The lyrics of this song I just heard on Spotify are pure hate speech

For Lemmy, he's stated in interviews that he thought that Nazi memorabilia looked cool. I don't think that thinking something looks cool is synonymous with being racist

Nazi uniforms were slick as hell, no denying.

Parody or not, that is some truly awful shit.

No one should complain about Rap music ever if that kind of bullshit is allowed to fly in the name of 'comedy'. (Aint shit about it funny, either.)

The kind of shit I imagine Trump has on repeat.

Holy fuck, I do not belong in this thread. At all.

That was my original intention when i voiced my opinion about "Angel of death". Kinda of off putting for the backslash i received just to voiced my opinion about a song that makes me feel uncomfortable. One dude here called me "part of the problem" before editing his post. Don't know why ....

Well, this is more direct!!! didn't know about this song.

Also i found the photo of Slayer members doing the nazi salute. This was the only link i could find, which ironically talks about how Kerry King was accused of being antisemite in the past, for the song........you guessed it, Angel of death (also before the Trump's era).

The article is also about Phil Anselmo doing HIS nazi salute. Which showcases this problem in the metal scene.

http://www.metalinjection.net/lates...elmo-was-out-of-line-with-white-power-gesture

Anselmo is a twat and most likely is a racist douche.

But you keep saying "problem with the metal scene" as though every "scene" doesn't have its share of racists or idiots who take things way too far/literal. This isn't "a problem with the metal scene", its a problem with society in general.

Also, if Angel of Death makes you feel uncomfortable, then I think thats the point? No one should feel "comfortable" with what happened.

You seem to be hell bent that Slayer is a bunch of racist Nazis and even the article you mentioned does nothing to support this(in fact, it defends Slayer against it) but you've somehow inferred that is does.

The first song I thought of was "Cave Bitch" by Ice Cube.

Give me a black goddess sister I can't resist her. No stringy haired blonde
Hair blue eyed pale skinned buttermilk complexion. Grafted recessive
Depressive ironing board backside straight up and straight down. No
Frills no thrills Miss six o'clock subject to have the itch mutanoid
Caucasoid white cave bitch

Ease back white bitch I don't play that
Just because I got on my L.A. hat
Stalkin' walking in my big black boots
Is my jingle, now you want Mandingo
Big, black and handsome
I should hold your devil ass for ransome
Sorta like Patty Herst, but I'll burst first bitch
And you know what's worse
I'm coming from the land where the choppers roam
So phuck you bitch and your Coppertone
Stringy hair, no derrier, frontin' and fakin' with your silicone pair
Do I want to fuck? Not hardly
That's kinda like Barbie phuckin' Bob Marley
It ain't gonna happen, I keep rappin'
Motherfuck Teniell, but see I'm the Captain of this ship
And I'm true to the game
Ya all look the same
Standin' by my backstage door, hopin' that'll switch
Spread out you little cave bitch

Why everytime we get famous
You want to play us like Andy and Amos?
The devil sent you to try and tame us
But you can't tame me, with no bitch named Amy
Lookin' for the dark meat
But ho, I ain't tryin' to go out like Barkely
'cause everytime I turn on the TV
I see several brothers with she-devils
Smilin' 'cause you out on a date
But sooner or later, the bitch'll yell rape
Soon as daddy found out you a jigaboo
He'll kill like he did Emmitt Till
Yah, he tried to kick bass
But the bitch probably threw it in his face
Sargent Bale ain't nothin' but a trick
Nasty as hell, stanky little cave bitch

Now don't think that I hate you
'cause I won't date you, bitch I gotta stay true
You can be a fan, but don't expand
And try to get my dick in your hand
You better run to the minute man
Pale as snow, so act like ya know
'cause if I slap it, flip it, and rub it like that
Yeah, it gotta be black
Plus yo ass too flat
I need a butt big enough that can clap
Rat-a-tat-tat
You can't get mine ho
I'd rather phuck an albino
At least I know, she's comin' from the Nubian
And not the Ku Klux Klan that you be in
And I don't give a fuck if your family is rich
You're still a little cave bitch

On a purely aesthetic level, the Nazis were stylish.
You won't ever catch me trying to recreate the look or even standing up for people that do. But Hugo Boss did some A-1 work.

I think you're overthinking it. It's all out parody cheese as stupid as can be. I don't like the band either but this is meant to be dumb and not an actual redneck anthem for xenophobes and the like. Just goofy, stupid, glam rock turned up to 11. Trump wouldn't even cross my mind if this played at some summer BBQ.

I don't get how that would be a rights thing.

Apple Music has lyrics.

Huh. Then I don't what the deal is then. Cause they were there and it was good to ok at times. Then they just went away forever.

