How? Because they added crafting and little XP bars? It doesn't feel more RPG than the other games. Just more of the same but with the typical additions.

By having an armor and weapon system expanded upon from previous games and by having a wider array of both powers and actual skill trees in deciding which path you want each individual power to take. Not sure what "XP bars" you're referring to other than the uh- main XP for the character.

There's also a Nexus XP bar. But yes, having more "depth" to the combat in the weapons and armor having stats is a good step forward more towards ME1. But that doesn't mean it's an RPG with more depth, in my opinion it's still an action game with rpg aspects.

Seeing as that poster replied to me, to make it clear by depth in an RPG I often mean speech/narrative choices and amounts of side quests and content which fleshes out your and other characters. Especially when it comes to a Bioware game.

Often I don't care too much about weapon/skill depth. As long as it's serviceable I'm fine. Some crafting/loot systems can be cool.

Some of the snide and sarcastic comments in this thread are genius level funny, I was laughing my arse off at the first few pages, never change GAF! Damn this thread is funny, especially the disclaimers! It's not like these are gonna ruin the experience is it? I mean it IS a game not a movie so you expect little glitches... I guess it's a stretch to call these little...

I'm still gonna play the game and I'm still gonna love it, and I'm sure it will take me a few years to finish but that's how I Mass Effect! So by the time I finish it I imagine it will be a totally different game, seriously EA can't just let some of this lie can they? This is 2017!

I'm not that worried about these animations it will provide some light hearted moments during a tough-core story and game lol

I didn't think the game was out until this Thursday?

I think some, not all, people mistake people laughing at the game as a sign of hating it or outright dismissing it. I've had a good time poking fun at the bugs, some of the delivery, writing, graphics... but hell I'm still going to buy it and play it. I don't have to take everything to seriously.

Yeah, for story I can "only" speak on the first 10 hours but it is just beyond generic and the sidequests are just there for being there it feels like. Not as bad as Xenoblade but the first two sidequests are literally "go here scan a thing, go here scan another thing, oh look more scanning". And then you get to make a binary choice. It doesn't feel interesting to see who did what or this or that because in the end... It's scanning things and then making a choice. I didn't feel I gained a new insight into the world or even would have made a lasting impact on me outside of the fact this is a very hyped game for me.

My god you guys are handing this thing it's collective ass.

How many pages is this now? fucking hilarious, but a part of me weeps for the developers who made it all happen.

Hmm yeah, my biggest fear coming off of some insanely batshit side quests in Nier is ME ends up a bit too sterile lol. Nier has lots of fetch quests or A to B, but it's the writing and small touches that elevate the experience. That's the same with TW3. Mechanically tons of fetch quests and mundane killing, but interesting narratives and characters.

Bioware games can always be a bit iffy here, but they do produce some great characters at times. And memorable quests. Those get me through gameplay jank if they're well written and fun or memorable. If it all ends up sterile overused chit chat and the game is janky as hell that's not a good mix.

I have had my fun throwing off on all of the bad footage, but I am ready to give the game the benefit of the doubt. The stream I am watching right now looks great and does nothing but make me want to play it.

I can only speak of the two sidequests I did in the trial but yes, sterile and dull is the best word to use. Nier I just started yesterday so I'm hoping I get to experience the things you are talking about soon !

Nier is a million times more action adventure with light RPG, but Taros (and the team) writing is great. That's all I ask for with writing and quests in games. Some effort, care and imagination.

I eagerly await tomorrow's reviews.

Yeah, I loved the intro level so I'm very excited.

I'm watching this as well, and the cutscene with the whole crew on display looks way better than what we've seen these past couple of days

Yeah, it honestly looks like what it is... a new Mass Effect. I got to the point to where I just had to cave and watch more footage so I could see for myself. Which is now making it clear that all of this is being overblown and I feel like an idiot for doing my part in it. But at least I got some laughs out of the deal.

Didn't see this breakdancing corpse before.

Is the ground frozen there? That section definitely has cryo canisters around there that you can use to freeze enemies. Wonder if the environment reflects that and that combo'd with the ragdoll resulted in those sick moves.

Might just be a generic wet surface though as well.

Edit: Wait that's Habitat 7, not Eos, so I don't think there were actually any cryo canisters. Just weird ragdolls goodness.

Yeah, it looks fun as hell and better than it ever has.

I gotta admit, it does. For some reason their own official videos didn't quite show me how fun the combat looks. I saw the dashes etc. in that one video they did but yeah, this is the first ever Andromeda video (well, stream) that has left me with some positive feelings. I never enjoyed the combat in the previous games. It's always about speed and mobility for me. That's also the reason why I don't like Gears of War games.

Wrong thread. This one is for funny animations.

Unless this is some kind of agenda post to counter negativity.

At any rate, those gifs do make the game look fun.

I was simply posting them because me and another poster was talking about the gameplay. No harm, no foul. I am about done having fun at this game's expense anyway... because it actually looks pretty darn good.

Moment to moment gameplay definitely seems upgraded from the last games so I'll keep an open mind but there just is too much to play right now :(

There is a lot of cool things in the game, it's just there's also a bunch of derpy nonsense bugs too that really make think I should just wait a bit until reviews come out or all the weird stuff is patched.

I'm sure there's really great stuff, like I'm not going to argue that combat looks bad for sure. But the way everything together is right now I'm not sure I'm willing to pay $59.99 to experience it.

This also is a factor too.

Oh shit, if Karak isn't digging it, that's the final straw.

The man has impeccable taste.

That's not what he said though. Someone said they were getting the impression he was hating it, and he replied with "I wouldn't if I were you." He did say he wasn't going to go soft on the issues he felt were there though.

I know people are out for blood but come on.
