So they give us windows to gaze upon the beauty of space while in the Tempest... then they serve up this...

On PC, on MP, it keeps changing hosts then after so long it's as if the game locks up, can't access any menus etc. but you can see stuff happening, i.e. blinking lights on doors. I'm guessing the connection has timed out or something but the only way to quit is to alt+f4 or task manager. Anyone having anything similar?

so is this game good for someone who never played ME1-3?

In theory, yes it's all new characters in a whole new galaxy... If you're willing to get a bit more exposition from some of the alien races about their relationships + read some of the in game codex entries.

The game throws you in the deep end a bit once you hit the nexus, and plays on the idea that it doesn't matter how far you travel if you bring your baggage with you but as long as your willing to roll with the punches a little you won't be lost.

Does space look like that to you in every spot of space? Did better texture pop in?

I did quite a bit looking out of windows and never saw vomit like that. Looked into screenshots folder, sadly didn't take any <.<

Edit: You on XBO? Overall looks... blurry?

Look at that planet/moon...full of jaggies due to shitty ass DoF (or perhaps it's due to the low resolution transparency of glass, saw it happen on the edges of Ryder's helmet while going down Habitat 7 first time in a shuttle)

I played a few hours in Eos, I really find it boring, somehow I preferred the first planet.

I had a fight with 8 or 9 Kett on Eos. Pretty hard on Normal difficulty as they had much better weaponry then me. I wonder what else is there as barely a third of the map seemed explorable.

Because there was always something happening and you didn't have to drive from landmark to landmark.

Exploration in an RPG and moving between points of interest? How dare they. I mean joking aside... that's almost all you do in JRPGs. Ubisoft Open World games are even worse and with less of a story and the same combat system since AC1.

I thought the DS4 would work fine with this but it is not working right at all. Controls camera with left stick, right stick does nothing, not button prompts, keyboard prompts are still showing.

da fuq, am I going to have to get a xbox controller for this? :\ I have to be missing something.

Try using DS4windows. It will emulate an xbox 360 controller with your DS4.

Yeah, X1. It's not the best looking game. But even something like ESO does its moons way better. How the hell does a space game make space look so shitty?

Space looks always like that on XBO? It doesn't load in better quality assets at any point? Yikes if so and such shame, space looks great on PC :S

No save during a mission? Really?

I spent 15 minutes exploring a laboratory on the initial mission, encounter enemies on the way out, die, and get reset to my previous encounter before I even walked to the laboratory. Wtf is that? Seriously frustrating.

There are rpgs that do it really good like TW3 and it's amazing world and games that do it really bad like DA:I. This is somewhere in between cuz the nomad is fast so it isn't too tedious.

Honestly, even with the issues I've seen, the game has left a largely positive impression on me and I'm looking forward to playing beyond the trial content. I'm really digging the exploration, combat, and wonder of the new galaxy. It sort of gives me that Mass Effect feeling. Like it's a bit rough around the edges, but I feel like it makes up for the bad animations in a lot of other ways.

Are you launching from origin or a shortcut. First time I launched the game from a shortcut and nothing happened, flipped back to origin and there was a prompt asking me to confirm that I wanted to start my trial. Game started after I hit yes.

I'm launching it from Origin, I click play, nothing shows up so I opened Task Manager and saw Mass Effect: Andromeda running in the background but still nothing shows up and I need to close it by using End Task.

Exactly my thoughts too. Habitat 7 was great, this really isn't. I am happy that Forbes said Eos wasn't a good planet for a first impression but still I am not holding my breath. I hope reviewers will tell us many of the other planets are similar to Habitat 7 because if its more like Eos......Hell No.

And this sucks because except for Eos I really enjoy everything I've seen so far. Even cutscenes become quite decent with your own Ryder instead of the real Sarah. It would be such a goddamn downer if it turns out the planets are just boring as hell when it starts off so damn well.

I played it on X1 as well and sure it's of course not the best looking of them all but no way did I find it blurry personally.

Why on earth would they make the space travel animations so damn long! ? Makes surveying systems extremely tedious, jeez. It's fucking ridiculous.

Finally managed a full game of mp! Great fun when it works! Please tell me I'm being a dummy... but is there no way to turn down the audio of VOIP?

The mute function doesn't always work and for some reason this game seems to have attracted people with open mic set to on and their speakers playing their game audio back through the microphone.... no thanks.

