I still wish they made a Tomb Raider movie that was more faithful to the tone of the first game, rather than the Xtreeme movies with Angelina Jolie. I had no idea this movie was even being made, and I haven't played a Tomb Raider game since the late 90s, so I don't even know what being faithful to the games means anymore.

I could at least understand Gadot to a point, given her inexperience as an actress and not really making much of on an impression in the films she has already done. Vikander is already a known quantity and has gotten raves for her work.

Looks good. I hope this breaks the curse since I loved the recent reboot this is clearly based on. Warcraft wasn't terrible but was seriously hampered by its reverance to the insanely convoluted lore. TR shouldn't have that problem so fingers crossed.

She's an attractive european brunette. What else do you need to nail with Lara? It's based off the rebooted version of the character, and they seem to have nailed that look.

I'm also fairly sure that Vikander is a more talented actress than a lot of the alternative suggestions that'll probably pop up in this thread.

I would say the only better casting for this would have been Emily Blunt, only because I believe she has the right charisma, sexines, and proven physicality. but she's too busy being Mary Poppins right now which I think is an even better choice for her.

That's fair, Emily Blunt would probably be an ideal choice for a modern take on traditional Lara, but I can't see how she would fit for an adaptation of TR2013, which this seems to be.

Go watch Ex Machina, The Danish Girl, The Man from U.N.C.L.E and you will see why there is reason to be excited. She has talent.
