Also, how good is Haru as a party member? Who are people's bread and butter?

No idea about Haru yet. I didn't even use her in the dungeon after I got her. My party seems stuck at Ryuji, Ann, and Mokoto. Before Mokoto I used Morgana a lot, but after getting Mokoto I found I didn't really need the multi-heal as much. I could always change MC to something for that. I preferred Mokoto's speed and power over Morgana. She's also got a multi-heal now, so we're pretty good.

I wonder if the hostage thing is undertuned or something. I've, uh, had enough occasions where weaknesses get hit that I'd assume I would have triggered it by now.
Treasure Demons do what exactly for Fusions?

I think there's some combos you need them specifically for, but also they have a full loadout of powerful, rare skills. e.g. (one from an early Palace)
has every dodge skill in the game, so you can cover whatever weakness the resulting fusion has.
Defeating them is also as lucrative as ever, with massive XP and money drops.

Once caught, they are added to the compendium like normal Personas, so it's worth being extra careful capturing them the first time around. (They are incredibly resilient, with few if any weaknesses.) Morgana is a real asset against them IMO.

I think you have to be surrounded for it to happen.

I've only seen it happen 2 or 3 times in practically two whole playthroughs.

Yeah, I'm not sure. In my NG+ it happened when Ryuji was enraged and got hit with a technical that stunned him so maybe something special like that, I don't recall what happened the first time. I wasn't ambushed though.

It's also (one of?) the only ways the 'online' stuff comes into play since you can have another Thieve's Guild person come in to save them.

Treasure Demons do what exactly for Fusions?

Few things.

1) The obvious one, they come with full sets of similar type of skills for easy fusion.

2) When using them to fuse, rather than following the fusion table, they usually raise the persona to the next one in the arcana tree. Very useful to find missing persona in your collection.

3) Sacrificing them to gallow provides more exp (3x times) more than typical persona at around the same level.

Nah. The two times it happened to me, it was a normal fight and the shadow just hit the character's weakness. I offered that thing some money, offered it an item, and it still offed the character.

This is killing me lol. I'm just trying to get surrounded and let the enemies to hit Yusuke's weakness. I'm wondering if it has to be the first turn.

Ah right.

I actually don't remember the times I had it happen. They both occured first playthrough. I remember one happened in dungeon 4 I think.

Igor pls.

End Game question about the series:
So who/what is Igor? Is he a god of some sort that places hope in humanity? I was recommended the Persona 3 movie for what I believe is the final boss and it was against the god of death, Nyx. In Persona 5 we fight against the god of control. Is there some overarching theme with Gods watching over humanity?

Have you finished the game? If not then finish it first and you will have your answer. Also watch all the P3 movies for the whole story please.

Holy shit, the end of the 4th dungeon,
The Futaba Sakura one
made me want to scream. It was when you secure the route to the treasure. The robotic guards with the red searching eyes are a bitch to get around and when you defeat one, another pops up in the exact same spot. I tried to do that last area 8 times, dying each time, before I finally said fuck it and just ran for the boss room. The reason I did it so many times was I was trying to get the stupid treasure chest, can anyone tell me what was in it?

Fuck it I can't get this damn hostage situation to occur. I'm just going to start out a 3rd playthrough on Hard and see if I can force it there.

Last boss dead. So I guess I have like 36 hours to go still or something judging from the rest of the game so far ;_;

That is Megaten, yes.

For the rest:
The identity of Igor is expanded upon in Persona 1 and Persona 2. Basically, he's an entity created by Philemon, I guess originally meant to help his side through active intervention in his games against Nyarlathotep.

It's a bit less, depending on what you consider the last boss of course ^^

I've read of someone completing the whole game within 78 hours, so that's that...

Igor? Nah, he is no God, however he has great influence in the series and is rooting for the MC all the time, having high hopes for him -and humanity. He also always represents the Fool Persona, like the MC too.

Igor does a way better job at introducing himself in Persona 4 without all this ruin and rehabilitation nonesense though:

I wonder why that is ^^

Interesting.
I wonder if their struggle will result in some grand game where it's settled.

Not quite. Play the Persona 2 duology if you want to know why.

(Persona 5 End Game Spoilers):
Yaldabaoth as an antagonist shares VERY many similarities with Nyarlathotep; leading people like me to think it might actually have been him before the full reveal.

