So Smackdown Live has garnered their lowest rating of the year thus far...

...I say this Superstar Shakeup has done wonders for both rosters, what say youse guys?
I even though I'd consider it a success I gotta say the totally long term planned and not out of their ass booking has definitely made it shine. Props to Vince & Co

Such geniuses

I might be taking another wrasslin break. Nothing really speaks to me right now. I'll get the Network again when E&C season 2 drops, or if something super dope like Thunder/Saturday Night/Sunday Night Heat shows up.

The booking on SD is really weird, is full of racism and evil foreigners, something that is really played out. Before the draft SD only had the shitty Ziggler beating minorities feud, but now all SD feels like that. Talent wise SD is better, but the writing seems to be different or maybe Vince just became more involved or the SD before the draft was just a fluke.

Shinsuke needs to moonwalk to the ring. Also his entrance video font still isn't Asian enough. Can we write his name in chopsticks?

So..
Rusev demands a future title shot or else he's going back to Bulgaria
AJ Styles is feuding with Kevin Owens
Tyler Breeze and Fandango are number one contenders
A new stable is being pushed to the main event and stole the WWE Title (albeit with an old ass gimmick, but still)
Naomi and Charlotte have a really decent main event match

But Smackdown is unwatchable because Nak got what'ed after speaking a language nobody in the building speaks in hicktown Iowa? and because Orton is champ so that he can help establish different heels as main eventers (Jinder, Rusev, eventually Corbin?)

I don't know guys. Maybe it's because I watch the show with my little one who is entertained by just about everything, but I don't think it's as bad as you guys make it out to be. Clearly the Shake Up was rushed and mishandled, and we're feeling the effects of that on both shows. There were a lot of guys on the roster floundering in between things, but this past week of programming has helped shape up who will be working with who going forward.

Also, shoot: Ziggles is over as a heel. Internet hates him. Crowds hate him. He'll always be a good worker in the ring. As Miz moves to an in-betweener because of the IWC, Ziggler is going to be left as one of the only actually true heels that can go. Name another guy in WWE who both the IWC and casual fans hate, and who can perform in the ring.

Crowd what'ed Nak? Ugh...yeah...

I wouldn't be surprised if Vince became more involved.

That said, I can see Smackdown getting better after Payback. Right now they're just trying to get through the weeks until Backlash gets closer.

I feel like Smackdown in a rut because of Orton being the champ and trying to work around that.

Became more involved? He was already deeply involved

I remember that period of time when Meltzer had to confirm a million times that Vince was as involved with Smackdown as he was Raw because people thought Smackdown being so good in the earlier days meant there's no way Vince was involved with it.

If that Paul Heyman shoot about why Vince fired him as Smackdown's writer is true (he was busted for listening in on RAW's conference call), then I imagine nothing on tv gets by without Vince.

Adding Rusev's entrance music to that scene of him rolling up to the apartment to pick up Lana for the wedding was the best.

Yes, Vince approves everything on the show. Road Dog and Ryan Ward go to vince and then he approves it or denies it.

Plus as for the overall ratings on Smackdown from Observer:

SmackDown was sixth for the night on cable in total viewers, with its main competition being an NBA playoff game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets, which did 4.143 million directly opposite SmackDown.

The episode did finish third for the night in the 18-49 demo, trailing only the two NBA playoff games that both aired on TNT.

SmackDown is now averaging 2.57 million viewers on Tuesday nights since the brand split, well up from what the show had been doing in its taped format on Thursdays. The numbers have dropped with the traditional post-Mania lull, as expected, but would still be considered good at their current levels.

Vince was involved on SD (and all other WWE products) but not at the level that he micro-manages everything like on Raw. That is why the show felt different, right now SD feels like Raw. Nakamura is an example, how they gave him a shitty nickname, changed a bit his entrance, has to wear his merchandise, talk with a mouth guard because Vince probably thinks he looks bad ass like that, etcetera.

If it appears on live TV it was micro manage by Vince. I mean smackdown had the same type of booking that raws has book the writing save them.

How crazy must it be for someone like Jinder to go from total jobber nobody to holding the WWE title in his hands even if its an angle

Jinder is doing Trips confirmed?

HHH was (more or less) at the top of the card heel wise when he got the belt. I just wanted to throw some raw meat at the starving lions.

The last time this legitimately happened was with JBL going solo and getting to the top in a few weeks.

AJ is another example, when he was on Raw they tried to force this pitbull shit, the commentators were more aggressive towards him, but once on SD it felt like the grip of Vince was lighter, like Vince takes thinks easier on SD, since after all for him SD is and always going to be the B show.

Also we never hear that the scrip of SD had to be re-written at the last hour, and for Raw we get that form time to time, that just shows how much more involve Vince is on Raw than SD.

i wonder what guys like okabayashi, sekimoto, ishikawa, etc think about shibata's injuries considering they do even worse shit and have been doing it for even longer

ishikawa seems like a normal ass dude going by his blog

Agreed. Can't imagine watching something on WWE TV thinking Vince didn't have any say in it, let alone a lot

Strangely, people aren't that way with HHH and NXT. Wonder why. They won't be able to do it when he's got the whole company and the many mistakes are still there/have gotten worse

As much as I hate HHH there's no doubt in my mind he'd be less worse than Vince is right now. Definitely not business wise but at least the product would be a little bit more watchable

HHH's handling seems a lot more forgiving (although the fact that NXT's weekly shows have dropped in quality since Dusty's death doesn't seem a coincidence at all). People seem to think anything good on the main roster has to be because of him. Shit people thought HHH booked that first Raw of the brand split when it happened because it was so good.
