This is so drawn out now. Just pick someone and go with it. I don't think any of these potential names are flat out bad choices.

Maybe they're all gonna be Cable. A different actor for every scene. In one scene he's Inglourious Basterd's Brad Pitt, in another he's Delocated's Michael Shannon.

I'm kinda torn. Dude is great and would probably rock Cable but the man could do more interesting or thought provoking films.

Never would have come to my mind personally, but I could totally see this if he bulks up. He plays a good straight man that's for sure.

Reminder from a interview a few days ago:
"It's a short, short list," Reese said.

"An announcement will be coming very soon," Wernick chimed in. "We're gonna go into production in the next couple of months and cast announcements will be coming fast and furious."

While the writers were unable to disclose any of the stars in contention for the role, they did share the details of traits which will determine the selection.

"I think intimidating, scary, a great foil opposite the lunacy," Reese said. "Someone with a great deadpan thing where they can react to someone who's being crazy. Someone who also has a spark of a sense of humor. This person has to be funny because they're buddying up with Ryan [Reynolds] and Deadpool so they just themselves to be funny but in a more serious way, if that makes sense. Physically imposing and able to emote. There's real drama and real stakes. It's a tough one."

Wernick was quick to point out that 20th Century Fox will need somebody "who can carry a franchise moving forward."

"They've got X-Force coming up," Wernick said. "Cable is head of the X-Force so it's someone who can also command a movie franchise. It's a tall task and we have been on the hunt for a very long time. I think once it's announced, as we get closer, people are gonna go crazy for it."

I'm gonna mark out so hard if they cast Shannon in this. Such a good actor and his deadpan humor and rage opposite Reynolds' personality would be really dope

Never would have thought 10 years ago that Fox would be murking everyone else with their comic book output. Some stinkers here and there. But Deadpool, Legion and Logan killed it in the last year and a half

Lol. Dude got fat but he had a pretty good guest run on the show The Affair. I think he has a good future in playing a wasteman if directors give him a shot. He played the part really well

Sadly his mummy hero days seem forever gone

He was really good in that, but seeing the shape he's in was kinda depressing. I hope that was more trying to get into this role and less just not taking care of himself.

When I think of Scott Summers being Cable, I just don't see that in Shannon. Brad Pitt would be a better fit than Shannon but I also can't imagine Pitt in a superhero movie.

Deadpool universe gonna be filled with ex DC folks. Or they're going with the theory I proposed where they change Cabel's actor every scene since the future keeps changing.

If they go with just him, I would expect Shannon to play a similar character to what he played in Midnight Special, except instead of his son he's protecting Hope.

Michael Shannon was pretty good in Nocturnal Animals.

The character being played by different actors every scene would be hilarious but it might upstage the titular character.

I love Michael Shannon but I don't see him as Cable. The guy is a character actor and pretty much has his way of acting in everything and it definitely doesn't fit Cable.
