Games that had awesome bosses through the entire game

Crimzon Clover has some really good boss variety, but stage 4's stands out.

It's a huge rush after you blow off its weapons and it starts calling in new ones via helicopter.

The final boss sucks ass with its unwinnable sequences.

There are parts where you just bounce off off him and get mauled in cutscenes. I'm fairly sure these were scripted.
Oh, I perceived that comment as "attacks you cannot avoid getting hit by" for whatever reason.

There are scripted transitions like that before the fight really starts, yeah, but you can still continue playing untouched until an invisible timer (of a few minutes) expires. Still jarring though.

No mention of any Ys game yet?

...Huh. Well, Ys Origin's the best candidate here. Nearly every boss is well-designed, and the ones with flaws still feel great to fight. You also have a lot of varied mechanics for universal and character-specific fights, and excellent difficulty curve. Each of the three MCs can tackle fights differently, and that's not counting extras like playing against them as Napishtim or Oath Adol. I'd use Oath as an example too, but Guilen and Gyalva are decent and mediocre, not great or even good. And Ys Seven has tons of great fights but a few stinkers too.

Fun detail about that... On the two hardest difficulties, that safety blanket you had of getting knocked down to 0.1% and then progressing? Gone. You just die instead. To proceed you have to avoid his attacks until the game counts it as a win. On Revengeance difficulty that's about 2-3 minutes. And he'll do eight times the damage as he does on Normal.

It's still beatable. Just... kind of difficult.

It's been said over and over but Metal Gear Rising is the best at this.

Each boss is mechanically unique, visually interesting, has incredible music, and pushes you towards demonstrating mastery (or at least competence) with at least one of the games core gameplay mechanics.

There also isn't a stinker among them, every boss is fun.

The Monster Hunter games are basically constant boss fights.
Monster Hunter.

I love MonHun, but there are a ton of stinkers in those games. They're mostly the older monsters that haven't gotten updates (like Rathalos and Rathian got in Tri) but the fact remains that there are a bunch of monsters in 4U and Gen that aren't fun to fight. I'm talking Gypceros, Khezu, Shogun Ceanataur, and the like.

Did God Hand have any bad bosses? Literally can't remember.
No.

Platinum Games / Glover the thread :)

Also: God of War, Soulsborne, Devil May Cry 1+3, Metal Gear Solid, Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden 1 - all around amazing boss fights. Even the weaker bossfights are good or unique. I miss more boss fights in modern games :(

1. Shadow of the Colossus
2. Metal Gear Solid 1, 3 and Rising
3. Bloodborne

Honorable mentions: God of War 3 and Bayonetta 1.

Bloodborne is my default answer for the "what's the best _____" or "what's your favorite _____" questions, because it's usually always accurate, but in this case - FUCK MICOLASH.

For my answer - do Destiny raid bosses count? Oryx, while a bitch, was pretty cool. Same can be said about all the others as well.

Shovel Knight. The bosses are well rounded characters, distinctive from one another, have great sprite work, and are really fun to play. They get even better in the expansions.

Mega Man Zero 1 yo. Topped off by my favorite final boss in a videogame.

Of course the game is all about boss fights so it makes sense. The levels are pretty phoned-in but the bosses are great!

Sin & Punishment: Star Successor has my favorite bosses as a whole in a game, and I don't really remember there being any bad ones.

I also liked all the boss stages in Catherine.

The wonderful 101.

Every boss is like another game's final boss.

I don't remember most of the bosses in the game, but I definitely remember disliking the Vorken fights. I don't think those ones were done very well.