Yeah, the whole story about (HUGE P5 endgame spoilers)
Yaldabaoth playing a game with Akechi and Joker to decide the fate of humanity - and then rigging the game - immediately reminded me of Philemon and Nyarlathotep's game in P2.

To be fair, isn't like the game have a lot of references or callbacks to P2 or something like that :p

So yeah I'm pretty loving this game ;_;

And done. Last save was 111:34, max stats and nax confidants. Probably my GOTY over Zelda now, and probably my favorite jrpg ever.

Off to the spoiler thread.

I know that a lot of people prefer Ann over Morgana. I like Morgana's wide set of healing skills though, as I use Morgana as a dedicated healer.

Btw I came across a tried and tested method of making sure that you absolutely get the missing treasure demon instead of fighting the same one over and over again for hours. This is only relevant to the 7th palace (and mementos area corresponding to it) as it's the only one with more than 1 treasure demon.

This is what you do:
1) Teleport to the last floor of Sheriruth (floor 14) then go one floor up.

2) Use a treasure trap

3) Search the floor for a gem, if you don't find one go down a floor and then come back up immediately and repeat until you find one.

4) Engage the gem, if it's the one you want then good. If not then escape the battle.

5) Once outside the gen will vanish but you can make it respawn if you start a fight with any other random enemy and escape that battle immediately.

Keep repeating this until you find the treasure demon of your choice. I only needed Hope Diamond. I did this and got it within 10 mins, one of the times I even got the crystal demon but I already had it so I escaped.

Did not know about number 2. That's going to save me so much time and avoid all the document-fu necessary to create all personas.

Hit 11/23 last night. SPOILERS UP TO THAT POINT AHEAD:

Had the traitor spoiled for me unfortunately. Though I was already pretty suspect considering they were rarely shown in advertising, and the hints leading up to that point were pretty obvious. The pancake thing sat too long if they expected the player to forget about it before that point. That being said, the sequence of events and the huge exposition and info dump after the main character "dies" is really rewarding and the game really starts to tie itself together and start to show it's true colors and message. Really excited to finish it.
Game has just delivered endlessly, easily the best in the series and probably my new favorite game of all time. Sorry P4G.

Also THAT
6TH
PALACE THO.

I need to read/watch story for Persona 2.

I wish it were in a more accessible form. I don't particularly want to dedicate a fair amount of time on a game I hear has aged terribly. Nor do I want to sit through unvoiced dialogue watching someone else play it. My knowledge was learned from reading the wiki, which isn't ideal.

The thing about the (11/20)
traitor is that the twist isn't who the traitor is - the game expects you figured that part out by now - it's that the protags were prepared for him to betray them from the start.

Persona 5 near Palace 7 end spoilers

Rolling my eyes so hard at these final Akechi moments. Dude, this guy like killed two of your party member's parents and was a psychotic terrorist. This isn't the character type that deserves this weird pained reaction from the party like he's making some noble self sacrifice. Just a lame way to handle this character's end.

Yep this portion was disappointing. I felt the game tried forcing some narrative towards us at this point but it never really worked for me. Even during the fight he didn't come across as sympathetic, infact he mentions he was the one who approached Shido to assassinate people. It's just weird considering how the game treats the other baddies too.

Well theres barely any overlap between Ann and Morgana outside of very very early game, can't see why anyone would think about preferring one of the other. Morgana is full heal with some damage while Ann deals about as much damage Ryuji but in AoE fashion.

Morgana and Makoto though, that's a different story. Makoto makes Morgana more or less redundant later in the game. Plus the MC can always be the backup whateverisneeded.

Makoto ended up being on heal duty in the later half for me. She was party healing each turn and has the party wide defense+ which was nice.

Just want to clarify... Palace 5 is
the spaceship, right?

How many hours do I have left without spoiling anything please...

Also, how good is Haru as a party member? Who are people's bread and butter?

She's pretty solid once you get her. Maxing out proficiency is a requirement if you want to use her at her best, since it's the only way to progress her Confidant past rank 1 (and pick up other combat abilities like Baton Pass, etc). Once you reach endgame, and she picks up skills like One-Shot Kill and Cripple, her offense becomes incredibly good.
