Why does he wear the mask!?
Getting a pretty solid close to 60fps for most of the time with some odd dips into the low 40's on the rare occasion (thanks to FreeSync I only know of this because Afterburner is telling me). i5 4690K, 16GB, R9 390X. Running at 1080P on 17.3.2.

Texture Quality - Ultra
Anti-Aliasing - Temporal AA
Ambient Occlusion - HBAO
Post Process Quality - Ultra
Texture Filtering - Ultra
Lighting Quality - Ultra
Shadows Quality - High
Effects Quality - High
Mesh Quality - Ultra
Shader Quality - Ultra
Terrain Quality - Ultra
Vegetation Quality - Ultra

Something seems off with your setup. I'm running the game completely maxed out at 1080p with the resolution scale at 1.05 and have it locked to 40 FPS and it's been very rare to see it drop below that.

Since I have the FPS locked to 40 I can't really tell what the exact FPS is but like I said, I've rarely seen it drop and I've played for roughly 20 hours.

think ill cap it at 40, how do I do that?

What areas have you been to? When I went to Eos my GPU was maxed out using settings that were around Medium-High. I was getting dips to the mid 50s on a GTX 970 at 1535MHz.

You can use a program called Rivatuner Statistic Server and set the global or application to 40 fps.

There's also a built in cap but I'm not sure if it's as good as RTSS.

I think it is gametime.maxvariablefps 30 in console.

Doesn't seem as good as RTSS.

My GPU goes to 70 odd percent to max whereas my cpu is at 40, overclocked the gpu in msi to help it and capped at 40

Gsync monitor arrives tomorrow so that'll help with smoothness

wait what, mine says its in the higher 3ks in rtss/msi?

To anybody running into the mega annoying "cursor always in the center of the screen" issue.

Run the game in Windows 8 compatibility mode. No more annoying cursor :)

I use RTSS to cap it to 40.

I've been to Eos and the snowy planet but I literally just landed and walked for a moment there. Besides a few moments in cutscenes and in certain areas of the cockpit (for example next to an asteroid field) the framerate has been a steady 40 FPS.

I have everything at their maximum value, 1.05 render scale at 1080p and vsync with triple buffering turned on.

Feels pretty good with a controller.

FYI: I have a 970 G1 at stock speeds.

Keep in mind that unless you have a 120Hz display, this will cause consistent judder (V-Sync).

Hmm I'd have to compare it to a 30 FPS lock. I'll do that later today.

I left it at 40 FPS because the game is more responsive and aiming felt better with a controller that way.

Oh sorry, I thought you said the game was running at a locked 60 fps for some reason, my bad. Yeah I was thinking max settings would be possible at 30+ fps.

Anyone have good settings for 4k 60 FPS with a single 1080 Ti? If I choose ultra, the FPS sucks. Apparently, HBAO full is pretty taxing, when I set it to regular HBAO I'm able to get 60 FPS with most settings on high and ultra textures/ultra texture filtering. I haven't messed with the remaining settings yet to see which of those can also be set to ultra and still maintain 60 FPS, some of them require a restart after changing ;p.

Tried playing in HDR mode. It looks better but isn't worth the extra input lag it brings to the table on top of having to have Vsync and Triple Buffering enabled for me to get decent performance.

Does your TV support game mode? My tv on HDR is nearly the same in regards to input lag as without.

Drop resolution scaling to ~90% wont look too much blurier and your performance should shoot up.

I'm curious if anyone else on PC is having any issues? I would have swore my new 1080 ti would blow this thing out the water, but I see stuttering sometimes and last night when I did auto-detect for my graphics it set everything to the lowest setting including the monitor down to auto-900 p. I'm curious if it's the game or the card. I tried a couple of other hard hitters like Dues Ex, Witcher 3 and Doom and didn't notice any issues on those.

For reference this is what I'm working with:

CPU: Intel i7-4790K 4.0 GHz Quad Core Processor
8 gb RAM
Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1080Ti Founders Edition

No idea how reliable the auto-detection is, but it pre-selected 1080p Ultra for me on a GTX 1080. Maybe your RAM is an issue? They recommend 16GB and I've seen my usage pass 10GB while playing.

That should fix the input lag problem, it really helped for my Samsung TV to be in gaming mode instead of just the regular PC mode. For a Samsung TV, just rename PC to "game console" and enable gaming mode to significantly reduce input lag. Make sure to adjust sharpness appropriately since Samsung is quite idiotic in how they handle it - in "PC" mode sharpness should be 50, but in "game console" mode it should be 0.

I tried setting resolution scaling to 90% - it does allow you to set some more settings to ultra (like shaders/effects) and I don't really notice the slight scaling. Right now I have most settings at ultra with .9 scaling, HBAO on HBAO and shadows/lighting set to high instead of ultra. Staying at 60 FPS but I haven't played far into it.

That's a shame, a dynamic resolution is already implemented on the console versions and it would have been a great option for smoothing out the bumpy performance in some areas.

For reference, these are my PC specs:

EVGA GTX 1060 6GB, +150 on the core, +500 on memory
i5 2550K overclocked to 4.5 Ghz
8GBs of 1600mhz DDR3
Installed on a Samsung 850 Evo SSD
Windows 10

With everything on HIgh except for Textures and Texture Filtering on Ultra, my framerate was fluctuating around 50-60 with Vsync on Habitat 7. With "auto 900p" on my framerate was a perfect 60, and I certainly wouldn't mind that if the resolution jumped back up to 1080p in less demanding areas.

Are you running at 1080p? I am getting the same performance with a laptop with 7700hq and a GTX 1060 6GB. You should be getting better performance considering that you is running at a higher frequency. Maybe there is a CPU or ram bottleneck?