Even if things end up being a little rough at launch, I hope it all gets smoothed out.

There aren't many third-person shooters that give you biotic-like abilities in combat, and we don't need a repeat of the ME3 spoiler thread where people were literally experiencing PTSD and consoling each other over the ending, lol.

^ This. I'm one of those people who went to every single planet in the previous ME games. If i have to have to wait 10 seconds for each planet to show up, I probably wont do it in this game.

Skip button in an update pls

A little over 7hrs and getting more and more engaged with the game' story and mechanics. The combat is varied and fun, the few characters I've seen are cool and companions actually help in the heat of battle without getting on the way; the environments are huge and great looking in certain areas, the lighting and color palette are also really good.

I see how animations and facial expressions are to be compared to any other AAA game of this generation; I don't even think they were product of mocap at all. It's just weird, sadly. I am happy with my customized Ryder, he hasn't done anything crazy out of the preset animations. I am enjoying my time with Andromeda and I look forward to dig more into its lore and mechanics.

I see reasons why many are frustrated, yes; but I feel is important to also acknowledge the good within the obvious flaws. It is still "Mass Effect." The game is not broken, it is playable and there are a lot of good things happening in it; and to be honest, we are barely scratching the surface. As usual I hope Bioware and EA respond to the community by supporting the game after launch and continue to build up on its foundation.

Has this terrible bit of writing been discussed yet?

'To me, that's the saddest part. The Captain's heart was broken right before it exploded.'

Fucking LOL. I know 'my face is tired' is grabbing all the headlines because it's so obviously dumb but I think this is actually even funnier.

There are some... interesting dramatic ideas here? But the prose, the style... at times this is like Vogon poetry

People called Romanes they go the house?
When you have a scope on your gun how do you hover in a jump? Why are aim and hover the same button?

As far as I recall, if you start aiming in mid-air, you should auto-hover until the hover 'time' is up.

Edit: Though admittedly, I never got a scope, so I'm not sure how that interacts.

My guess is that it's loading the detailed textures in while you travel. But yeah, it could add to being one of the more aggravating issues, especially for not having a whole lot of 'worth' in stuff like the asteroids.

Honesty don't know if I should get this or not. Huge Mass Effect fan, 2 is in top 3 games of all time, but these impressions and images/gifs are not too hot.

I just hit the point in the trial on PC where the game will not let me progress any further. The game started out very strong and opens with a good story hook but after you reach that second planet the game starts to drag a bit. The animations are definitely goofy and a big step down from ME2 and ME3. So far I don't particularly like any of the characters either.

I couldn't make my female Ryder look good either. Every attempt results in a funky looking face. My Ryder has this weird overbite that I can't seem to get rid of. She looks like Zach De La Rocha.

Otherwise, the combat is really fun and the jump jets are cool. Hoping the game picks up after that second planet. As of right now I'm still buying it but I'm a bit disappointed. It feels like it lacks the epicness of the trilogy.

Wait what? I did the same thing. I didnt check for a save because I just assumed there was one ....

anyone playing this on a 4K HDR set with Dolby Vision (better version of HDR10)??...I'm curious how it looks as this is the first game to support Dolby Vision

Has this been posted yet?

Andrew Reiner from GI about the game. He seems fairly positive says you can easily spend a day on Eos mining stuff, doing side quests etc. Too bad the planet is just goddamn boring but I'm not sure he sees that the same way. It's an interesting watch though.

Yeah, the jumping between planets is annoyingly long. I can tell this will get old.

That said, the combat is probably the most fun I've had in a ME. I don't miss the weapon wheel at all.

Anyone else stop running into no more enemies after triggering the final part of the trial? I wanted to grind levels some but there's only mobs that don't give XP left.

Also the respec for my Ryder is bugged. Doesn't reset skills for me, companions work.

I found a chest on a rock that had some awesome stuff in it after some light platforming. Was delighted to see they did stuff like that.

Mattock is awesome crafted one with heat seeking plasma.

Anyone else have trouble downloading the demo on XBO? I load up EA Access, click try now, it brings me to the ME:A page, I click on free trial and it brings me to the EA Access page. Can't seem to break the loop.

Any impressions on how handling your squad's powers works now that they changed it?

I can see how the AI would be scripted to automatically use a detonator if you tell them to target a certain enemy right after you've just used a primer but what if you just want them to use a particular power regardless of the situation?
