Remember when Bungie said there wouldn't be a Destiny 2 and Destiny would just get a ton of updates for years to come?

Can't wait to see the hype build up and crash for this. Y'all never learn (unless you actually really liked the first one).

The only thing crashing and burning is your post. DeeJ, the Bungie community manager, said they want to earn the right to put a number on the box for a sequel.

Ok, let's talk about Zelda.

So how many legends are there exactly?
As far as I know, those games don't use numbers besides Zelda II. Either way, you could say that all of the LoZ games are part of the same legend.

FF XIII 2 is a better example I suppose as someone else pointed out.

And for the record, I have absolutely no issue with the name Destiny 2.

Yeah that was really awesome, when that never happened.

The build up to Destiny 2 is going to be exhausting isn't it?

Where is the pre order announcement? Show me please.

I mean unless we're arguing semantics it's right there in the OP. It not being in the Twitter is meaningless, this is supposedly an announcement and this is all we have. If you want to argue semantics we can take the pre-order bonus out, then we have an announcement with just a logo. That's even worse.

DeeJ says a lot of shit. Im hoping for something good since the original vision and marketing pr was what i wanted from the game, let's hope this time they know how to make it.

I tried to like Destiny more, to find what's really exceptional or engaging about it, and I'm always left feeling like something is off with the game. I didn't even think the Bungie 'polish' was that impressive. It has long load times, awkward world navigation... it's fine, but nothing extraordinary.

I'm not even sure if the game world is interesting enough to provide anything more. It's just kind of... there. Contrast that with Mass Effect- now that is sci fi that begged to be fleshed out more. Who didn't want to revisit that world?

Destiny plays well enough, but it's safe and not that exciting to learn. Warframe, on the other hand, has so much more going for it in terms of player creativity, builds and skill.

That's what I'm looking for in Destiny 2. If it can actually make a sci fi world worth exploring and being interested in, and the game mechanics actually have some meat on the bones, it will be worth it.

X1 users & Scorpio users are playing on the same network environment - you're not going to be seeing 30fps players playing with 60fps players. It'll be whatever the X1 version is running at.

I wish they'd make the standard PS4/XB1 versions 60fps (or unlocked fps) so that all console models could run the game at 60, but since it's Bungie, I'm sure they're going with as much eye-candy as possible at 30.

Captain Hero

The Spoiler Soldier
The Traveler sacrificed itself to stop an extraterrestrial threat that attempted to wipe the entire human race from existence

So are we gonna see how it's began?

Why the traveler stayed floating this whole time ?

What's down there ? Who the fuck is the speaker? Is he now ready to tell us about the great battle? Or he will just use the same fuckin words " I could tell you "

I think you're missing the point. Strip the pre-order bonus out. We have an announcement with a logo. That's about as hollow of an announcement as we could have hoped for.
Cool. Pre order bonus has nothing to do with the announcement, y'all keep bringing it up like Activision announced just a pre order bonus and not the game.

Is it just me or does Destiny have the most misinformation swirling around details of it's development? 10 year cycle. $500m budget. etc. It's dumb because there's plenty of real stuff you could harp on like them insisting they had no control over Xur's inventory or that one time they swore that they purposely changed a stat by like half a percentage point (or a tenth, can't remember) instead of admitting they just put the decimal point in the wrong place.

I'm pretty sure current lore says Traveler is a punk ass bitch that we forced to stay when it tried to run away. That damage was caused by Rasputin.

As a note I could be wrong but that is what I remember and understand.

I wish it was more open world mmo'ish, with different towns and shops, rather than just open a menu and select return to hub in between every game.

Let's take some context here... someone leaked a poster. The news was already out. Bungie came out and said, yeah, it's coming.

I don't for a second think their original plan was to drop an image as the sole announcement.

The leak forced their hand and the cat was out of the bag....

I...I literally just said ignore the pre-order bonus. It's the announcement itself. This is the biggest new IP this gen. Where's the bombastic announcement trailer? Honestly when Press Sneak Fuck (love you really Jason) said an announcement is next week I thought it was more than a tweet.

Ok that makes more sense. I still think it's a bit weird for a game like this to be affected by a poster leak though, just because literally everybody knew there's a sequel coming. It's been planned before the first launched.

I mean odds are we are getting a trailer in the next few days. This is just an image to get the hype machine going, exactly like what Rockstar did with Red Dead.

Why are you just assuming this is all that is going to happen?

Yeah we probably will shortly. I dunno I just hate these sorts of announcements even worse than pre-rendered trailers. Same as with RD3 I really wish they would just cut to the chase and show their hand.

Judging by Shinobi's leak it sounds like they are more going down this road / style. He said the plan was for vastly larger play spaces, with towns and they were trying to avoid going into / waiting in menus as much as possible

I'm expecting a trailer tomorrow to coincide with the final Destiny 1 update.

I am sure we will see some form of a trailer in April at the latest May, with a full gameplay reveal at E3 on Sony's stage.

Then why even announce it with a pic that contains no info? Not even the platform the game will release on?

I thought people universally disliked announcements of announcements but apparently not.

I think this holds true for most MP or MMO loot games, they are only as much fun as the people you are playing them with. Essentially the game is just a vehicle for hanging out with friends and looting. Destiny took that a step further on by offering a couple of awesome raids and compelling activities to keep you around. It reached a lot of folks who never Ed played an MMO before and it turn out that they loved.

If the cat was out of the bag, they could have released more info at least. If the leak "forced their hand" it clearly didn't force it too much. We know literally nothing we didn't 2 weeks ago right now.

Your post I was replying to was in regards to the toy, disregarding that means disregarding your whole original post. The game was leaked, this is clearly not how they wanted to announce it, a trailer will come.

Wait how was it leaked when they put it on their official Twitter? Or did the preorder leak first.

They could've... but I imagine they feel the need to give their Destiny 1 drop the spot light and the rest of the marketing will stay on course.

Then they could have just waited a couple days. Not sure what this "announcement" even accomplished. Everyone knew Destiny 2 was coming.
