I was thinking about playing this game but I already play LoL every now and then and I didn't wanna spread myself too thin by playing two mobas.
And if you own SC2 Legacy of the Void, you have Artanis, if you have the WarCraft movie check it for a code for Guldan, and most recent retail Blizzard releases have come with Jaina I believe. Also if you are a Hearthstone player, you probably have the Hearthstone card mount unlocked, and if you're a Diablo 3 player you might have Malthael's charger unlocked. You can still get a mecha-Spider mount from doing a thing on Facebook here. Don't worry, it doesn't spam your friends. And I think you can still get Raynor and Sylvanas for free with the recruit a friend promo, but it requires a little bit of grinding so I wouldn't recommend it at least until Heroes 2.0 so you can play fresh with your new hero mega pack and whatever extra heroes you have waiting for you.
Also I got Valla and Diablo from owning Diablo 3, but I don't think they run those promos anymore. And I think there was a freebie for playing WoW, but I don't remember since I don't play it.

Any youtube channels to subscribe to for a complete noob? I don't want just tutorials (though that would help), but also some lets plays that are clearly communicating what's going on. It's a specific ask, i know. But even if anyone knows of just some beginner friendly lets play channels, that'd be great.
I tried browsing HOTS on Twitch, but had no idea what i was watching

The standard recommendation is MFPallytime: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaIG92A013x_Cuv-yQOO7Hw
I would especially recommend his Heroes A-Z playlists, in which over the course of the playlist he goes through every hero alphabetically and explains their mechanics while playing them. Keep in mind some heroes have changed, and talents will likely be different, but the core way to play the hero will be relatively unchanged.
FightinCowboy
has a great how-to section for hots. he has a starting guide for beginners as well as individual synopsis/breakdowns/builds for heroes. he plays a bunch of other games as well
Pick Flex. It gives you a variety as well as a bunch of the gimmick heroes. How does this game run on HD integrated graphics. I'm getting a mini pc next week as a stand in until I can spend some real money.
Im also not sure which package to go with since I dont know how any of the characters play. The only one I ever played with was the assassin chick who shoots arrows.
In about 7 hours. So when is it up?
This is the easiest Moba to get into so you'll be alrightBlizzard finally got me to check out Heroes of the Storm, I guess. They've tempted me before with the Overwatch promotions, but I never actually dipped my toes in. But might as well try it out with the free heroes, right? Never played a MOBA before, time to see if I enjoy em.
How do I claim this?
The in-game UI is not intuitive at all.
Well dang. I opened up the loot boxes before picking the pack.Get your bundle before opening loot boxes. I neglected to do so and missed out on shards I would have gotten otherwise.
There's a calculator for that! http://gibraltargamers.com/hots-calculator/Fuck, I need to make a spreadsheet to figure out which pack is the best value for me, haha.

No, you have to manually alt-tab unfortunately.Does it show you which characters you own if you view this in game? It doesn't show it on the website

In-game, yes, it does. There will be a checkmark next to the heroes you already own.
go into the in-game store and choose one of the four bundles there. How do I claim this?

It seems like you have to go to the store and sort by owned though, because in the profile menu and the pick a character menu, dont seem to differentiate between owned and weekly free ones very well.
The bundle itself shows you clearly which ones you own in game.
Er..is it that bad? idk. I didn't think it was. you just go to the store and the first thing right in your face are the 4 bundles. click on one and click the little buy button.

What's the best bundle with the most meta units? Also which is the best for a noobie?
So I secured the flex bundle a couple weeks ago and have been playing with a couple of friends against the AI the past two weeks. We've gotten pretty consistent at beating the AI on Adept. I enjoy using Jaina (I've learned to not die and overextend) and ETC (just really easy to pick up and control crowds).
How's the online community? Are we likely to get torched right out of the gate, or should we just jump in? We understand the basic concepts (staying in lanes to soak XP, hitting objectives together, not chasing/feeding the enemy kills). It's my first MOBA and the other two dabbled with Smite and League.
Just jump in. It should be fine. Just stick to QM till you get a better hero pool since the draft modes mandate having a large one.So I secured the flex bundle a couple weeks ago and have been playing with a couple of friends against the AI the past two weeks.
