Game Grumps (aka Egoraptor plays some games)

Since Jon's fallout I've been considering going through all of the backlog since he left and giving the new guy a fair try. While star bomb for me is extremely unfunny, I still hope I can change my mind on danny.

Any recommendation of their best playthrough to go over as I'm deciding whether it's worth a shot returning?

Danny is funny as hell, i prefere him to jon ( I already had this opinion when i was still a fan of jon) !

I recommend the Shadow of the colossus playthrough for fully appreciate danny!

If you want something short, there's this one i guess :

Dennis the Menace

it's hard to remember everything, i'll try to find some other ones

The sonic boom playthrough and the sonic adventure playthrough, they're both funny all the way through

Yup, Dennis the Menace is the episode where Danny really clicked for me.

Whoa, yeah, Danny is better than Jon in almost every way. Easy way to know if you like what they do now is to either watch some of the fan animated stuff or a best of compilation so you dont have to sit through a whole 40 episode playthrough of something.
Makes me laugh when hes wrong about something, like the name of the rat in ratatouille being Pierre. If the immature stuff was the appeal for you then some classic stuff has happened like the D club episode too.

Sometimes the stars align and Arin and I agree on something. Paya is best girl. However Arin seeming to know everything takes the fun out of it. I think I'll stop watching the playthrough.

Everyone's going to recommend old playthroughs, but a recent good one is The Wacky World of Mini Golf

Also anything with Jacob Anderson, but especially Shamu's Deep Sea Adventure

Yeah, those early Steam Trains were so bad. I know it was just them finding their footing and not knowing how to properly record PC output but eh. So bad.

Edit: Anyway, I think Danny is best when he and Arin are enjoying a game. Like the current Zelda, or my recommendation Super Mario 3D World. It's delightful. Also any of the classic Mario games.

I wish they'd replay Mario Land with Danny. The Jon one was classic, but they never beat it because Jon accidentally hit all the buttons and reset the game. They also gave up on Mario Land 2.

I love the kirby's dream course one.

Some other (lesser-known?) Danny recommendations would be ANY of the King's Quest, Space Quest, or Leisure Suit Larry games that they played on Steam Train. (They're with Ross, and I know some people don't like Ross, but he's pretty good in these.)

Also, the Steam Train where Arin, Ross, and Danny each play FTL is gold.

There are also some good episodes across various series where Dan gets real about something or has a legit heart to heart, and those moments are always pretty great.

It's all about Game Grumps VS. There's Kirby's Dream Course and the fan mod Grumps Dream Course. Checkers and Chinese Checkers. And Action Girlz Racing. And M&M's Beach Party. And NES Ice Hockey (Part 1 and Part 2). And Battle Chess.

For entertainment at Arin's expense, there's Battle Kid and tons of Super Mario Maker. For co-op shenanigans there's Super Mario 3D World and Shovel Knight. Dan's playthroughs of Out of This World and Heart of Darkness are also good.

Dan's a great guy though
and I pray to God every day that that never changes

I'm going through the shadow of the colossus and it has definitely helped me in liking Danny more. Maybe he's not as hilarious as Jon used to be for me, but he has definitely grown on me more and more. Will keep watching.

Danny brings something that jon couldnt, the experience of someone never playing a certain game before or not knowing about well known tropes and fun facts thats ben apart of gaming for decades, like for instance, he didnt know what hurting the cuccos in ALTTP would cause them to try to kill him, or he didnt know that zelda was shiek in OoT

Beyond that he's just really genuine, and he doesnt try to offend anybody

The bolded was such a cool moment to watch, having not known anyone that didn't know that since around the time the game came out, despite Arin accidentally dropping hints.

Arin's reaction to the Lynel is pretty much everyone's reaction when they encounter one for the first time.

But what the hell where is that first Blood Moon?

Arin gave it to him SOO MANY times in that playthrougn, and thankfully Danny just thought it was just arin being arin which makes it even more hilarious

Jesus christ I'm just waiting for the end of shadow of the colossus to see if it breaks Danny's heart. Yall weren't kidding that having somebody who hasn't experienced this really adds to the interest to keep watching. At this point he has already said he feels bad about killing them. I'll see if his heart is broken at the end.

