“Deadpool 2” is getting close to announcing its casting choices for two iconic mutant co-stars, Cable and Domino, set to appear beside Ryan Reynold’s Merc with a Mouth. Twentieth Century Fox is reportedly eying Pierce Brosnan for Cable, while the role of Domino could go to Kerry Washington.

According to That Hashtag Show, a casting call recently went out for the role of Domino that laid out what Fox is looking for in the lucky assassin:

Female

All ethnicities

Late 20s – early 30s

Sexy, lithe and athletic

She has a witty personality.

Neena is a no-nonsense badass who rarely shows her feeling. Highly capable, supremely confident and armored in… well ARMOR… and bullet-proof sarcasm. But beneath her shell she’s still and vulnerable and some soft, beating remnant of her humanity remains intact. In this scene we need to see both sides. When she can’t get what she needs with insults, bluster and threats we need to see some of that vulnerability. It’s hard for her to let down her guard, and in the mercenary community she grew up in showing compassion is almost embarrassing. We should feel like she’d be more comfortable killing Silberman than saying “Please”.

The site also claims to have heard from sources that actresses Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Sienna Miller have turned down the role and that Washington, who has starred in “Django Unchained” and “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer,” is currently in the studio’s sights. The casting call also referred to Domino by her civilian name, “Neena,” which is an uncommon move; most casting calls refer to high-profile parts by a code name.

Domino first appeared in 1992 in “X-Force” #8 and was created by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld. She is a genetically engineered mutant that was conceived as part of a United States government program, Project Armageddon, that aimed to create perfect, human weapons.

In the case of Domino, who is one of the few survivors of the project, it worked. She can subtly, psychically alter random variables in her line of sight to create the illusion of extreme luck. Using her abilities, Domino can pull off near-impossible physical feats and is nigh unkillable. She can also alter the perceived luck of her foes, causing their weapons to malfunction or their shots to misfire.

Domino and Cable have a long history together, first meeting after Domino joined the mercenary S.H.I.E.L.D. group Six Pack. Domino would later go on to join Cable on the X-Force strike team, of which he was the leader. She has frequently teamed with Deadpool, even going so far in “Marvel NOW!” to reform the Mercs for Money super team, originally established by Deadpool.
Would be fine with it but I don't believe this rumor.

Kinda surprised actresses would be turning down that part. Given how hot this franchise is right now it's a once in a lifetime opportunity.

And no, I never in my life thought I would type those words about Liefeld X-Force characters.

Well, Sienna Miller has been on an art-house kick for a while, I think, and Gugu just almost got cast in Episode 8, so she might actually be able to land something even bigger than Deadpool. I can understand both of them turning it down.

Pierce Brosnan for Cable whut? o_O

He's more than ready.

All jokes aside, he's a good actor so he (and a couple stuntsmen) could make this work.

Surprised Sienna Miller refused the role since she's not exactly a big name. Who turns down the opportunity to star in the sequel to one of the biggest hits of all time? A mess. Oh, well, if Kerry says yes, it'll be awesome.

Eh, I'll be the dissenting opinion I guess; if this is true, I'm not a fan. I think she's a good actress (though I really didn't like her part in Django), but I haven't seen anything in her filmography that I'm super blown away by.

I mean, who's filmography in the original Deadpool blew you away? She's already on better standing than most of them, and can easily do what needs to be done for some comic book shit.

She'll do great if she accepts the role.

The actors had great chemistry, not amazing performances. I dunno, just don't see it. I'm afraid of a "Don Cheadle War Machine" situation in which the base actor is good but the chemistry isn't there.

I like Kerry Washington and she would be cool in this role, but I really liked the Lizzy Caplan report that had been floating around earlier.

That's a good choice. I wouldn't mind Aubrey Plaza because I want to see her do action but I wouldn't have a problem with Kerry Washington at all.

i can't see kerry washington in this part. she always looks like she's about to cry. there's no past sense of wittiness or bite to her. would be a hard sell until we see a trailer.

Yeah she has a about-to-cry face now that you mention it. She's the reverse Renee Zellweger or Chelsea Handler who both have a just-cried-for-two-hours face.

I've only seen her in Scandal, which my wife watches. Based on that I don't really see it. I'm guessing she's had other roles, though.

Now let me ask: what scene have you ever seen from Domino that made you think "this part really demands an actress who super blows me away!"

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
I wonder if the role was turned down by the others because it was too small. I could see them passing if it was comparable to something like Olivia Munn in X-Men Apocalypse.
