NieR: Automata |OT| "I wouldn't expect too much from this game if I were you."

Speaking of the amusement park in Route B,
that tank didn't attack me. It just fired balloons. Did it do this in Route A and it attacked because I was an asshole and hit it first or is this a Route B exclusive thing?

The mechanic that is introduced in Route B has been a huge shock regarding the harder enemies, as that kind of thing is not my forte. At all. Through teeth grinding, angry controller gripping repetition - and some very creative swearing - I think I've gone from winning 1/30 tries to 1/6. Fuck, really not fun at times, but I get how it can be OP if it was too easy. It probably still is super easy for some people! You bastards.
My first run in with a gold enemy was tank in the desert, and I haemorrhaged recovery items trying to take him down via hacking. It took absolutely ages to hack its health all the way down because I was so terrible. On the flip side, because of hacking, I was also able to later take down a few other enemies waaay above my paygrade that I was barely denting otherwise. I was thoroughly unimpressed when I realized I was going to have to hack down the Lvl. 60 Robo-Dojo robot twice! re: some of the hacking mini-games I have no idea how you could even get them without failing, but the depressing answer is probably to git gud.

Random, but I really like combat bracers for 9S.

Some of the harder maps are definitely crazy to clear. My GeoWars training has kind of paid off lol.

I finished the game this morning (all main endings) and I gotta say I'm pretty disappointed. I was waiting the whole time for the story to get better and it really didn't. I didn't care about any of the characters. 9S is irritating and boring
(not to mention boring to play as)
, 2B was only mildly interesting, and the other characters were all pretty unremarkable. I was expecting a crazy bizzare story judging from the previous games and it didn't deliver for me :(

The gameplay was pretty fun, however the amount of backtracking you have to do was absolutely unacceptable (FUCK that stupid factory). I liked the hacking segments because I like bullet hell stuff, but after a while it started to really get on my nerves. The game is just insanely repetitive.

The sidequests were mind-numbingly boring and navigating through the same places a hundred times just to finish them was excruciating. The stories in the sidequests also weren't memorable at all to me. I kept hearing about how this game will break your heart and make you feel sad, etc. and it never did. There was only a tiny bit more thought put into the side quests compared to the average RPG. I did all of the ones I found on the first playthrough and skipped the rest because running around the same areas over and over was making me want to blow my brains out.

I LOVE the soundtrack though, I really think it's fantastic. I just wish I didn't have to hear each song five billion times.

All in all it was okay, but the main reason I bought it was because I was very intrigued by the storylines of the previous games and this one wasn't nearly as interesting.

:(

It's hilarious (or fucked-up) because I was in total kill mode, and somehow managed to never hear 2B saying that we should ignore it. Took me way too long before I realized I didn't have to fight it...
Its actually a pretty interesting moment because you see a tank your brain automatically tells you to go on the defensive and get ready to fight. You have to go against your built in instinct right there. I slaughtered the entire courtyard of robots at the main gate before I finally realized that they were not attacking back.

It's a glorious troll moment and definitely intentional. It's a pretty good joke, really.

Reached the amusement park in Route B, i don't think i fully understand those
added cutscenes: the one in the desert about a god coming from the ground, the pne with the two pods talking, and the one about the machines and treasures
. Am i missing something? Is the game telling me to find things of different shapes?

They are backstory for the machines. The Pod conversations are character development for them.

:lol To be fair, I think that was the intent.

Wouldn't be surprised...

I noticed, and yet I still kill them from time to time. What is wrong with me lmao

I mean, 9S (or 2B? I cant remember) specifically
says to kill the tank because it might be trouble later, thats why I did it. I actually was pretty cautious of attacking stuff, even bosses I always waited to see if something would happen
:/

Did you maybe unequipped a weapon that gave you a discount at shops?

I never equipped a weapon that gives discount.
I used to buy small recovery items for 100G with 2B, and now playing 9S and shop at the bunker is selling it for 150 and medium for 300G etc.

More Route B spoilers.
After the Adam and Eve boss I swore I saw some kind of transparent young girl in a red dress for like a second. Was that there before? Am I seeing things?

Oh fuck I didn't even notice that. I am a monster and just killed everyone tho.

even the machines that were defenceless during the factory bit near the end of route A

you ARE a monster

Started another play through after finishing C and it seems like the game is starting over from scratch again. Did the prologue and everything was level 1-5 while I was level 71. End of credits mentioned something new that Anemone might say? And some
debug mode stuff
?

I didn't do it wrong, did I? Should I continue to play normally? Should I be looking into the
debug
stuff?

You can use mission select to go back to the final choice and pick the one you didn't do the first time.

You can use chapter select in the main menu to pick a point where you want to start so you can get the other endings

And its the lady with the mask on that has something new to say.

There's an android black dot on the map near the
dead Goliath
in the city ruins. I can't find it though, where is it?

Didn't know, didn't care. That shit was hamburger.

You guys are heartless. (end of route A spoilers)
I used the Pod to shoot all of the crazed machines that were killing other machines in the background near the end of the factory escape sequence because I felt so bad ;_;

I'm about 3 hours in. Done with the desert area and the game is already kind of intense lol

Was rewarded with a sweet room though.

Taro took his sweet time, but finally the feels are there in Route C.

Routes A & B feel like a prologue to the proper thing, which isn't necessarily a good thing. I feel that this game takes too long to get to the really impactful parts.

Route C wouldn't have any weight behind it without Routes A and B.

Did you play and enjoy the first game? Not sure what you expected...

I understand that, but it feels like it takes too long to get to the "good parts." Or I just don't feel that there's enough of them in the previous routes. Like, now that I'm on route C I'm constantly wondering, "what's gonna happen next" and eagerly awaiting the next twist and turn whereas I didn't feel that way while playing through A and B.

I loved Route A and B so *shrugs*

Route C Spoilers

I just
put 9S' sword in the lunar tears in front of Kaine's house with 9S and the song from the first game started playing and dammit

Probably because of the hype it's getting? For me, the mystery and lore had me hooked in A&B and I appreciate the slow build and time spent with the world, it's main protagonists, antagonists, and side characters like operator and pascal. I'm not sure it would have the same impact if a lot of that was rushed.