I discovered Game Grumps after watching Arin and Danny's playthrough of Friday the 13th on the NES. My fiance and thought it was absolutely hilarious. I've been hooked on them since then, although it really depends on the game they're paying, I find.

Fun fact: I'm friends with Ethan Monte and I sent them games along with his copy of Wheel. Monte is forever a Game Grumps legend.

Goof Troop was amazing, classic old Grumps. Sonic 06 will forever be my favorite series, a shame that shit's always going to be tainted when I watch it now.

You know I agree with you, everything was just great in general back then, back way before we knew jon was a racist :(
Yeah, I loved early GameGrumps to death. Nothing will ruin that.

I'm glad I'm not alone. Goof Troop makes me smile like a child. It was just so good and perfect. Knowing I can always watch it again if I want to makes me happy.

And Sonic '06, while it's a casualty of ConspiracyGrumps, will always be great. But I can't bring myself to rewatch an unfinished series. Until this happened, I was still hoping and praying for a surprise "We're finishing this bitch" finale episode GuestGrumps. But now I don't even care. Maybe in a few years if Jon repents and gets his brain back. Which means never. Probably. If it happens, I'll watch it. (Providing all politics stay out and only for the novelty of the game being finished once and for all) But it'll never happen and that's okay now.

Also, Jacob Anderson is my favorite guest they've gotten on. His "american accent" at the end of this video DESTROYS ME.

It's just like my favorite Game of Thrones scene.

While you're at it, maybe watch his solo playthrough of Space Quest. It's not hilarious or anything but it's pretty chill. Something he brings to the table are these down to earth moments like that one episode of Wind Waker.

And yeah, Goof Troop is hands down the best Jon era series. Some might argue Sonic 06 but that had huge chunks of boring episodes that amounted to pretty much nothing. Had moments of greatness but was too inconsistent as a whole.

Yeah, when it comes to fond memories of early Grumps, I guess you could say JonTron put a hole in that *honk*

...It hurts not being able to enjoy Back in Mississippi like I used to :(

This will always be the moment I realized GameGrumps was something special...

Fuck it, I'm watching the whole series again tonight. Or tomorrow night. I dunno.

Started watching their Snipperclips videos last night. God, that game is just too damn adorable.

This post resulted in my watching this video for the third time and it still brought me to tears with laughter. That streak of spins between both of them was absolutely incredible.

I really love the Zelda 2 and Castlevania 2 play throughs - Arin complains a little at the start of both, but they really turn into something great when Danny is clearly having so much fun. Hes also really excellent at Zelda 2.

If i'm having a crappy day i tend to watch one of these as Danny always cheers me up.

I wish Erin would stop with the "I'm going to pre" shit. Was annoying from the start when the video editors were doing it and it's getting old.

I really wish Danny would take the time to learn to play the 3D zelda's and take the lead on them, it would be such a treat to watch him play through them for the first time.

Goof Troop episode 1 rewatch:

"Let's go talk to this Mexican."
"Why are there Mexicans in this game?"
"Mexicans!"

Although I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be islanders, Jon. What are you, racist?

Also Jon expresses interest in King's Quest, a PC game, wondering if there's a version on SNES. Ironic since they didn't play any of those games until Jon left and Steam Train started.

Yeah I watched the first goof troop episode and just did the biggest side eye at that remark.

I forgot how episodes used to end before they started doing the end slate. The abrupt cutoffs could be amazing sometimes.

Edit: Oh, and I just want to once again mention one of my favorite classic episodes:

Nintendo Land: The Eye of the Kong

Namely the linked time code with the unexpected MIDI version of "Beautiful Night" by Ace of Base. But the whole episode is pure gold thanks to the wonderful editing from the still unseen Barry. The man knew how to edit an episode.

Edit: Episode 2, Jon: "Don't make slavery jokes. Not funny."
