Help guys I'm trying to 100% and I bought all the shadow outfits from the merchants but it says I only have 8 outfits even though I have 9? Am I missing something? Is there a secret outfit or is this a bug or what? I really hope I didn't break it. :/

I'll just ask again, any impressions of the 3D audio? How immersive does it make the game?
So I got to try them out last night, as well as in Uncharted 4.

The crazy thing is, that I had my buddy Sam close his eyes while I shot tearblast arrows or sling-shot blast bombs and had him point to where he thought the sound was coming from. He got it right. Every single time. No matter if it was diagonal or directly above or whatever.

Same thing happened in Uncharted 4. I also had customized the first preset with a little more bass and such using the app, as you lose a little bit of "power" when going from stereo to 3D. Wow, though. The level of detail present was far greater than I was expecting.

You could literally hear fire crackling off a ways over at the campfire, while the sound of a watcher's footsteps on the floor above you moved along, and the ground shook below you from the tallneck's steps that you could hear booming in the distance. It's definitely closing in on the amount of audio you get in theaters with ATMOS sound.

There's one you can only buy when you're pretty far into the story.

Why are we allowed to buy more than one treasure map if they're the same thing every time -_-

Like the dingus I am, I didn't see that I had already owned the maps. I thought they would be regional.

Is the Sony Platinum headset the only one that can do this?

During a certain late game quest one of the npcs mentions rockbreakers won't notice you if you're quiet. Does anyone know exactly what he's talking about? I tried crouching around one but it still noticed me.

I believe you would need the Nora stealth outfit loaded with high stealth mods. You're basically invisible even when moving while crouched.

Dang I played this thru platinum trophy and never did try the 3D sound.

I'm in the same boat, technically. Although I've held off getting the Platinum headset because I got burned with the Elites (the cracked hinges) and the new design I have not heard about durability wise yet. Still, I managed to play the game with my little sound system and nice Sony MDR headphones, so it wasn't all bad :D

When does the story start to pick up ? I finished th first cauldron and was expecting to plot line details.

The cauldrons are technically side content and don't push forward the main story. If you want more story, do some of the main quests for a while.

Yeah, I can see why people may feel compelled to compare Horizon to Witcher 3, but when it comes to story and characters I don't think there's any comparison. The Hearts of Stone expansion on its own features a stronger narrative than most other games.

My girlfriend who isn't a gamer but appreciates them nonetheless says that all the characters in Horizon have "dead eyes," and I tend to agree. I booted up Last of Us after and she was instantly engaged because the characters are expressive and believable. Two different games, obviously, but the facial animations and wooden dialogue aren't doing a narrative-heavy game like Horizon any favors. This isn't to imply that the overarching plot is bad (it's actually quite interesting), but the execution isn't quite there for me.

You should watch extra credits youtube video about mass effect Andromeda facial animation. It's talks about the dead eyes thing. Horizon definitely uses a system similar to ME and TLoU definitely uses one similar to uncharted. It makes sense why one game has such better animation than the other.

https://youtu.be/0qvvmVpS3AA

Not what I expected, but the main thing I felt was recorded in my 50 hour playthrough of Horizon was a bunch of awful character animations, particularly facial animations during dialogue. I found it super weird that Mass Effect has complete threads on this subject alone, but Horizon got a some kind of free pass.

Overall I thought the game was okay, but the first 6 hours were really bad, and it never got around to being 'good' at anything.

I will say though, props to Sony for letting Guerilla try something new.

You should watch that video I posted a couple posts up. I haven't played ME A but from watching that, I see a huge difference between it and Horizon. Some characters in ME A glitch through each other in dialog scenes.

I think people is kinda biased when they talk about "facial animation" (including me) but it shows most when they talk about "atrocious" animations or vast differences between one game and another:

Check The Master Armor Quest NPCs in The Witcher III

Check Cauldron Quest Giver in Horizon Zero Dawn

Now well, here's Addison from Mass Effect Andromeda

I provided some minor characters from both, The Witcher III and Horizon, and an important character from Mass Effect Andromeda (pre-patch).

I've see no "atrocious" "enormous" difference between the first and the second example. I see quite a difference on Mass Effect example.

I don't see how Witcher 3 is it's own league. It does things better than Horizon but on the other side Horizon does things better than The Witcher 3. It all comes down to personal taste and preferences.

I was talking purely from a writing standpoint. It's all subjective. I love Horizon, it may be my favorite PS exclusive ever, its combat is amazing and the story is dope, but I don't think it's writing is anywhere near the same universe as Witcher 3's was. The world-building in Horizon is cool and to be commended, but nowhere near what CDPR achieved. I couldn't even begin to understand the argument otherwise, and I am absolutely in love with Horizon.

Its totally cool if you don't like the game or aspects of it. Maybe it's just not for you. If you feel like it's a chore to play, don't play it. But realize you are in the minority.

Oh I realize I'm in the minority. I'm sure that if I'd played this game BEFORE I played Breath of the Wild, I'd feel completely different.

Traded the game in today. Couldn't find the drive to finish the last two story missions. I know there's more twists and turns to come, but I was done. The open world checklist action genre has worn me out, even though I can recognize this is certainly one of the better ones. Beautiful game and a good first step out of the FPS genre for Guerrilla. I'm excited to see what they do next.

Yes, my addiction to Gwent aside, the writing in the Witcher 3 is maybe the best of any RPG I've ever played. Particularly the DLCs.

Character/facial animations are sooooo much better than ME:A's.

I honestly don't know how you could think the first six hours were "really bad." Like, even if the game is not for you, even if it uses a lot of mechanics from other games, it's really polished and it uses the mechanics well. So I couldn't see how it could possibly be worse than "not for me," or maybe, "boring."

