PlatinumGames uploads videos of Bayonetta for development retrospective page

Platinum seems to be increasingly adapt at scaling down production to fit the budgetary requirements imposed by the publisher.

Nier was shipped with a limited amount of development time, they did numerous budget licenced games for Activision, and Bayo and Nier 3 could likely be turned around relatively quickly using existing assets.

If using existing assets i wouldn't see bayo 3 going anywhere but switch

wasn't metal gear rising made in like 11 months

It's happening, isn't it?

Bayo 1 didn't sell well. Bayo 2 bombed.

Bayonetta 2 bombed because it was a Platinum Game on the Wii U. See TW101 for further evidence. I still think the franchise has room for growth, especially with the recent success of Bayo1 on PC. A current generation release on PC/PS4/XB1 may do worthwhile numbers for Platinum. Maybe.

I think you're setting yourself up for disappointment if you think Bayonetta 3 won't be exclusive again.

Considering she's in Smash I wouldn't really put it past Nintendo to fund another sequel. Do we know if Bayonetta 2 was profitable? It obviously didn't sell great but it still could have been a profitable deal.

Bayo1 did sell well.

Bayo2 was on a Nintendo platform and sold as expected (i.e. not much).

Bayo3 has potential if it's on PS4/X1/PC. Most of the fanbase from the first game will be here.

Bayonetta 1 sadly sold mediocrely to the point the franchise was canned until Nintendo decided to fun a sequel.

It seems that the overreaction hysteria to a possible Bayo3 is also changing history!

Platinum are productive as FUCK!

Y'all are sleeping on them. They could pump out Bayo 3 like its nothing.

No one on neogaf is sleeping on platinum
Wait is this real?

It was def real but never formally announced as MGR2, it was just shown somewhere. and then I think Platinum's excuse for it was "it was the 2 year anniversary" or something.

Konami is Konami, do not get hopes up

Bayo 1 was sold at bomba bin prices, wouldnt be surprised if 2 was actually a more profitable venture

I don't think it's decided how much of Bayo 2 Nintendo holds rights to, but they could easily use assets from Bayo 1 is that was the case.

I'm doubtful Nintendo would be involved with Bayonetta 3, but it's possible. The Bayo 1 port to PC shows Sega is clearly ready to invest in the series again

If that's the case, I'm surprised Konami didn't greenlight a MGR2. Relatively low risk.

why?
bayo 2 was not a success ,so it's not automtic that nintendo would want a sequel, and if it's not them, sega it's a third party publisher

Bayonetta 2 bombed because it's a niche game for a hardcore audience. It already bombed on PS360, and it won't suddenly be better on PS4/One unless they do some changes within the formula. And I don't think Bayonetta 2 sales pumped in any hopes for SEGA to fund a sequel, after cancelling B2's development.

My take is that if it exists it won't be from SEGA. They have no interest in losing money.

Bayo 2 was incredibly hard to find.

I manage to get the last copy with Bayo 1 at my target. Think they reprinted it with Smash DLC. So I can't tell if Nintendo were happy with sales.

In any case I'm sure they were happy having a critically acclaimed game at least.

It sold over a million, not bad for a new IP from a then mostly unknown developer.

It definitely has potential to grow if it is released on the proper platforms.

Don't think anyone is. They release and revealed at least one game every year since 2013. I expect a reveal to happen again this year even if it doesn't happen at e3.

It sold 100k on pc what exactly is the point of a current gen port. Your not making sense.

Yes and Sega still canned the sequel. That's my point. The question would be if Sega suddenly decided to change their mind but Nintendo owns the rights to two so creating a sequel to 2 will be difficult since very few people actually bought the game.

Platinum can get to work! Scalebound was a big misstep, but they pump out games like a mofo.

Bayonetta 3, just one of these publishers can get it. Hell, Sega might.

Y'all are crazy if you think that Nintendo isn't thirsting after that Bayo3 exclusivity. Exclusives drive hardware sales.

Well that was short lived. I'm not getting hype til I see a green Bayonetta 3 logo that's real.

Edit: actually not even. Until I'm playing it.

It seems so obvious for them to make Rising 2. Other than ports or remakes of the mainline games, it's one of the few solid ways they can keep making Metal Gear without completely pissing off the super fans. And with Platinum, it's surely going to be a pretty good production. Although Scalebound did happen so I don't know.

You're right, compared to other Japanese developers, we don't have to wait a billion years for a Platinum release.

Please no.

Bayo 1 didn't sell well. Bayo 2 bombed.

bayo 1 did 1.2 mln if i remember..plus the 100k sold on steam in the last weeks

not a success,not a "didn't sell well" either

to put it in perspective, bayo 1 didn't went too far from dmc4's numbers..and that was an established franchise on 2 consoles...bayo 1 was also on 2 consoles but one was an horrible port.

Bayo 2 definitely sold like garbage but I could totally see them giving it another try after Smash Bros

Will pick it up whatever it ends up on (well....unless it's on like Neo Geo or something as that's a pretty big investment)

Seriously though I'm surprised this is being funded at all, I don't think Bayo2 was that great in terms of sales. Not that I'm complaining.

What

DMC4 basically doubled Bayo 1s numbers in it's launch year. That game sold like 4 times the amount of copies that Bayo 1 did.

I'm ready for PC only betrayalton.
This can only be good news but we'll have to wait a few years before it release, just like Bayo 2 teaser.
