levious

That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.
I like the simplicity of the idea that he liberates this future from his evil

then travels back in time, liberates the past from his evil and creates an alternate timeline of good. And he is honored and remembered in all of them.

I always felt like the past was lost, and he'd eventually have to find peace with "just" saving the future. But I am certainly open to whatever they have planned.

It'd be crazy if the high priestess turned out to be Princess Mira still pissed about that failed ambush on Jack

It's been 50 years, I doubt anyone from the past stories is still alive unless they kept her as very very old (possible). But it makes me sad to wonder what happened to the scotsman, or even the SAMOORAIII in all these years

Man, I love the new intro too. The way Jack says the "Gotta get back" line as if it was an old nursery rhyme in that world really adds to the whole tone of the new season.

If they can keep this quality up throughout the whole season, I think Samurai Jack should go down as a landmark show in television. At least as one of the best animated shows ever.

Not that I think the princess would be the high priestess since she hated Aku but 50 years isn't that long. I'm sure people are living to be 100+ with all the cyborg tech they have in the future. I don't know about the Samoorai but the Scotsman is still alive.

If you ask me it was always one of the best animated shows ever.

The Scotsman is apparently coming back.

Next episode spoilers / speculation

Well, he did get knocked out this past episode. Maybe he survives the fall but gets knocked out from it and a monster swallows him whole while he's unconscious.

The monster is going to be waiting at the bottom with his mouth open, it breaks his fall but well... He gets eaten.

Spoilers for next episode:
Looking at the description for the next episode that's pretty much what happens. Him and Ashi get eaten whole.

Eh, that seems like it'd be a twist for the sake of having a twist

no, it'd be jack finally coming to understand what his father once said to him: that Aku's victories are not Jack's failures. Countless people have suffered and died struggling against Aku, but countless people still (and robots and aliens and shit) are still alive to be saved, and once Jack comes to terms with being unable to return to the past, he'll resolve to free the present world by whatever means possible, instead. I think it'd be a fitting ending and a great place to take Jack's character.

The comic series already gave this ending.
lol ain't that some shit

edit: o.0

What I imagine from Ending:
  • Jack defeats Aku and either through Aku's own self deprication/intervention of his ancestors/whatever, gains the knowledge to truely banish Aku for real.
  • Gains acess to a time portal, I kind of doubt the guardian one still exists, I feel like Jack never had the opportunity to get a clean blow on the true form of Aku and like a portal would be cut out of his essence or some crap. Jack, with disturbing violence, ricochets through time uncontrollably until conditions far to cheesy to even bother with stop his plummet.
  • Jack appears in the past but it is "wrong". He contemplates it being Aku's magic or trickery poisoning the timeline or his mind. It turns out he is in the time of his father the Emperor's first crusade against Aku. Son and Father duo to fight Aku, defeat him, scene mimmicks Emperors original attempt to seal him back to the earth except the sword is pointed to the sky and Aku is sent back to the gods who smite him. Aku is finally destroyed in all space and time.
  • World turns white. Reset to baby Jack playing with ball, smiles with father overlooking what would've been Aku infested land instead being the beauty similar to post-decay Japan in like Season 2 SJ.
Or you know, Genndy could just fuckin destroy my mind like he's been doing.

to be fair, everybody wasn't shit 'cause the show got cancelled anyway

If I remember right the ending was supposed to be in the form of a theatrical movie but after the Power Puff Girls movie failed at the box office it was canned and the show wasn't renewed.

I think the movie was what Genndy was trying for after it got cancelled, and that's what eventually became Season 5.

yeah just watched the last one, this show is something else, the images. I just want to buy stills and arrange them around my office covering a whole wall like a montage.

actually if I could get stills and then string them out in order to match the story that would be pretty cool.

The season (the whole show really) needs an artbook bad. I'd be all over that shit.

The stylization alone blows 99% of all other animated shows out of the water. It's insane.

That's the beauty of Samurai Jack. Each scene tells a story on its own without any dialogue.

Speculation:

I'm expecting Jack's fate to run similar to Lava Monster. Once he returns to the past, time catches up to him and he has to race against literal time to defeat Aku of the Past while aging rapidly.

I'm honestly expecting the series to end with Jack entering the portal, then it fades to black. A more ambiguous ending would be more my style, anyway.

Hm. I could see something like this happening.
I'm still debating if the shot of Jack silhouetted and bloody in the cave was supposed to be intentionally evocative of the Lava Monster.

Genndy and company knew Season 5 was the last of the original run and had the option to make a proper "finale," but decided against it. Genndy waited until he could do it the way he wanted instead of truncated as the final part of Season 5.

Finally saw it on rerun. Whaaaaaaaaat? Wowzers, I imagine not everything there was resolved, but this show continues to deliver. This has to be the best comeback ever.
