The romance scene is fine. The writing is intended to feel awkward and weird. The animations weren't top notch but I honestly didn't even notice them.

There's a thin line between awkward but endearing and awkward with cringe overload, this scene imo doesn't even come close to the endearing side.

I love that shot.

....wow. How could I predict that harassment and gamer bigots would happen? I didn't even expect the thread would be alive still when I compiled the threads. It's one thing to talk about the continuation of the thread now that serious despicable shit has gone down, and a whole another thing to claim that I should've known or predicted that this would've happened.

Sorry but you're both wrong and out of line, imo. If you knew that gamer bigots would do this shit, you should've contacted me or the mods and have the thread closed. Instead you didn't do anything even though you apparently both predicted this would've happened.

In the meantime I'll contact mods and let them decide what's best now that this has turned ugly.

Maybe I worded it wrongly, I don't know. But I did not mean to come of as blaming you, meant that it is not a surprise that some shitheads are using these clips and videos to push whatever agenda they might have. Again, sorry if it came of as accusing you.

Pathfinder Space Jesus that gets constantly reminded he/she is space jesus gets all uncomfortable around romantic interests...sounds totally reasonable /s

Hey, at least being this mythical figure known as the Pathfinder means your employees, I mean, "volunteers" can't file a sexual harassment complaint if you go all up on their faces and start telling them how cute they are.

I think they tried too hard to make it awkward. This seemed like the first idea they had while writing the script. The quick "I like you" line was terrible.

I haven't been following this game at all but someone on Facebook shared this tweet and I thought it was pretty funny. The negativity surrounding this game is everywhere.

I have the game preordered but that video makes me seriously regret it. The thing's it says about the character and the writing in the game is incredibly damning. Why is basically a military commanding officer responsible for the lives of 20,000-100,000 people (depending on how things play out with the other arks) behaving like a 13 who's year old who just had their first kiss with a subordinate. It's totally undermining to them as a character. Shepard having relationships with people under his/her command was bad enough but at least they acted professional. The level of maturity displayed just kills any suspension of disbelief I have.

If they aren't a mature enough person to not act like this then why are they allowed to be in charge of all these people. Why was the position not stripped from them? Or someone put in charge of them? The stuff with SAM complicates matters but I just cannot believe this character as a leader.

? The whole point of Ryder's character is that they're a 20 something year old untried untested newb hitting their stride. They're not supposed to be Shepard nor are they supposed to be a military commander. And they're not particularly mature either.

That's not negativity, the Twitter convo between the two is discussing the homage to Alien and how the Kett tech is very Giger-influenced.

Which why are they put in charge of 100,000 lives then. It makes no sense. It completely breaks down any sense of reason. Bioware had to apply bhaalspawn, jedi, grey warden, spectre, inquisitor again like every damn game they ever made it makes no sense in this case. Why would anyone leave this person in charge. You don't put a kid in charge just because their dad was the old leader. Suddenly they are the ruling voice in matters of law and order? Ordering people exiled or not? Deciding guilty or innocent by degree alone? It makes zero sense.

Looks stunning. Yes they make a weird face, but still a more human weird face. You can probably take a frame from a lot of games where they make a stupid face. But Andromeda has a larger issue that while even looking at the youtube videos, they look like lifeless dolls.

Kill me now Salarian is right.

They're making those faces for a reason (and it's hilarious).

I was kind of looking forward to this game before all the details about the plot, you being the Pathfinder, etc. came out. Here they had a chance to show the Mass Effect universe through the lens of someone who didn't have to be some all-important military figure or "the chosen one" to lead everyone, but they decided not to.

If you played the trial you'd realize their father didn't have much of a choice but to move it up. Also the comparison the the Inquisitor is pretty apt but not in the way you meant the Inquisitor is another untried person who got put in charge because of wrong time wrong place. Literally the pathfinder is in charge because they (like most of BW's protagonists) have special X that means only they can do Y. This is not a new BW concept.

As for the exiling again if you had played the game you'd know exactly why you were given influence into that choice. Like did you play the trial? Because all of this is explained in that. You literally get the "well we don't have any better options and if you screw up that's on you." speech as soon as you reach the Nexus.

Agreed, even before all this animation business I really didn't like how such a unique premise as "colonizing new planets" turned into just another "chosen one fighting against generic big bad." I couldn't help but feel disappointed when the cutscene started of some random alien bad guy walking around with a goddamned evil cloak like he's Darth Vader.

I'm not really excited about the fact that you are once again someone overly important, but there is a reason behind it this time around that kinda makes sense. It's pretty similar to what they did with DA:I, though.

Oh dear god, it gets worse......

That was funny. It suffers due to the animations and would have fit better if they were actually teenagers.

Hold up, why are you people cringing at writing in this self-aware awkward flirting? You people suddenly have bigger standards for your RPG romances in games?

lmao

This is not the first nor last time Bioware's romance scenes have been criticized.

I played the entire trial and finished every quest. Even with your special link to sam you shouldn't be in charge of these things. You should be having someone else telling you what to do every step of the way. Bioware forcing their special jesus chosen one bullshit into this role doesn't fit and totally undermines the writing of the game. They went back to the well one too many times. None of the writing in the game has been good so far but this is just a whole extra class of bad.
