Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is already the best selling game of 2017 on Amazon

Higher than Zelda, higher than Horizon.

These are cumulative sales.

Edit: A lot of posters are saying that Amazon hasn't been able to deliver their MK8 preorders on time. For more on that...

Direct quote from my Amazon rep just now:

I am sorry to hear that the order is delayed.
I would like to inform you that the orders were received in excess to the stock.

Thanks bud.

EDIT: More:

Shubham: Please consider this as an isolated incident and I hope you give us another chance to serve you better.
Until last 3 daqys it was all good but in last 3 days there was tremendous increase in the orders for the game. That is why this happpened.
Me: I see.
So the last three days affected my order from over a week ago?
Shubham: It affected all the orders even a month before.
Oh my god :(

Me:
I suppose you are all dealing with a lot of stress with this too.
Thank you for everything.
Shubham: Yes
this Mario game has caused a lot of head ache today.
I loved this game but from today I have started hating this.

Great result, though it should be said this is only the case on amazon.com, not on other countries' rankings yet.

And that doesn't include the digital version which is really high on the hourly charts right now. Interested to see where that ends up.

But guys no one wanted these games on Wii U so why would people want them on switch???

Edit: I used three question marks and I'm still being taken seriously???

If Zelda sold more copies than Switch units, does this mean there are more copies of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sold than Switches?

Wish they would have honored my Prime release date delivery for the best selling game of 2017 :( Gotta cancel and pick it up around town I guess.

I thought Zelda was why everyone was buying Switches though, it already had a bizarrely high attach rate.

BTW, most likely all of the sales of Switch and Mario Kart 8 on Amazon are due to scalpers. Even the digital versions. I think most of you in this thread are scalpers too. Don't come any closer.

Too bad it's not one of Amazon's most successfully shipped games of 2017. Seriously, it sounds like 20-30% of people on here who pre-ordered from Amazon(with release date delivery) got massively shafted.

Maybe that's why they can't ship the game on time for prime members...

That sucks. Amazon has never missed a release date delivery for me, including this game. Make sure to let customer service know, so you can be compensated.

I think Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will probably prove that the Wii U really was just such an unappealing black hole of a console that was fundamentally flawed in its concept, so much to the point where nobody but us Nintendo diehards wanted to buy it, even if it had good games on it.

Now, that was pretty obvious all along, but I'm just bringing it up because a lot of folks were saying in the past that "uh, if people didn't buy a Wii U for MK8 why would they buy a Switch for it?", ignoring the fact that the Switch is a far more stronger concept for a console and thus obviously more appealing to the masses.

Goddammit, I wanted to buy this digitally so that it's always installed in my Switch...but physical copies > *.

Strangely this thread is making me want to get a physical copy somewhere, lol.

They've missed several for me in the past couple of years, even sometimes when I'd pre-order 3+ months ahead of time. Prime has lost its value in terms of delivery time for me.

They screwed up my NS order on launch day and it sucked. Ended up getting some great compensation that allowed me to get LEGO City Undercover for practically nothing. Still sucked, but I think it's a good idea to avoid using Amazon if you want the game on launch day. You never know whether they're going to screw it up or not.

My amazon copy isn't arriving until Sunday because... Reasons.. So I bought it at Walmart. Gonna take the amazon copy to Walmart and get a refund or just send it back. I think I'm gonna stop pre-ordering at Amazon because they have fucked up that stuff several times for me now.

Wow, this is insane.

To be fair, I convinced a friend this week to spring for a Switch when he learned he could get Zelda for himself and Mario Kart for the family. I think this is the perfect game to follow up Breath of the Wild. Been waiting for something multiplayer to show my Switch off with.

The 'H' stands for hentai.
I look forward to playing this game when I can get the switch in store (in 2018).

On one hand, I am happy for Nintendo, on the other, I am kind of sad my prediction of the switch being impossible to find is becoming true since I kind of want one now with Mario Kart 8 out xD

Mine is still telling me it'll arrive by 8pm (EDT) so they have 3 hours to fulfill it for me.

#3 in UK, France and Germany, but it keeps climbing, and it only released today.
Strangest thing is Canada imo: it's only eighth there, below preorders for Super Mario Odyssey.

I think MK8D will climb to the top of these charts in the coming days, it should be really close already considering the US situation (I would guess).

Amazon definitely messed with their shipping formula this year.

There are some products (like diapers) that are now always late. The only bright side is I get a free month of Prime every time I order diapers.

Really hoping video games aren't one of the products they messed up.
