Never fall for traps assuming that there are failsafes. If they were clever enough, they might get away with it

She found one listed as brand new, and the list was at 199.99

On a whim she bought it, we're awaiting to see what random stuff we get shipped to us in a box of a Nintendo Switch. Luckily her order is backed by Amazon if this is indeed what I feel might be that a scam.

I just have thoughts running through my head we'll end up like that guy who ordered that TV from Slickdeals that arrived smashed into a hundred pieces.

Tell the delivery person you need to check contents before signing for it to make sure its arrived in good condition. When it ends up being a brick in a Switch box refuse to accept delivery. There'll then be a record that delivery was refused and when Amazon look into it the delivery person can also back up the fact that it wasn't a genuine product.

Why even deal with all of that just to have a really low chance of saving $100?

lol

I'm redoing my patio definitely in need of bricks let me know if it's burgundy. I can't match the $199 you paid though.

I wouldn't but he (or his girlfriend) already has... now all he can do is deal with the problem the best way possible from here on out, which is what I'm suggesting.

If he can cancel it then great, but apparently he can't or wont. Just saying "you shouldn't have done that" isn't helpful in the slightest.

What's with the spate of hyper-gullible people falling for these scams?

What on earth goes through your head? Why would you think there was any even remote chance that you would get a brand new just released $300 item for $200?

PT Barnum was right.

Of course it's a scam, and a common one. They'll mark it as shipped and keep the money from amazon.

This.

You won't even get a box of rocks.

3-week loan of $200 for the scammer.
People are so free with their money.

She got a deal of a lifetime. Remember that saying "If it Sounds Too Good to Be True, something something" ah well i forgot what goes after that but consider yourself lucky.

Yeah, that's a scam.

There's a thread about this on Reddit, too: https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSw...sa_be_careful_ordering_from_amazon_right_now/

Some sellers are saying that their accounts have been hacked.

Also, who buys a $300+ system and sells it for $200 to spite their kid? The thing released less than three weeks ago. If it's brand new, why not return it?

Wow there are a shitload of stupid people in that reddit thread. There are so many people willing to risk much more than theyre aware of by purposefully trying to buy shit through scammers

it's a scam, i was looking to buy Pokemon Moon today and came across new sellers selling shit for way under the price range which is damn crazy. (like 6 bucks for a new game etc) clicking reviews saw a seller claiming to be from America buy the buyer said the tracking number was from China. They need even stricter requirements imo. I used common sense to know that those were bullshit but there are people that will take the bait easily.

Ah, the old Nintendo Switch-a-roo. Hopefully you at least get an entertaining story for $200 because you're not getting a Switch for that price. Let's just hope you didn't turn a $300 Switch into $500 because you thought you could roll the dice and maybe possibly save $100.

The thing though is the person selling it has a vast Amazon store, and seems to be a regular seller.

She's hoping that it's a case that this person bought it for their kid(s), they misbehaved, and now are selling it to spite the kid(s).

spites them so much they want to lose 100$ on it? Couldn't they have just returned it to the store?

Lol, these threads where people still think there's any hope whatsoever they didn't get scammed are a good laugh.

Might as well just cancel it before having your money tied up for any length of time.
