glad they're continuing TFA's goat marketing tactic of showing awesome scenes but telling us nothing about the story. can't wait to see where they take these characters

not as good as the force awakens trailer...but expected due to the amount of time between the ep 3 -> 7

happy that it doesn't give away the plot like a lot of recent trailers

Just because it has the word "teaser" in the trailer title, doesn't mean it's actually a teaser. Those werent teasers. This was.

Just like the modern day "beta" in video games.

But keep being dismissive.

Uh...huh...said the guy trying to dismiss the word "teaser trailer".

This teaser trailer basically rehashed the flow of TFA teaser.

Quoting myself from the Celebration thread:

2) Luke's last line. Yes, it's pretty damned epic and invites a lot of questions, but it also lends further credence to concerns that his entire character arc through the original trilogy is about to get tossed out the window. Whether he's right - because he's Luke fucking Skywalker - or wrong - because ultimately this is going to be Rey's arc, and I don't quite expect Star Wars to abandon the idea of a moral good - if the premise of this film requires that the culmination of Luke's story be either for nothing or to have extended an ages old problem feels... Uncomfortable.

Almost feels like
Skywalker is Snoke.

Some hires stills from the trailer released:

The ships have a very local junk like feel to them, probably why that one almost crashes aswell.

So, with recognizable character themes in this trailer returning from TFA, are we on the track to Rey, Kylo, and the Resistance themes being remembered and iconic now?

Wasnt a big complaint about how kylo kept taking his mask off in fa. Now they are doubling down on keeping him unmasked.

When he was unmasked it took away from the badass side he had

Man, Star Wars teasers are becoming very formulaic.

Start with darkness and orchestral music? Check.
Smash cut to a surprise reveal of a lead? Check.
Sweeping landscape on a new planet? Check.
Ship crashing? Check.
Space Battle? Check.
Character saying something out of context to get the internet talking? Check.

Okay, we've got a teaser!

Is Ren's eye gone or is it just a scar. Seems silly to have a fucking lightsaber just leave a little scar vs a giant gash and taking an eye.

I'm hyped but not as hyped when I was the TFA trailer. This one didn't bring me to tears. I really hope it's better than TFA. I hope it's a darker movie.

couldn't disagree more with this. I think exactly the opposite happened.

before taking the mask, he was some generic badie with zero personality like Darth Maul.

he took the mask off and all of a sudden it's "I am a lead character bitches"

Was getting caught part of your plan?
Yes they were.

That Thor teaser is actually probably only footage from the first 1/3rd of the movie.

When I think of teaser, I think this and this.

Hollywood marketing has been misusing that term lately. Even the trailer for TLJ was kind of verging on "this isn't a teaser really."

And let's face it, that Thor trailer was a full blown trailer 1.

I wonder if there is a reason for them to be drifting in the dirt like that, other than to just look cool.

I mean, they're clearly kicking up the red soil/dust/whatever from under the cracked surface. Plowing the dry earth, essentially. The big question is, what the fuck is with the blood red dust under the ground?!

I think it's funny that everyone in tbe crowd acted disappointed over thinking we were just getting a poster and then it turns out the poster was more exciting than the actual trailer.

So yeah, all that shit you thought you knew about how the Force works? That's not how the Force works. We're moving forward now.

Luke's been learning how to burn off all the shit you don't need. All the dogma, all the rules. Expectations. All that shit.

Can't wait.
Please please PLEASE let this be the direction they go in. I hope he doesn't have an arc of realizing the Jedi actually is the path he should be on. Hopefully it really is him expanding his views and that not being labeled as the "wrong" way.
