Bon Clay is wearing a cloak and is dressed as a swan, and wears drag make up. I'm sorry but Franky is nothing compared to Bon-chan here.

Bon Clay has a silhouette too. Is he joining?! What about Wiper? At that time, no one predicted Franky would join. That's my point! Although I want Pudding to join, I'm fully expecting Oda to make everyone's brains to explode regarding who the next Strawhat is. (Which is why I also think i'tll be Pudding)

That's the most humorous part, the fact that Oda could damn well take his time and spring on us something we didn't expect. Right now we're in the thick of it with Big Mom and such, so we're distracted from potentially getting that surprise backstory or whatever. Once that's all said and done, it could be a possibility. It's all about the waiting game, instead of instant gratification with "Oh, we should've seen something by now"

It's whatever though, I'll like whoever will (presumably) come after Jinbe
assuming he doesn't die

Luffy-Strawhat, scar, perpetual grin, dynamic looking stretch powers, shirt/vest/sandals combo
Zoro-Bandana, three sword style, buzz cut, scar (after timeskip)
Nami- only girl at the time, tattoo (bikini/pants combo after timeskip)
Usopp- long nose, big lips, armadillo hat, slingshot style
Sanji- covered eye, curly eyebrow, perpetual smoker, full suit and tie, kicking fight syle
Chopper- talking reindeer, broken horn, blue nose, multiple designs, X hat
Robin- unique nose, unique eyes, haircut (Less so over timeskip) Storywise at least she was pretty clearly important right out the gate.
Franky- robot nose, triple chin, ace ventura hair, hawaiian shirt, speedo, popeye arms, star tattoos.. and even crazier after timeskip.
Brook- Skeleton, crack in skull, afro, fancy torn suit, unusually tall, sword cane. Boa and crown after timeskip.
Jinbe- Fishman, lightning scar, unusual body type, tusks, stripes in hair, sun tattoo

Straw Hats have a lot put into there designs.

The fact Jinbei doesn't have his own backstory but has decided to join the Strawhat's is making me think he might die after all. :(

But yeah, we have a lot of candidates. It could even be somemone from Wano. Momosuke has a pretty good reason to join as the shogun of Wano and doing his job to protect the Poneglyphs. Caesar seems to be getting some extra character detail and I almost predict a backstory coming from him. Then there's Carrot, Pudding (who has had a hint of a backstory), Pedro, and Jinbei. All these characters are there to throw off the scent and I LOVE IT.

"Who are the last two Strawhats?!" is easily the best short term mystery going around in the series.

Yes because she unique to the universe, she really the only person in the series with that and hides it.

Baby 5 I expected some sort of explanation for her character personality.

Plus she actually important unlike B5.

I'm just happy there are candidates I'm not basically forcing myself to like and assume one would be joining. (Looking at you Dressrosa Arc)

I think the backstory laid out in Fishman Island was more than enough for Jinbe. It's hard to think of anything in his life being more significant to him than what we learned then.

Once Barto was revealed to be a fanboy for the crew by hopes of him joining died.

The only person I was serious about job ning was Kinemon but he got horribly overshadowed in Dressrosa and got his dreams to tied up in Wano now.

Kinemon was unique at first.

Distinct design, unique sword abilities, reverse pervert personaility.

His DF is completely useless in 99% of the time and when other people got the Japanese look it was over.

Design isn't always a big indicator of a person joining because Oda tends to do unique designs for villains, but there other factors like importance and mysteries to consider (Robin had this).

Bon Clay was a candidate early back when, but Franky joining destroyed any of his chances.

Damn Oda can make great returning villain characters story's.

Buggy and Mr.3 story's in the prison and war were great.

Trouble is he was never the center of his own backstory. It was about the people around him, about Fisher Tiger, Arlong, or his other Sun Pirates subordinates.

Eh, Rebecca and Viola. Rebecca with the prerequisite of her turning out to be formidable once she actually desired to hurt someone
also figured she'd change her outfit, but yea... not what I was expecting
, but Kyros ruined everything. Obviously it was for the best, but at the time with the flashbacks and such, I thought she had a chance. It was my first arc where I participated in the whole "Guess who's joining", and everyone else (Barto, Cavendish) was tied to a crew already, or had obvious obligations (Viola, Kyros) to Dressrosa.

Rebecca was the only practical choice, and Bellamy is both awful and basically a discount version of Luffy, so I chose her. Viola was neat, but lord I struggled to see her usefulness strength-wise, and her DF ability is arguably too broken/not fun for the likes of Luffy's crew.

I think this is why Oda does so many flashbacks now. It's totally to throw us off and guess who the next Strawhat is. There's the thing with his editor making him give some characters (Senor Pink) more details too. Back in the old days, if you had a flashback, you were joining. I like that Oda's playing with that expectation now.

Aside from Paulie, the only person I ever had a really strong feeling that they were joining and then they turned out not to was Shirahoshi.

I did think Rebecca had a chance early on (before her story completely spiraled out of control and Kyros took more of the focus) and briefly considered Marguerite as a possibility at the start of Amazon Lily, but that's all.

Honestly, I never even considered Kinemon a possibility (and if we get another swordsman, I'll scream).

Shiraroshi? She's huge though, that alone disqualified her for me.

Carrot is the character that just made me look at Dressrosa and have me think "The hell was I thinking?", where I have no hesitation supporting her joining.

Pudding is (now) one of those characters that still seems unlikely, but at the same time could very well sneak up on you out of nowhere.

Jinbe is in his own class, in that this is a promise that Oda should be keeping unless he foolishly decides to kill him. I just saw him as being a given after FI, Luffy just had to be at a point where one could casually say he's much stronger than Jinbe, which he now is.

Caesar.... just no.

Meh, I'm talking about the Straw Hats though. I just didn't see them suddenly accommodating to someone of her stature. Also she doesn't have her feet yet.

But yea, like you pointed out, the Straw Hats have options for dealing with them, and that's not even getting into alliance shenanigans.

And yeah, I'm with you on the rest. Especially Caesar. The dude is pure scum; I can't understand why anyone would want him to join.