I don't feel like I can put words into how much I love this game, so, I'll just say it's the first game I've finished in a long time, and the first console game I've played in over a decade. On to platinum

The Witcher 3's main questline was pretty piss poor in my opinion and was basically the princess is in another castle for half the game. The side stuff was often better but aside from the Bloody Baron stuff I was enamored much with the way they did the main quest stuff in the Witcher 3. I think they especially dropped the ball with almost everything about the Wild Hunt in terms of the big bad especially after I was so excited to take them on after the first two games. Not too mention stuff like Radovid and his fate felt especially poorly handled.

The DLC's were wonderful and I think they should focus more on those sort of smaller scale epic stories than the end of the world stuff. Though I think that's a goal of their's with Cyberpunk which has me even more excited for it.

Impressive thanks for this planning on buying this soon or whenever it's on a sale or something

aloy is just getting started. amazing character. many more games with her please

Ending spoilers so don't click if you haven't completed the game

She learned who her mother was, she learned why Rost was an outcast, she learned why she was given to Rost. Every question Aloy ever had growing up was answered
and that final cutscene was incredible. It's OK to let go of a character, especially when they were given such a perfect ending.

That said, a little cameo would be amazing.

Yeah, no. Aloy's story isn't over, and the suggestion that GG should drop her doesn't make a lick of sense.

I personally felt the ending provided complete closure to Aloy, what she wanted, and her motivations for the story. I'd much rather play the sequel starring a brand new character or even possibly playing as Psylence.

I don't think Sylens
would be the villain in the next game.Yeah the post-credits scene was ominous, but I thought Sylens was going to exact vengeance on HADES, and squeeze any usefulness out of it in the process. He's not going to wake up some more ancient machines after everything that has happened.

Watch it again and see what he's walking towards. It's not over.

Aloy is too great of a character for just one game.
With the scene after the end credit, I think Sylens will extract as much information from HADES as possible and will find out that there's another form of HADES (this whole story takes place in the US, there could be another one created by another country) or some kind of weapon that can bring destruction to the world. He will contact Aloy and seek her assistance to save the world again.

Nope I played BOTW before this and I prefer this. The combat is superior, the graphics are far superior, voice acting is always a plus and the structure is superior to me.

The game is only a checklist if you treat it that way. I completed it with a ton of side stuff not done and I was happy. I'll come back and finish the side stuff sometime, maybe when DLC hits. This in no way is like Asscreed or other checklist style games. It's easily completable with the majority of the side stuff undone.

I assume that colony ship that they thought blew up didn't actually blow up, but was just commandeered by another Hades. That's where that unexplained signal came from.

That's what I'm saying, whichever I played first I think I was bound to enjoy more just because of genre fatigue.

I didn't quite get into the Asscreed mode either, where you're bombarded by icons every second of the way. It was mostly the frequency of enemies I found displeasing, mostly distracting from the world around which is by far the most interesting part.

What is left for Aloy to do that couldn't be accomplished just as easily by another character?

Unless we retread the whole
only Aloy can unlock these doors because she's a clone
thing?

We don't need another origin story. Now that Aloy knows her past, she can focus on other stuff. She has a lot of room to grow as a character.

Ending spoilers ahead...

There are some loose ends,
Sylens in particular, which are closely tied to Aloy. She might feel responsible to correct the matter, when she learns about it. After all, who else would have the means to do it?

There's no point in abandoning a succesful new lead character, that appealed to a wide demographic, after all the effort it took to create one.

Exactly. To grow into the next villain. The next game should go full Space Station: Silicon Valley and you play as an AI that hops between robo-animals trying to survive as Aloy goes and kills everything around you.

Seriously, what the hell? Lmao y'all just wanna dump Aloy because she learned about her past? By that logic, we'd be out of a lot of really great characters. There is a ton of shit left for her to do. I doubt she's gonna stop trying to find out about the past, and her lineage is probably bound to be used in an interesting way again. She's gonna have quite the following after what transpires in this game, and she's going to be determined to see as much of the world as she possibly can. Not to mention, she's probably got even more motivation to protect it. Giving her purpose is kinda the job of GG's writers.

GG isn't going to drop Aloy. They're trying to make her an icon. Hell, she's already well on her way. You don't hit lightning with someone like her after years of putting this game together and then abandon her story. Y'all are gonna be disappointed.

Why on earth woudl they drop their leading lady now?

Ending spoilers:

Yes, hades is, for the moment stopped, but she wasn't just given that task. She was given the task of fixing Gaia and bringing the system back under control. She, frankly, still has a mountain of work to do there. All she has done here is buy the world some time, the system is still out of control, and we don't know who was responsible for the viral attack.

Yup. On a scale of dialog (non-story-cutscene) animation including face and body, I would put them as such:

ME:A--------------------H:ZD--------W3

When you go further in you can take over robots and use them as mounts. Usually you can run right by enemies. You also have a stealth skill that lowers the noise you make so you can run past them too. Also you unlock a double and triple bow shot that can one shot lower enemies after a while.

What is left for Aloy to do that couldn't be accomplished just as easily by another character?

The point is Aloy is a successful main character with established depth and character in the horizon universe. That's not an easy thing to do. She's like the female version of Shepherd from Mass Effect. Why would GG ever want to throw that away? Aloy might be the best, most believable female badass character I've ever played in gaming. You don't just let that go and start over for the sake of whatever it is you think they should move on for.

if every ip dropped the main character because "what is left for them to do that couldn't be accomplished by another character?" every game would likely have a new main character. guerrilla have only just started to build Aloy, a character that has resonated with countless fans, dropping her would be a terrible decision

Agree

I for one wouldn't buy HZD 2 if Aloy is not the main character, Having now played HZD for more then 270 hours aloy is officially one of my top three favorite female characters ever up there with lara and
lightning
