While I wait for my console to arrive from Germany to here in the States, in PA, I may be rooting for you the hardest my dude. You've been on here looking from the very beginning

Haha thanks man. I hope I find it by next week. Although I find it surprisingly enjoyable to track it with a bunch of people on Zoolerts. I enjoy the comments. :)

Just checking several online retailers (Amazon, Target etc) and the thing seems to be completely sold out everywhere.

Looks like this have been a very successful launch for Nintendo so far.

They just sold what they shipped, which wasn't a lot. It's not fair to say either way.

This one store near me has said limited stock, via Target, for a week. I want to call, but also don't want to get my hopes up. It's 45 minutes away so it could very well go before I even get there.

Edit: And they're open until midnight (its 9pm for me right now).

I though you were ordering via Amazon.es.

You in NYC?

I might go with Amazon.es/de/uk if I can't find anything by end of next week.

I'm in NJ (shore area), but work in NYC. So when I'm in work I set up Prime Now alerts and will just get it delivered to my office if one shows up.

Gotcha. My office is in NYC too. And I have the prime now auto refresh plus trick and to this day haven't seen a single switch on prime now. :(

I'm thinking of hitting up Target at opening tomorrow, Sunday, hoping they get stock in. Stupid idea?

I've been searching high and low. Can't believe I can't find any. Local craigslist scalpers want $500 in my area. INSANE!

I suspect Prime Now's are pretty dry, but here's to hoping they get some surge.

Off you go :)

It's literally been limited for a whole week so I'll just call in the morning. There's a target practically around the corner from me so if I can not waste 2 hours or more that'd be nice.

Did the weekly ad get published? If they have stock I'm sure they will advertise it.

Omg. It just showed up on Prime Now for the first time. And it didn't let me add to cart when i hit Add and now it's gone. I'm never getting this, am I?

Almost 9:30 am Sunday morning in Tokyo and I just stood in line for a lottery ticket to buy a switch. Bic Camera is having a lottery between 9-10 this morning at around 30 of its locations. I don't know if stock varies by store (they wouldn't tell me on the phone) so I went to an out-of-the-way location hoping there would be less people. I'm guessing there will be about 200-300 people people participating though. I could choose between console colors when I was getting my lottery ticket, and everyone ahead of me was choosing gray, so I decided I would have a better bet with the neon color mix. Well, here's to hoping that my strategy paid off. Now the 2 1/2 hour wait until they announce the results :/

Damn, how bad is the Switch stock situation in Japan? I didn't realize Nintendo was doing so poorly in keeping up with demand.

I mean with all the talk of GameStop restocks, you'd have to believe normal Amazon will get stock at some point soon. It doesn't make sense for a retailer of their size to not get a restock when other stores are.

Because no one knows when stores will get them. The official statement from GameStop said by wednesday they should be in stores. Meaning the earliest any store will have them is Wednesday. It's going to be entirely possible for stores within 20 miles of each other to get shipments on different days.

People saw the March 22 date and took it to mean that is the day they all show up
If you have shopped for rare stuff at Gamestop in the last few years you'd know that they usually get stuff Wednesday late-morning early-afternoon whenever UPS drops it off. e.g. amiibos in 2015, NES minis, etc. All got delivered on Wednesdays in my region, and most other regions. Find out when the truck usually comes and be there when UPS gets there.

Found out my local Gamestop, which had around 60 preordered units at launch, is only expected to get 5 Switches next week. Seems like second shipment numbers will be low.

Keep an eye on the gamestop.com Switch web listings all of wednesday in the AM and F5 the search, if you're looking to score. They often put out small quantities of online stock on the same days they do store re-stocks. It's usually a fresh listing too.

Is it possible current restock is getting neutered so they can get fixed joycons and docks out there?

I keep finding reasons not to play Zelda on my Wii U so that I can just play it when I get a Switch, but fuck knows when that'll be.

Went to several stores today out of curiosity (my Switch will be here Monday) and I was surprised to find that Toys R Us had the most stock left in terms of games and accessories. Lots of Joy-Cons and copies of Zelda there, while Target and Best Buy were almost completely picked clean.

Central NJ was polished off. Not one store in miles had one. I found a PC Richards and Toys R Us that said they were slowly picked off so I would totally try them next shipment.... if I didnt already buy a Neon Switch off Amazon.es. Happy I secured one instead of chasing the stock. I got it alot cheaper too.

I doubt it. I think its just that the console is only 3 weeks old. Between preorders and launch shipments, im sure Nintendo just had some catching up to do production wise.

