What is your Switch travel case solution (if any)?

I absolutely hate that this thing leaves extra room for the system to flop around in.
Are there any soft cases that are a tight fit for just the console? I don't need to carry around games, or anything accessories. Just the system.

And the flap doesn't cover the whole screen? That's no good.

What case is this?

So while I wait to find one switch at the store. I think I will just order the case for now. Can someone suggest me the skinniest and best fit? I dont care about the internal space. All I will put is the switch and a charging cable.

I honestly don't like how big and hefty the general sizes of Switch cases are, so I ended up going for a general smart fit case.

As you can see, I detach the joycons to put them in a seperate pocket, while the switch takes up the main one.

It may not be the safest solution, but I honestly find it more elegant in my case. The only issue is that its a bad idea to put in a backpack with lots of stuff over it since the joycon sticks are easily going to be pressed in quite often.

It depends on your budget. The waterfield pouch is definitely the skinniest I've seen but it cost $49.

Is there anything wrong with the Hori Tough Case or is it OK as a cheap purchase for now? Just got a £30 Amazon voucher so was thinking of grabbing an amFilm screen protector, this Hori case and this UGREEN USB 3.0 to Ethernet adapter. Anything I should avoid there or are they all OK?

Edit: messed up my URL links on mobile :/
I have the Hori tough case and it's absolutely fine. Build quality is fine, it's a semi-hard shell so plenty of protection and no pressure on the sticks, while the outer shell is not completely rigid (which could be uncomfortable to carry in a bag). Soft material on the inside, extra padding for the tablet screen, a snug fit for the tablet with joy-cons attached and space for 5 game cards.

I'm very pleased with the purchase so far.

The Waterfield pouch looks absolutely great, but holy s*** for the international delivery + customs, $47 so essentialy double price for me. Have to think about this a bit more, I do have the RDS case which is very good but isn't as elegant as I'd like.

I'm still using the standard official case for the time being. It does the job of avoiding scratches while in my bag. I'll probably pick up something more sturdy when I take it on a flight in July.

I've gotta say though, the makeshift stand that the case creates is perfect. It gives me the perfect angle on my desk at work to play during my lunch. Bliss.

It doesn't show grizzly leather color as an option for me, just a few others. May be it's a mobile thing...
That's weird. I can order that item on my phone right now. It's not sold out since these products are currently in production. Maybe try it again? The next shipment is April 21

Took the Keten to work.

The half that the switch sits in is not shaped to fit it. I think it's snug enough, but basically only tight in the 4 corners.

The flap doesn't fully cover the screen.

The joycon pouches are much tighter than i expected. Feels like a hassle to get cons in and out without being rough on the sticks? Also maybe possible to click the sticks by squeezing the case while closed, whereas rds gives them lots of room.

Seeing the design of the joycons-off butterfox, I think I maybe should have gotten that instead. I much prefer the look of its zippered pouch for joycons. :/

EDIT: maybe the little pouches are fine? I hope they don't create wear on the sticks. I think the only reason I have some buyers remorse is cause the butterfox looks so similar but higher quality, and you can actually fit 4 joycons in the butterfox zippered pouch.

Heh I think that's basically the left half of the smaller bag I got, pretty nice how small you can pack this thing.

Course the joycon straps are a bit annoying if you keep those around (mainly to make the shoulder buttons usable in multiplayer stuff), not even the attachment itself...just the strap. Tried putting them in front pockets but the strap length leaves a chunk to deal with, easiest thing is just chucking it in the bottom of the main pocket area under the system.

I kind of agree with your points but in any case I think they are pretty minor imo. Having said that I don't know this butterfox one you mention, I only know the one that holds the switch with the JoyCon controllers attached to it.

Looks like the RDS Case in the plain black mesh design has increased in price at Amazon and Gamestop to $24.99 USD. The designs with Zelda are still $19.99 at Amazon and on the Nintendo Store. No idea if it's the new MSRP, or a temporary retailer increase due to demand.

I noticed this as well. Maybe I'll hold off.

Reading the reviews for the Butterbox case the company says they modified the case to be larger so the swtich can be pulled out easier and the triggers arent depressed when in place. Can anybody confirm, thanks?

The Waterfield City Slicker case is so nice. Glad I returned the Official Nintendo one (though the Waterfield is significantly more expensive). If you have the spare cash, I highly recommend it.

