Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Launching August 22, $39.99

I've honestly just gotten used to the fact that ND will change characters' appearance in their games. I still think its a little weird but Im OK with it.

Yeah I'm curious on that. Is Amazon even doing it? I've been waiting to see if they'd update the preorder listing to mention it, so far they haven't yet. I don't often preorder things, but an Uncharted game at launch for $32 that comes with another game I've never played before is a pretty cool deal that I wouldn't mind paying for.

I guess it's a matter of just checking the store page every once in a while to see if Jak and Daxter gets added to the Amazon preorder... I haven't preordered it, but I'd definitely think about it if that bonus gets added in.
Amazon is usually good with the pre order options. I think they'll update after a little while.

Edit: The more I look at it, she looks like a completely different person in Lost Legacy. Must just be a combination of them trying to make her look older and the PS4's power compared to PS3.

All the returning Uncharted 4 characters look like completely different people to me. Naughty Dog didn't really do anything to maintain their likenesses; stuff like bone structure and hairlines are completely different, particularly with Sully. I got used to it eventually, though, and obviously you aren't going to confuse them for different people when you hear the right voices come out of their mouths.

I wish I was excited for this. I'm a big Uncharted fan. But nothing about this looks interesting to me. I sure hope the gameplay is fun and it's not all walking around, puzzles, etc.

Anyone else in the same boat, feeling a real lack of excitement?

What makes you think it's going to deviate significantly from the action-oriented gameplay that we've established with the Uncharted series? At the very least, the baseline for gameplay is what we've tried to establish with all the games to date, and U4, from which it's based.

Some will always complain. In the end it's still your choice how to approach the gameplay and storytelling.

For me it's more than the gameplay, the mythological/spiritual aspect surrounding lost legscy Is what that's got me super excited! I kinda missed seeing supernatural/mythological element return in uc4!

That's one standard-ass boxart! A bit expensive I'd say, but I'll check it out nontheless. Never liked Chloe to be honest, but we'll see.

wow, that theme is decent. too bad us people who bought the season pass probably can't get it.

So wait - unique waterfall elements, spray, dynamic texturing on the water, layered alphas for nonlinear shifting mists, cloudlayers, custom cameras behaviors, seamless environmental audio and cramming it all in 16 mb of memory is lazy because it didn't include music?

Hmm.

Oh, Funny story by the way, I made the theme.

very nice job. i always turn off the music anyway

Thanks for taking the time to respond. That's comforting to hear that there will still be action.

I guess the shift to a new character combined with the reveal video which was a lot of walking around had me a bit worried. Also the fact that Uncharted 4 was already moving to fewer set pieces and more traversing. Additionally, I thought I read in an interview that this would be somewhat experimental and have more puzzles.

Insane For Sony
Well the explanation they gave is that they didn't expect to make this into a larger game like they eventually decided to do. Also, they give you a J&D if you preorder now to make up for it, which is not bad IMO. I mean not bad if you're interested in J&D, as it will probably be $10-15 to buy.

In Naughty Dog I trust. :)

Did not even you and I mean Shaun Escayg, Creative Director and Kurt Margenau, Game Director said they wanted back to the Uncharted 2 feeling? I definitely getting that vibe. :D

So pumped for this game.

How do people feel about the the subtle changes to Chloe's look? Think I prefer the Uncharted 3 version.

It's not just the visual element that's different here. Chloe is now half-Indian so they decided to change up her design to reflect that expanded origin (as opposed to just doing a straight visual upgrade).

I think that's great, the new design looks wonderful. You can tell they put a lot of thought into her current design because she does look for more Indian.

i always though she looked a little...odd in 3, very big hair, very square jaw. at least compared to the way she looked in 2. lost legacy version seem to be more like U2 to me, with a bit more emphasis on her Indian side. i like it.

one thing i will say though, is something about her new design makes her look quite masculine, and i'm not sure what's causing it, she actually looks quite similar to drake.

39€? So I expect it to be much longer than an usual DLC!

Will preorder it on PSN probably, not particularly interested in the physical edition.

I'm a Naughty Dog stan but these trailers haven't sold this game well to people who aren't. I already love these characters, so the plodding nature of these trailers doesn't bother me in the slightest. But they don't seem to incite a stronger reaction than "gee wiz! Look at those graphics!"

I expected this second video to be a bit more bombastic, a bit more "and this is why you should be excited for this!" but maybe they're saving that for the final trailer.

Well, it feels like there was already a deviation from U1/2/3 going into U4. Plus there has not been much gameplay showcased for this as far as I know. Personally, that is why I wonder about it.

E3 is roughly 2 months from now and the game comes out in late August.

