I'm almost done with zelda botw, have a few more things sidequests to do before going to fight ganon but this entire playthrough I can't stop thinking how much more I would enjoy this game if it had trophies :(

Like there is so much cool stuff to discover in this game and each time I discover someting neat I wish there was a trophy for it. Usually when I play a game I also like to check my progress by looking at the trophies for the game and or looking at a friends trophies and see if they got certain trophies I managed to get or didn't get, and compare and stuff, with Botw many times i wish I could see if other people on my friend list also managed to discover something that I just did like idk mounting a lynel something I discovered late in the game.

Man its such a bummber to me that nintendo still hasn't put in a trophy/achievements in their system :(

No for me.

I personally don't care for trophies or achievements.

I think the only time I did was that Kirby Air ride system

Yeah. With how this game is a bit MMOey in terms of structure. They could have had a list of challenges without affecting things negatively.

OP, I hope Nintendo introduces trophies just for you and they're things like "collect all 900 Korok seeds" and "do X thing 500 times".

For real though, BoTW gave me plenty of reasons to continue on with in-game rewards rather than trophies.

I would say the opposite
Every time I find something among all the beautiful secrets I.. enjoy the in game item/reward

Havnt played BotW yet, but i see where you're comming from. I'm currently playing through Dark Souls 1 on PS3, trying to collect some of the trophies that i missed back in the days. The checklist stuff is what i also enjoy about this, doing the challenges that the developers put in there.

what's wrong with you.

I'm serious.
What does this have to do with anything?

I would like some concrete hard to attain goals.

Then some secret exploratory goals.

So much of the map is unexplored. Incentivize me.

I'm not crazy about trophies anymore but trophies would've been at least something instead of the shit you get from most side quests, like I just stopped caring about those because I know the reward is worthless.

I like achievements and trophies as well as other fans of them but it's refreshing to not have them and just play games to play games instead of worrying about going after that super rare feat or worrying I missed one.

WHat I mean is I now look up if a game has any "missable" ones and if difficulty makes a difference. Instead of just enjoying the game, like I am Zelda now, I waste time on not enjoying a game and worrying about the achievements or trophies.

I'm fine with defining my own goals for the game. I think the game does a pretty good job of giving feedback on how much progress you've made too.

I just don't see what trophies would add.

Nah, Achievements/Trophies are the console gaming equivalent of the sparkly fanfare that phone games give you to feed the lizard part of your brain into thinking that you're making some sort of progress when in reality they're meaningless.

I like trophies on every game, not for score but for keeping a log with timestamps so I can go back and see what I was playing years ago

There are more important things I want in Breath of the Wild than pointless trophies, like proper dungeons.

Unless they unlock in-games rewards trophies add zeros value to the game other than artificially extending the game play length without adding new content to the game.

Yes, I'd really love to have them. At this rate once I beat it, I'll prob not launch it again. If it had trophies it'd keep me coming back after.

I wish I could get into trophy culture. Every thread you got people saying how they platinumed a beloved game, like it brings them great satisfaction. Feel like I'm missing something.

No way. The game is about doing what you want, exploring where you want, and creating your own metrics for success.

There's a very conscious reason that the loading screen says "125 Korok Seeds" instead of "125 / 900 Korok Seeds".

I don't get the resistance to trophies/achievements. They're there for those that want them, and can also be ignored (notifications turned off) for those that don't. They don't make the game worse for those that dislike them, but increase enjoyment in games for those that want them. And it's not like they affect game design.

Nah. Just exploring and finding out all the cool shit I can do on my own without any outside guidance is more than enough motivation to play for me. I think achievements/trophies are generally pretty easy to ignore if you don't want to pursue them, but BotW is the one game where I'm actually grateful for their absence.

No, completing the shrines fulfills most of that for me. I'm sure I would get a few more hours out of it if there were trophies though.

Can you imagine the trophies they were going to implement?

"Complete the Map"

"Complete the Compendium"

"COLLECT EVERY SINGLE KOROK SEED"

Thank god I decided to not care about trophies that much after trying and failing to get the Assassin's Creed III platinum.

No. The reward should be being able to accomplish something you thought you couldn't do in of itself. Not a little ding and a cute picture with some funny text.

The game rewards you for doing things, why do you need that little bit of text and icons a trophy bring? To each one their own, but man, just enjoy the damn journey and the actual in game rewards and incentives, instead of worrying about checklists and e-peen.

Imagine the shame if there was a achievement for killing over 100 of innocent wild animals.
Not that I would get that achievement, of course not.

Nope, game was rewarding enough on its own.

I guess it would be neat for half a minute to see stats on shrine location / quest completion / etc, but it doesn't ache my heart or anything.

Imagine the shame if there was a achievement for killing over 100 of innocent wild animals.
Not that I would get that achievement, of course not.

My SO would have gotten the "kill 1000 animals by running them over with your horse" 'cheevo.

If Zelda had "achievements" there would be one tied to finding all the Korok seeds.

And basically, fuck that. I would like an achievement system in Nintendo games (especially virtual console, I feel there's something cool to be done with that) but I'm also not like, not upset about it.

Granted they wouldn't HAVE to tie one to something like that, but the likelihood is there.

Make your own trophies out of card and glitter, and then give yourself one when you have done something you consider to be a milestone. If it was easy, be fair and give yourself a bronze one. If it was 900 Korok Seeds, give yourself the gold one. :)