Yes, 1080p. Might be a CPU and RAM bottleneck, but I don't really know how to test for that. MSI Afterburner doesn't show CPU usage at 100% in those scenarios, and turning down some settings like Shadows to Medium or HBAO to SSAO yields some performance gains, so shouldn't that mean I'm GPU limited?

I might try setting the resolution scale to 0.90, the loss in sharpness shouldn't be too noticeable at my viewing distance when I'm playing on my TV.

I have a Geforce GTX 1080 with a i5 3570k at 4.2 ghz and 16gb of 2400 mhz ddr3 ram. Running the game at 1440p with everything on max, getting 48-68 fps, but it usually hovers around 55. Pretty good considering im way below the recommended cpu requirement.

Alt-F2 doesn't seem to be bringing up Ansel (and frame rate isn't showing when using the hotkey Alt-F12 either) - do you have to enable these outside of the utility or something?

Someone mentioned an .ini file for Ansel.

Go to your 'Program Files > Nvidia Corporation > Ansel > Tools' folder and open NvCameraConfiguration, then make sure 'NVCamera Status' is set to enabled at the bottom.

My friend rolled back her drivers to the last nvidia one. She now gets her SLI performance what it was in the trial. Mostly locked 60fps at 4K ultra. Most importantly, the game no longer has massive judders and choppy gameplay. It's actually smooth when the camera pans. She also no longer getting fps drops during cut scenes. The latest nvidia driver completely fucked SLI support at least with GTX 1080s. Can't confirm improvements on a single GPU. From what she's read, there shouldn't be a difference with single GPU between drivers. But she can confirm that SLI is night and day worse with the latest driver.

FPS dips in the 30s. When panning the camera everything comes to a crawl and gets choppy. Wild flux between 54 fps and 60 with random dips to 40 fps and even 33. Just an overall choppy mess.

But if you roll back the drivers and use the battlefield 1 profile for SLI, it's 10x better and actually smooth. Insane. Nvidia actual SLI support was much worse then when it didn't support SLI.

Is Origin really slow at downloading for anyone else? It usually tops out my internet speed but it's been stuck at about 2-3Mb/s since I started the download.

That's good to hear about the CPU. Have the i5 3570k too, but only a 780 GTX and 8GB ram. Hopefully should get similar-ish performance at 1080p with High instead of Ultra.

The lighting and shadowing are better on PC (as is LOD). Frame rate also has a big impact on presentation and fluidity/repsonsiveness. But that isn't going to change the bugs and animation issues that are baked right into the game at this point.

The lighting certainly isn't improved to pre-release alpha footage levels of complexity if that's what you're asking.
Hmm damn, thanks.

Is this origin only?

friend played 10 hours in the trial on the driver before the newest one. GTX 1080 SLI, using the battlefield 1 profile (as it didn't have a SLI profile yet). She was getting 60 fps locked with only a few dips, at 4K and most settings Ultra. Then after the retail game came out (and she foolishly upgraded to the new Nvidia Driver)...her performance has tanked, and fallen apart. Now she gets choppy gameplay. It seems like every 10 seconds of running around, fps dip 45-50 fps. Anytime she pans the camera, it become a stuttering mess, and dips in FPS (even as low as 44 fps). Even in interior sections like the ship, where it used to be locked 60 at all times in the trial, it will drop as low as 33fps! It will bounce from 55-60 constantly, but panning or just moving around will cause drops to 40fps, and then sometimes even 33. The whole thing is a mess. The difference between the Trial and the Retail version was Night and Day. Before it ran so smooth, now it's almost unplayable. A complete mess. At first she assumed it was the Nvidia driver that caused this. But since you are saying there isn't a big difference (and she's seen others around the web say the same), she's wondering - could it be on BioWare's end? Did the game get a patch, from the Trial to Day 1 release? Because someone she knows that is having the same issue, supposedly rolled back drivers and still has performance issues. And they suggested that it might be an in game patch, that has caused the massive performance issues. Is that possible?

Well, did she try using the same BF1 profile in the new driver as well? Because from what I can tell that's pretty much the only thing which changed in the new driver - it has a separate SLI bit for MEA (and Steep).

So do I need more RAM?

I'm running this on high at 1440p with the following:

1070
i7 4770 @3.5
8GB DDR3 RAM

I get good frames if I staty in a certain area. As soon as I start driving to a new area it seems like it takes a while for my PC to catch up to what the game wants to do, and it chugs until I'm there for a while (like 30 seconds). Is this a RAM thing?

EDIT: I've tried on multiple resolutions, all the way down to 720p, and it still seems to happen.

Are cutscenes stuttery? Just started, and the opening cutscenes were stuttering like crazy at the start of a new camera angle, like it was loading slowly on the fly. In game seems rock solid at 4k with my 1080s in sli and 6700k. But, the cutscenes were painful.

Yeah, during cutscenes I get this weird stutter that drops my FPS to 40 every time a scene switches or a character does something on-screen. GTX 1070 / i7-4790k / 16GB DDR3

Anybody's been able to get a refund using the EA Live Chat on Origin's website? I've been waitinf for like 4 hours now with the pop-up open but still nothing.

I'm not seeing the game under my account on the Refund page...

Yes the problem exists for me too. Frametimes are all over the place in all conversations.

Sounds like storage drive issue.

Although the game does suck up a lot of memory.

Drop resolution scaling to ~90% wont look too much blurier and your performance should shoot up.

I have a bravia 850c and hdr mode is separate from game mode. I could stomach it if I didn't absolutely need to have triple buffering on which I do because I can't get a locked 60 frames.

Try a different browser. EA's live chat never works for me on Chrome for example, it shows the waiting que but it does nothing.