When they showed all the set pieces that was a problem for ppl as well. Gameplay will be like 4 so I'm fine with this stuff they're showing I already know what to expect gameplay wise

I prefer the quieter cinematic trailers personally, gives a good tone and vibe to expect.
Every one and their grand mother knows there will be crazy set piece action, it's Uncharted after all! Keep that good shit under wraps.

I'm still extremely salty ND thought it was a good idea to showcase their most explosive moment from UC4 i.e. insane car chase sequence at E3 2015.
Would much rather experience all that for myself with fresh eyes.

I agree with KORNdoggy

The one that looks off to me is the Uncharted 3 one (everyone looks off in U3)

For me the Lost Legacy Chloe looks like a new gen more photo-realistic version of the U2 one.

And I posted the video you linked. :)

That's is beautiful theme, do you know if this will be available to buy separately? I purchased the triple pack expansion so can't pre-order or get any bonuses like this, would like to slap that theme on.

I was more surprised that it was the only one of that magnitude in the game. However, the game had a solid flow, so cramming another massive set piece in there probably wouldn't have worked.

It seems slightly controversial to admit it on Gaf these days but I really loved UC4. I thought it's pacing was really bold and served the narrative and characters well. I reckon the compressed nature of this expansion will make it feel a bit like the Uncharteds of old.

ALSO: Chloe looks phenomenal. All this chatter about her looking a bit too ethnic or masculine is hella SUS.

Uncharted 3 Chloe was honestly awful. She looked like a stock Poser model in 3.

Lost Legacy actually looks like a human being. I really like her look in 4. It looks like an evolution on 2, which was a great model.

That's what they mean. Uncharted 4 had the most worst pacing, boring, lots of walking and talking, lots of climbing, terrible replayability. Better off just watching this movie in YouTube with minimal gameplay.
Please go back to proper fun action games like Uncharted 2. I was really disappointed by Uncharted 4 and many others too not on GAF. If it really is like Uncharted 4 ima pass not much different than Movie i means Order 1886

Luckily it's too late in the dev cycle for them to attempt to follow this suggestion. Don't think they would if there was time TBH.

I agree about the setpieces. Uncharted 4 also had many more intimiate setpieces, scaled down but still a scripted gameplay sequence in the same vein, like the car one while exploring Madagascar. That was pretty cool. I didn't mind the amount of setpieces at all. Uncharted 3 was hurt by having too many for the sake of having them, imo. Felt really forced.

I don't agree about the pacing at all, though. Like, I can agree with what you're saying in theory, especially since you're calling it bold, but the problem is not the concept of not having shooting. I'm not some moron who can only have fun when he's shooting at people. The problem is that the game itself failed at providing meaningful interaction outside of that. This has always been true for the series, but the standard of quality people expect from certain elements when they're simply downtime between action segments is much lower than when they become the meat of the experience. It's not that I hate platforming and exploration, it's that holding forward while Drake talks about how dangerous it is, is not exactly engaging. It has a distinct lack of player agency for too much of the game. I actually don't have an issue with the slow start at all, I was very much into it at first. It was around chapter 10 that the game lost me.

I can totally understand people who say they don't really care about that and loved it just because of the story, but in this case I'll be the one with the controversial opinion and say that I don't think that highly of the story at all. I don't hold it against Naughty Dog too much, because the whole premise just forces them into some convenient bullshit writing to make things work within the franchise, but it's still convenient bullshit writing. Being able to forgive it and to not believe it reflects on Druckmann's ability as a writer when it comes to Part II is different from actually enjoying it.

Agreed again about Chloe, she looks amazing. What the hell is SUS, though?

I didn't play The Order, but I'm starting to think that the "turning things in front of the camera for no reason" mechanic is cursed.

Gone Home did it too, and it wouldn't surprise me if it was the inspiration for both, but it's not "for no reason" there. The fun isn't spinning shit in front of the camera, is what you can discover by moving objects.

Falling for massive hype trains including reviewers can lead to giving higher scores than they would, i bet if they re-reviewed it now it'll be below 80
Anyways I'm good I'm better off watching this interactive movie in YouTube and not feel like i lost or missed out on anything not playing it myself like with other games.
All this is more suited for The Last of Us. O find it's more acceptable for that and i would buy it since it's good with it. But Uncharted? The once fun Indiana Jones like action game to a boring interactive movie? Nooope.

We'll probably be getting a driving segment in this (because they might as well reuse that tech work) so hopefully we'll get to see why Chloe is the best driver in the buisness.

You're just trolling at this point.

So what you're saying is that we'll be controlling Nadine during that segment? I don't think my playable Chloe would deserve that title.