How long did it take after an iPhone launch to be able to just walk into an Apple Store and buy one.
This isn't uncommon, I think Nintendo was a little cautious with how many units they had planned for production. This console had such a short amount of time to gauge demand for. It was announced and released in a matter of months.

Caved and bought one off a scalper. Paid 360$ for it which I see as pretty good. I feel alright about spending 30 extra bucks to get it earlier and not have to deal with trying to be at Gamestop right when they open when they get their shipment with my work schedule only to maybe not get one.

Fuckin PSYCHED.

Yeah. Do those in stock alerts not work if they change the online listing? Or is searching by sku?

I'd gladly pay $360 for one lol. This hunting is getting tedious.

yep, I didn't want to have to wait overnight at gamestop or constantly stalk all the online retailers anymore so I went down that route too, didn't get as good as a deal you did though!

yep. They have been restocking constantly on their limited prime now service since launch

Tbh I criticized the Switch and didn't think it would sell like it did. But I haven't seen this much fervor for a console since Wii. It is sort of reaching fad status exacerbated once again by Nintendo not getting their poor production capabilities under control. I was in an EB Games and they must've fielded like 4 calls while I was there about the Switch and how it isn't in stock and to check back in a week for an ETA on a shipment etc.

Meanwhile in the Philippines...
switches can be had for 26,500 pesos, or a cool $530 USD 0_0 and a joycon set runs about $100 USD. what the fuck?! Also picked up a tempered glass screen protector for $12. Which I though was decent... Until I checked Amazon us and found multiple dual pack tempered glass screen protectors in stock with prime shipping for $9 =/

Yep, loads of stock here in Thailand too. You could only buy a bundle at first with Zelda & 1,2 Switch but now you can buy the console just by itself.
I have sold 3 Switches this week, strangely the red/blue Switch costs a little more extra then the grey version

Amazon.de is said to get new stock in pretty soon.

As far as I researched Switch restock is happening all over Europe on the 23rd of march as well as on the 30th. Some stores also got new units on the 17th, which are already sold out of course...

Nintendo is delivering Switches as fast as they can, however they clearly underestimated the demand and I guess the struggling will keep on for about a month at least until the doubling of production really takes some effect.

I will wait another month or two, I have a store where I get 5% off on everything I buy plus they sometimes have 10% off of everything every now and then, resulting an European Switch that costs 329 Euro to be only 281 Euro, which is a sum I can live with, even if I only get the system for two or three games(Zelda, Mario and Xenoblade 2).

I hear ya man. When I lived there, real Super NES games were hard to come by. Fakes were mostly predominant, which means a person could get a copy of Super Mario World and find out they couldn't save their progress. Likewise, imported real hardware will definitely cost you a pretty penny, and it might be just cheaper to buy in the US then send it back there.

Last time I was here was 17 years ago in 2000. Back then I had a chipped ps1 and bootlegged games were about $1 and some change. I was in heaven. I took home over 30 ps1 games that summer. But why is the hardware pricing like that? Japan is just a stones throw across the pond. Hell, first day I got here I bought a spigen case for my galaxy s7 for $22 while I can get the same case on Amazon us for $17. China is a fucking hour and a half plane ride to the Philippines compared to 14+ it is to the US.

At least they won't dare to ban any Nintendo game there though. Also the switch isn't that expensive over there, last I've checked it was 469,- Australian Dollars, which is almost equal to the 329 Euro pricetag here. -I don't know if your price is including taxes though, ours is.

I just got mine this afternoon in Malaysia, just walked by a store and they were selling it. I really just got lucky though, the stock situation is pretty touch-and-go here. Couple of other shops I know of are taking pre-orders for the mid April batch.

Yep, $469 includes our 10% GST.

Meanwhile in the Philippines...

I've been seeing post like this from other countries in which Switch is readily available.

at first I though, "we'll I guess not everyone wants a switch". but then I realized that all those countries have the switch selling for a ridiculous, outrageous price (exception Italy and Spain)

I was in mexico the weekend the switch was released and it was available in stores, I touched a box and read the text on the back of it lol.

the thing costs $10'000 fucking pesos, that's over $500 dls and that's the bare console, no Zelda or accessories. for perspective, there are complete families that get through the month with less than that in Mexico.

Obviously YMMV, but Prime Now has Pro Controllers in stock in my area (Seattle). Got one coming within the next two hours!

EDIT: They also have BOTW special edition.

Wouldn't be surprised if Amazon holds off with the stuff regarding the dock gouging screens and the left joy con issues.

Amazon since they have good customer service accepted returns on 3ds' that had their screens scratched by the other screen's bezel. Nintendo essentially told them to fuck off.

Not like Amazon is making any decent money on the console unless they do horrible bundles like Gamestop.
