White supremacist Maryland man comes to NYC to murder black men

The fucking NY Post headline:
"Cops searching for well-dressed man in fatal Midtown stabbing"

They mention how well groomed and sharply dressed the killer was while also mentioning the victims arrest records. This shit is just mindboggling, holy fucking crap.

NY Daily News had some shit like that too but I think they edited it. Fucking embarassments.

Dehumanizing the victim is disgusting, but if the killer is still at large, an accurate description of him seems appropriate, no?

Looks like a recreation of Roman gladius or something like that.

I wonder, do white supremacist use Roman symbols? I know they've perverted Norse and viking mythology and stuff at least.

Nazis and Italian fascists both drew heavily from Roman imagery. The word fascism itself derives from a Roman symbol of the polity.

RIP to Timothy Caughman. Truly heartbreaking.

And fuck this racist, sadistic, inbred-looking motherfucker. Piece of shit deserves solitary for life.

I feel so horrible for that man and his family. Just sickening. I don't even have the words to convey how horrible this is.

Now imagine that loss but add to it legitimate fear that not only could it happen again but that it is a (hopefully outlier) symptom of a resurgent movement.

My daughter is half white, half not white and I never worried about it till this current climate.

What's being suggested is that they're building up the killer, making him look good. Dressing sharp has no negative associations, whereas a mention of prior arrests paints a picture that the person may have had it coming due to those priors, or deserve it. You're not wrong in that they're right to describe him, it's just that they could have left the victim's criminal history out.

I feel really sorry for dark-skinned folks. The amount of shit they have to put up and the constant self-reminder to not be seen as "threatening" to white people.

Mentioning how well dressed a murderer is while at the same time bringing up Caughman's criminal record for no reason, paints a clear picture of the mindset of the writer.

Also I can't speak to any other articles from the Post, but this Headline has no excuse:

Well-dressed suspect in fatal stabbing surrenders to cops

This bullshit
The sharp-dressed suspect wanted for fatally stabbing a 66-year-old man in Hell's Kitchen turned himself in to police, authorities said.

While still going out of their way to mention Caughman's record.

Caughman, who had 11 prior arrests, staggered around the corner to the Midtown South Precinct looking for help. He died hours later after being rushed to a nearby hospital.

I agree. I probably should have had a period in there instead of a comma. "Dehumanizing the victim is disgusting" and "an accurate description is appropriate" (referring to the killer) were meant to be two separate thoughts. Talking about Timothy's arrest record is vile and mean-spirited.

"him" as in the killer, not the victim.

Sorry, I should have chose my words better.

28 man. Twenty fucking eight. Shit is disgusting and disturbing to see straight up murder racism still alive and well in 2017.

The racist rode 200 fucking miles to New York to kill a black man because he wanted to make a statement in the "media capital" of the world.

Voluntarily and empowering fellow white supremacists.

Fuck him.

Okay, this headline is gross. The other article headline seemed to imply the killer hadn't surrendered and cops were still looking for him. That's why I commented that including a description of the man made sense.

I apologize to anyone else quoting me for my misunderstanding of the events.

There's only one neonazi/white supremacist group I know that uses primarily Roman symbols, and it's the alt-right (read: neonazi and white supremacist group).

It's in everything they do -- idolization of an emperor, some religious tendencies. Memes primarily use the imagery, 'Deus vult' is a common phrase in them.

1:1 odds the murdering sack of shit is from one of the chans and/or t_D.

What a sick old fuck. I'll be glad when racism dies ou-

...

Yeah. I used to be one of those who believed that the world's ills would die out with the older generation, but have come to realize that won't be the case at all.

And fuck that article for bringing up the victim's arrest record for no good reason.

Careful now, disparaging this economically anxious young man might create new Trump voters!

The "economically anxious" sarcasm meme is so tired.

I think those are more about medieval Christendom (filtered through Warhammer 40k...) than actual Rome. Deus Vult may be Latin, but its usage as far as I am aware is associated only with the crusades.

Not as tired as the people still trying to push it as an absolution

Has anyone done that for this blatantly white supremacist murderer?

There is no doubt in my mind that this murderous racist filth saw himself as doing Trumps work. Sick white fucks like this piece of shit have been awakened all across America.

But not the excuse I'm sure..fight the good fight tho.

The excuse is tired, too, and rightly needs to be called out. Not all of them were economically anxious and not all of them would agree with the murderer's principles, either. It's easier to equate even psychopathic white supremacists to all Trump voters instead of actually addressing a lot of the reasons why some of them [stupidly] voted for him, so I'll leave you guys to it.

We'll express our disgust how you deem fit next time, boss.

So reach out to people and hope they don't have a 2 foot sword?

No one's trying to censor you. You have a right to default to "economically anxious" every time a racist does racist shit, just as I have a right to express my disdain for how often it gets played.

You do you.

Concern trolling over this man's death is sick.

Readers of the Post and Daily News are older, working class, conservative New Yorkers. They also blindly pander to the NYPD.

They might not agree to murder, but everyone who voted for him were a-okay with his racist and sexist stances.
