First Micro Machines World Series gameplay trailer released

We're very happy today to have released the first gameplay trailer for the hotly anticipated return of the classic gaming franchise Micro Machines, ahead of the release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam (PC) on 23rd June. You can watch the miniature mayhem unfold in the first Micro Machines World Series gameplay trailer above, or play it at micromachinesgame.com.

Whether driving a Spy Car destroying a Hovercraft with a Nerf Blaster in the Games Room, or a Dump Truck blowing up a Tank with a Dynamite Launcher in the Garden, Micro Machines World Series will have players of all ages smiling from ear-to-ear while delivering absolute carnage.

Executive Producer, Chris Gray said: ”Micro Machines World Series is a fresh new take on the franchise that is great fun for previous players and those new to Micro Machines. It's a firm fan favourite and we are delighted to be bringing it to the PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Chris continued: ”In addition to the return of the classic Race and Elimination modes, we are extremely excited by the new Battle Arenas. Having 12 players in the same match, all fighting it out with a variety of vehicles and crazy weapons is great fun. Gamers are going to love it."

Players will take on a whole new way of racing in Micro Machines World Series. Not only will players be able to burn rubber across the Kitchen table in familiar 4 player ‘sofa style' local races, but also enter into larger 12 player on-line races. So many players on one screen seriously increases the challenge, and all 12 vehicles jostling for position and hurtling toward each corner makes it even more perilous and exciting.

In addition to the code racing modes are the Battle Modes, which pit up to 12 players into the same arena for frantically competitive multiplayer games including Capture the Flag and Territory as well as 6v6 Team Deathmatch. All of these are set to the interactive backdrop of 15 battle arenas including The Laser Lab, Buzzsaw Battle and negotiating the Hungry Hungry Hippos board without being eaten.

Players can personalise their Battles with 12 new vehicles including the Spy Car, Hovercraft, Monster Truck or G.I. Joe H.I.S.S Tank, each with their own strengths and weapons. Players will set off trying to crush, smash and destroy opponents with numerous new weapons including the Dynamite Launcher, Tidal Wave, Cobra Turret and Nerf Blasters. Every vehicle also has a level of customisation with new skins, completely changing the original look. The inclusion of Emotes, Victory Poses and Grave Stamps also add to the camaraderie and bragging rights at the end of a match.

Adding to the hilarity and fun of Micro Machines, the UK release is narrated by the one and only Brian Blessed. In his own, recognisable and unique style Brian bursts forth announcing the start of races as well as ”Enemy Flag Taken" and ”Micro Machines is Alive!"

Ohh man this is one of the few games that i played to dead on the N64 is sad to see that it wont come to switch. It seems a perfect fit, but who knows maybe in the future.

Fuck yes!

I can't wait to play elimination with buddies. I hope it's top down one screen. I don't remember the N64 versions having split screen.

Only the UK version is narrated by Brian Blessed?

I'm liking the look of it. Does this mean it's like Micro Maniacs in terms of weapons, so they're specific to a character/car? That was one of my main worries.

Cool to hear it is actually Brian in the trailer. Game looks great but it's a no buy unless the multiplayer community has some staying power. Toybox Turbos fell off so quickly. I'd really expect a Rocket League style commitment from Codemasters on this game and I just can't see it happening.
When devs discover bokeh but have no eye for it. Wth is this blurry mess.
Presumably you'll be able to turn this off on PC. Shame there's no Switch version. Would make an awful lot of sense.

Oh man, I'm up for some of this.

Added Brian Blessed is always a good thing too. Happy to see him getting some love in this thread.

Give me a Switch version and I'd be all over it. Micromachines is all about local play and the Switch is the most ideal system. I'm kind of hoping that it wasn't announced for the console yet because development was already well in, but seeing as people are saying ports of such games are cake on the Switch, I'm hoping for an announcement. Me and my kids would love this, played Micromachines to death on the Megadrive back in the day.

I actually like all the Hasbro tie ins, it makes a lot of sense for the feel of things.

I'd rather have more racing than exploding, but hopefully there will be custom races to set up and the like. Looks like a lot of fun, I played the NES game a ton many moons ago.

Looks surprisingly better than I expected, would love another great MM game, it's been far too long. MM 1 & 2 on the Megadrive and MM V3 on PS1 were awesome games

Can't wait for this!

Myself, my brother and my cousin still get together every few weeks and hook up the N64 to play some Micro Machines 64. Still plenty of laughs and fun to be had with it.

Really can't wait to play this with them.

Looks great! Being small in room scale still holds a special place in my heart.

I hope the actual racing is tight. Oh and snappy menus.

Too bad they're not doing anything crazy with the amount of local controllers, they could pull of some split-controller stuff or take advantage of Xbox/Nintendo's 8 controllers.

I'm surprised at that take on it, I would say PS4 Pro should be the ultimate console version of it if the additional power means a higher resolution and faster framerate for split screen.

The trailer looks really great. And Blessed!!

ghst

thanks for the laugh
hope they're not fixated on weapons like the trailer suggests. it was never a battle racer and cause of death was very rarely a weapon. they were an occasional novelty more than anything.

micro machines 2 (the best one) didn't have weapons at all.

Ha, that final line by Blessed in the trailer :'D

Looks great, so happy to see this series finally return. 2 and '96 are two of my favourite local multiplayer games to this day.

It seems like there are lots of modes so hopefully there's a pure race mode. I'd also like that. Not everything has to be like a cart racer with weapons and pickups.

Yep - even if you can simply turn them off, if the game is balanced around it that's a problem. If they did, that probably means the speed is lower. The old ones were fast, and deaths were usually due to a screwup at high speeds. Toybox Turboes on the other hand was not, and largely weapon based.

Wow. Someone else remembers Rock N Roll Racing!!!

How can you not...Bad to the Bone intro screen, Black Sabbath's Paranoid blasting at the start line, hit the lead and the announcer, Larry in his deep voice, screams out "Jams into First". The missile pickups to nab 1st place off your buddy after school when he thought it he was home safe for the win.

This game was a cornerstone of many laughs, punches, arguments, bragging rights and was a treat to play. Seems someone tried a remake called Motor Rock:

Micro Machines had more polish and better controls IMO but the atmosphere of Rock N Roll was waaay better.

Some aspects of that look a lot like BlazeRush. It says Codemasters but I wonder if they made a deal with Targem Games. From the look of the vehicles to the weapons like the rocket. I've just recently been playing BlazeRush again and this is strikingly familiar. Absolutely down for more of it.

Another one to check into. Nice to see the isometric style stay even with proper 3D, models and cameras.

This looks really great! I very much hope there is a direct control scheme, as in up is up on the current view orientation, not clockwise / counterclockwise rotation. Because I know some people I might play this game with who have trouble with the traditional controls.

Toybox Racers a few years ago was a great "fake" one of these, but I am beyond hyped for a brand new one.

I remember playing the NES one for hours upon hours :)

Also, fuck you weird goop dots on all the levels that would almost stop you immediately.