I really want to get this one but there are a surprising number of reviews that say it smells like an ash tray.. What a strange thing.

edit: I guess this has been talked about a lot in the thread. I think I'll take my chances.

I got one yesterday from the nintendo store. Maybe mine was different batch but the odor is not bad on mine, smells like new shoes.

Love this case, now I can confidently carry it around without praying nothing gets scratched. Very snug, and the game cartridge cases are a major plus. My only grip is the cartridges cases don't grip your carts, meaning the carts will pop out if you are not careful.

I have the smaller one. I don't have any issues with depressed triggers and it's not impossible to remove the tablet. But again, I have the smaller one. I suspect it never had these two issues in the first place.

Smaller one is better IMO. Much more portable.

That Waterfield case is really nice. Looking at the website the brown/grizzly leather looks slick, but I also like the red and the blue. But at 79$, yikes, I don't know.

Really love that waterfield case. I want one but if I get one then I'll have to get one for my wife. I'm not interested in spending 160 bucks on switch cases today.

Yeah I was looking at the bigger one but I might take a look at the smaller one too, thanks

I've got the official nintendo carrying case but I'm thinking about cutting out the insert where you store games/ its also a stand. I'm all digital so I won't be carrying any carts with me and it feels just slightly too snug for my lucking with that big insert in there.

anyone else considered this?

I would leave it personally because it helps protect the screen and takes some of the pressure off of the analog sticks.

No, not at all. How does it make it snug? If anything it's putting a padding on the screen while giving room for the joycons to extend. I don't think you should do it.

protect the screen from what? it's in a case? am I putting it in the case wrong? I'm sitting the switch ON TOP of the insert, and then closing it

Ya, you're doing it wrong. Put the flap with the hole in the middle on top of the screen.

If done right it should be Nintendo logo sitting on top, then the flap that holds the games/turns the stand, that goes on top of the system, and then the case should be resting on the Nintendo Switch logo side.

I think you are. The insert should lie on top of the screen (which both cleans and protects the screen). It also adds material so that if there is pressure on the case, the analog sticks won't take all of the pressure (which is important given that it is a soft case).

that seems strange to me, I'd really rather not have that thing sitting on top of the screen

It's a padded layer and meant to do that to give room for the analog sticks.

Think about it, would that be any different than just the top of the case touching it? It's kind of a similar thing.

Got my Waterfield City Slicker. I am very happy with it so far. Was surprised when it shipped on Friday and arrived on Saturday. I guess it was fast because I live in the Bay Area.

They even wrote a personal note on my invoice thanking me for buying from them again. (I bought the 3DS version a few years ago)

Great company and a great product.

Okay did this and it's better. The way I was doing it had too much pressure on the sticks. I figured the Nintendo switch logo would be the "front" of the case is why I was confused. It's even presented that way on the packaging

Ya, the first time I saw it, I was confused by way they positioned the logos too because it implies a different orientation. So I totally hear ya and understand you on that.

Just came in to say that my Waterfield cases (I got the larger bag and the Switch-sized case) that were originally scheduled for like April 7th arrived early today.

Really, really wonderful. They put a lot of care into these things. The larger bag is super slick, there's like a hand-stitched leather strap that has slots for holding Switch carts tucked into one of the pockets, and the front pocket that is meant to hold tablets is lined with a really soft fleece-type fabric. Quite happy with both of them.

I just received the Butterfox Case off of Amazon and it's great so far. Went with the all black and the wider one to fit the joycons while docked to the switch still.

It is actually not too tight for the switch itself, has little cutouts for the shoulder buttons and the updated version has no elastic bands which is nice. You velcro the middle part to secure it and it makes transitioning the switch from in and out of the case a breeze.

Also there is plenty of room for some accessories in the top zipper compartment. Currently I have my Google 18W USB C charger with cable and earbuds.

Got my Switch yesterday and was finally able to try out the RDS case. It fits in fine, but there is definitely room for the Switch to shift horizontally. Is anyone else finding this to be the case, or does your Switch not move at all?

I just pulled the joycons out of my Keten case with 0% battery after only using them a couple hours since I charged them a few days ago.

I suspect their buttons (or stick clicks?) might be getting mashed in there and running them down.
