Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is already the best selling game of 2017 on Amazon

jts

...hate me...
In sales? Not a chance. Things like CoD and FIFA will outsell it.
For this year it will be tight but in the long run there will not be a single FIFA or CoD able to compete with MK8D's sales. This same game will keep charting next year, and then the year after that. Very big in that sense as well.

I remember in one interview where Reggie said that New Super Mario Bros was going to outsell that year's COD and everyone laughed at him. Turned out he was right Xd.

Mario Kart is no joke. It can outsell anything.

I was only in GAME for about 10 minutes and i overheard at least 3 different parents wanting to buy mario kart and a switch, both sold out and they were told to get on a waiting list but they just got angry and left.
Is the switch still sold out everywhere? i thought we would be long past this...

MK8D would have to have an attach rate of nearly 100% to beat FIFA this year.

Yeah it's still sold out most places. No end in sight as far as I'm aware.

It's had a significant restock in the U.K this week for Mario Kart.

Argos, this morning, had > 500 stores with stock.

Still shows hundreds of stores with both colours right now.

That's nuts, you would think nintendo would get systems in shops a.s.a.p before they change their minds but maybe people will just wait and buy once available.
Good to see mario kart doing well, the wii u version was incredible but sadly like most games on wii u under appreciated.

Just checked argos online and your right, they seem to have some in stock but sold out near me.
The site also said over 100 sold in the last 48hrs for both switch console and mario kart, and also over 50 about to buy this product now....
crazy times for switch...

Nintendo has been trying to do restocks as soon as they can from what I've seen with my restock trackers. The switch is just being a lot more successful than people thought.

Yeah you are talking about New Super Mario Bros Wii. He said that it would have higher sales by the end of the year (2009) in the US. I think combined COD sold a little bit more, but New Super Mario Bros. Wii was close enough by having a monster ~3 million December 2009 that everyone just kinda gave it to him.

Especially considering FIFA will pick up another million or so in sales when the Switch version itself launches in 2017 tbd.

Will it even break the million mark? I can see it reaching 800K/900K globally perhaps, but my take is that outside of curiosity - and those who want to send a strong message that 3rd party support is definitely with Switch from a consumer stand-point - there won't be that big an interest for it. I don't play FIFA so I'm speaking outside of that particular base obviously; I do want to know if the rumour regarding 18's Switch port - that it's based on previous-gen - is both true and detrimental to its sales on the platform.

Other places sold out in a matter of hours in the UK. Argos where also one of the last to sell out of their initial shipment, i wonder if they get larger shipments or simply gamers dont know to shop there.

I hope it's not sold out in stores... My Switch is supposed to arrive in the post today so I was planning to pick up Zelda and MK today.

I've been trying to add this (digital version) to my cart on Amazon so I can just use points and get it for free, but it won't let me, just takes me straight to a checkout where I have to pay and I don't even have the option to change my payment method. Very strange, as I can do it for several other digital games I tried. What gives? I suppose I'll just wait 'til it lets me do that...

Amazon is weird with digital purchases. There seems to be neither rhyme nor reason to whether it decides to let you add them to your cart or it makes you pay on the spot.

Yeah as I thought Nintendo fans just love to hit Horizon for no reason. I'm gonna quote this and reaction in this thread for future proof.

PS: HZD on US sold more than 640k on retail while if Digital included it sold more than 1 million. While Zelda has around 2-3% attach rate of digital sales.
Made me laugh.

You Horizon fans are a funny bunch.

Target seemed to be pretty low when I bought my MK8 last night. Possibly they had more in the back tough. Can always buy digital.

Can't wait for this actually. Hope they don't gimp it too hard.

Me too! I want Sports Sims on the Switch so damn bad right now I'll buy anything that gets released. Being able to take my Madden, NHL or FIFA on the go is such an appealing prospect that whatever downgrades are needed to make that happen don't even matter to me. Get me 360/PS3 quality at worst and I'm g2g.

Best Buy had tons yesterday as well when I picked mine up (late afternoon). I'm guessing by this weekend though, it's going to be harder to find. It's great to see this doing so well, although crazy that even someone as massive as Amazon couldn't keep up with demand.

Uh, I am seeing "ships within 1-2 months" on amazon.com right now. Can a US citizen confirm that this isn't amazon.com forcing through my Netherlands locality even though I selected the US as country to ship to?

It just changed for me as well. But I'm not in the US either so can't confirm it's for everybody.

I'm seeing that too. Weird. I'm a US citizen

don't joke like that, people will take it seriously and blog about it.

I could see Nintendo legitimately under-estimating demand for it. It IS a remake, after all.

As to your previous question about costs, ultimately you're increasing the amount of parts for circulation and are able to shrink the 8gb process which is the same as the other processes (just with more readable memory, which you'd produce more of), so it should reduce costs across the board and possibly speed up the creation of 64gb carts.

I ordered Mario kart 8 from amazon a few weeks and it got delayed till Monday. I called up amazon to complain but I couldn't just yell at the customer service person... I told them to cancel the order so they refused the order and should be refunded soon. Just got the digital copy instead. I'm really tempted to go all digital for everything. Getting tired of keeping up with physical games.

Aren't those PSN cards likely to have been used on Horizon: Zero Dawn though?

The 'H' stands for hentai.
It's the most powerfull handheld device they ever created related to any game company.

To be fair, the Nintendo switch is the most powerful thing in tablet form not made by Apple.

Also, at this point in time there is nothing that is more powerful than the Switch unless Nintendo was able to get Apple-made custom CPU's. People forget that this is bleeding edge tech, and for Nintendo, getting state of the art anything is not what they traditionally do. Nvidia also scored their first gigantic hit with the Tegra and they are probably pouring more money in development so Switch 1.5 and Switch 2 will be gigantic jumps in power while having better battery life.

Wait what? Didn't Zelda have like a 96% attach rate, who is buying all of these copies of MK8?

These numbers don't add up....
