Have you ever bought a game because a hot girl/guy was in it

Is it really 'falling' for it if you're self aware and you don't give a fuck? You like what you like. I doubt your friend is actually some dullard idiot like the way you seem to be phrasing it.

I mean, he didn't care that Nier Automata was a good game, he just saw those ass images and decided to buy it. He also bought THIS game for the same reason (and that was a shit game). I mean, he's my friend (and a very good one) and I don't think he's an idiot, but I don't know how else to call it except for "falling for it" if you buy game due a hot girl in the cover or the screenshots.

I haven't bought a game specifically because of the characters being attractive, but I'm certain that I've looked into a game (or a hundred) I otherwise wouldn't have paid attention to because of an eye-catching character design somewhere in the advertising or gameplay videos.

As an example: I very obviously tend toward fighting games with attractive character designs. Now, granted, what I have played of the various NRS and other "fugly fighters" I didn't enjoy anyway, but I never even gave most of them a second look.

The MMOs I've played have had robust character creators with the ability to create good-looking characters. I never bothered to try most of the ones where you're beholden to create a seething boil of misshapen polygons out of the gate (classic WoW excepted).

Can't say I have. A lot of games I bought that happen to have good looking girls in them weren't bought for the girls in particular. However, the girls being good looking is a nice bonus.

I would wager a ton of people have, even if they don't say so.

I definitely have. I can say I gravitate towards any game that lets you play as a female main character. Only because it's so far from the norm.

I have to admit this had quite an effect on me:

...as did the google image search I just used to find it.

Well, I imported the Asia version of DOAX3 Saikyou package which got you both the PS4 and Vita versions, and I own all the Senran Kagura games so I guess I have, lol.

For that reason alone?

No.

Has it made me more interested in or excited about a game?

Yes.

Has it ever made me curious about a game to later buy it or not buy it on a wider range of factors?

Yes.

Can I also say this of cool art in general?

Yes.

More often, I find a character hot after playing her game tbh.

Yes.

Fear Effect. I knew it was a kind of RE ripoff, but having the girls and all the "controversy" at the time definitely helped sell me the game.

DOA is another good example (Kasumi FTW!).

Tomb Raider had some sex appeal that def drove sales up (digital Lara was later on damn Playboy at one point). Would lie if I didn't admit Lara was a reason for my being a TR fan growing up.

Sudeki on OXbox, that cover basically sold me on the game (I was debating it, and yes, female character did help push that to a sale from me).

Edit: Thanks for posting the Parasite Eve girl. Another one right there. All of these I knew what the games were, but the sex appeal def helped in selling the game to me at those times.

She kicks high.

That was NOT the reason why I bought DOA3 (it was because I didn't have anything else besides Halo and Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions to play), but the topic reminded me of the commercial.

I'm not into men but DMC3 Dante was the kind of hot guy I'd like to control, so I guess that counts. The thread never said you had to be attracted to the character right?

i bought bayonetta because cliffy b said that if he could have worked on another dev game it would be bayonetta, but also she is hot

I've looked into games because they had characters I thought were cute, but overall if it's not a genre I enjoy or something I won't buy it.

Same! I'm not really into the Devil May Cry games but when I saw him I had to play it. Loved every second too.

Real talk, when they introduced Dante in DmC it struck me that this was likely the first game character I've seen that was designed to be attractive to people interested in men in the same way that nearly every female character is designed to be attractive to people interested in women.

No but i'm pretty picky when it comes to character design. If a game as character design that i think is terrible (Fire Emblem fates) it will probably completely turn me off.

Is there any need for this chest thumping in here? It's not a bad thing to be attracted to both real and fictional characters. You don't have to threadshit about how you're too cool to think a fictional person would ever possibly be attractive.

Pictures of food don't look delicious to me.

I hate movies because I'm not LIVING IT.

I've never felt anything while reading a book because if it doesn't exist... fuck it.

I bought Senran Kagua on Vita. I stand by that game as a solid Dynasty Warriors clone, whatever that is.

Totally got into the FFXIII series after seeing Snow's character design in previews for Lightning Returns. I feel no shame in this.

I've also sold games based on sex appeal, back when I worked at Gamestop. Ain't nothing placates a middle-aged mom more than to have a sexy dude like Nathan Drake as the focus of her kid's violent video game.
I also explained that Uncharted isn't hyper-violent and is basically Indiana Jones: The Video Game, but damn that mom was psyched by how hot the guy on the cover was.

There are some video game characters over time that I've found attractive, but I can't recall any time where that had any real bearing on my decisions to purchase or not purchase a game. If anything it just ends up being a pleasant surprise or bonus.

Moose Biscuits

It would be extreamly painful...
I don't know if I've bought a game specifically because of hot girls, but I'm sure it's influenced my decisions to an extent, which I am fine with.

I did preorder Senran Kagura EV, but that's more because I admire the moxie of a man like Takaki and think he needs support, also the games are alright.

But yes anime boobs are good, what were we talking about?

It happens sometimes. I bought Razor's Edge primarily because I wanted to play as Ayane and Kasumi. That was fun. A hot girl will always get my interest.

Nope, but I have bought a game because of some hot as fuck space ships. My Connie gets me hot and bothered.

All the guys that play the game with her in it know what I'm talking about. Fucking sexy!

Of course. Do you think people buy DoA Extreme for gameplay? I like sexy ladies in video game, especially adult lady like Eva (mgs3), Ada Wong or Quistis. Sadly look like moe girls are dominating female game characters right now.