You mean the problem that idiots exist? Anselmo fucked up big time with that; he got a lot of shit for it (by the press, and by his peers), and he dragged down his band with that as well (Down had numerous shows cancelled). He 'apologised' (not that that truly matters), but these kind of incidents are very, very rare. 99,99 procent of all "metal" artists are decent, fun guys and girls who just like to make extreme music, often accompanied by "extreme" topics and imagery. Sure, there are exceptions to that rule (certain black metal artists and right-wing punk/hardcore bands), but saying that it is a "problem in the metal scene" is pushing it. It's a problem in every "scene".

My point was that i feel uncomfortable with the song not only for the subject matter, but because i feel that the song is glorifying Mengele in some "metal edge-lord" way , more than portraying the horrors of his actions.

Let's take the song of "uprising" from Sabaton, which talk about the Nazis. Nevertheless the song is also about the Polish resistance and in no way during the song it seems they are glorifying the Nazis. Quite the contrary.

Now compare this song to Angel of Death.

Regarding the article, i posted it only because it contains the photo where Hinnerman and Holt are doing the Nazi salute.

Also , apparently you didn't read the article, yes the author is defending Slayer, but also says things like:

"Secondly, this is much less offensive to me because it does seem like a joke and this is a private photo and not something that happened in front of a crowd of 200 people. We've all joking seig heil'd at one point or another"

Yeah dude, keep those jokes going /Sarcasm.

I don't know why you take so much offense in my opinion of the song and of Slayer. What is your angle?

Frankly not suprised with a dude sporting a Femto avatar praising the fashion sense of nazis

Also the day we talk about the casual sexism in hip-hop is going to be something.

The first one is family friendly retelling about Polish Resistance, the other is a cheap exploitation B-movie horror from the perspective of Mengele? Dunno what you're getting at. To be honest, I think a song like Slayer's 'Jihad' is far more worthy of discussing if it is "going too far".

I know you've already been corrected a ton of times but it's still pretty hilarious seeing someone caught off guard and thinking Steel Panther are being legit / real and not parody

My "angle" is that your opinion is that a band wrote a song glorifying a Nazis when they clearly didn't, by their own admission and by just reading the lyrics. I don't understand how you can form an opinion on something that is literally the opposite of what the facts are.

Also, comparing Slayer and Sabaton is like comparing apples and oranges

Didn't you hear? Steel Panther were Trump's first choice to play the inauguration, but they had other commitments.

The mosh in front of the White House would have been great though.

This reminded me of the song "angel of death" from Slayer. I know they said that they were not OK with the Nazis in an interview , but reading the lyrics you can tell they were not telling the truth (at least, that is my opinion) . After this song , not only i stopped liking Slayer, but it opened my eyes to the whole racist thing going on in the metal scene many years ago.

Lyrics:

Auschwitz, the meaning of pain
The way that I want you to die
Slow death, immense decay
Showers that cleanse you of your life

Forced in
Like cattle
You run
Stripped of
Your life's worth
Human mice, for the angel of death
Four hundred thousand more to die

Angel of death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead
Sadistic, surgeon of demise
Sadist of the noblest blood

Destroying, without mercy
To benefit the Aryan race

Surgery, with no anesthesia
Fell the knife pierce you intensely
Inferior, no use to mankind
Strapped down screaming out to die
Angel of death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead
Infamous butcher,
Angel of death

Pumped with fluid, inside your brain
Pressure in your skull begins pushing through your eyes
Burning flesh, drips away
Test of heat burns your skin, your mind starts to boil
Frigid cold, cracks your limbs

How long can you last
In this frozen water burial?
Sewn together, joining heads
Just a matter of time
til you rip yourselves apart
Millions laid out in their

Crowded tombs
Sickening ways to achieve
The holocaust
Seas of blood, bury life
Smell your death as it burns
Deep inside of you

Abacinate, eyes that bleed
Praying for the end of
Your wide awake nightmare
Wings of pain, reach out for you
His face of death staring down,
Your blood running cold

Injecting cells, dying eyes
Feeding on the screams of
The mutants hes creating
Pathetic harmless victims
Left to die
Rancid angel of death
Flying free

Angel of death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead
Infamous butcher,
Angel of death

It's impossible to read this not in tune to the song.

Little bit off topic, but there is something so hilarious to me about stating that you're "not OK with the Nazis".

Like you're just shaking your head in disapproval at all the Nazi antics

I see you guys taking the Slayer song at face value? I mean, there are hundreds of tales being told from the POV of the bad guy. That' song is like that.

There's a difference between using an IBM computer and saying "Damn, those calculation machines IBM made for the Holocaust were dope as fuck!"

Just as there is a difference between saying the machines were dope as fuck and actually supporting what they were used for.

There are ultranationalist bands and a sizable hitler youth movement in Chile.

Are they? I'm chilean and I haven't heard of something like that. Of course there's neonazis but there's nothing sizable about them.

Look what you did OP, this thread is going everywhere.

Fucking beat me to it with this last page.

And guys, nobody but OP is saying this is "hate speech". He just really misused the term and grossly misunderstood an attempt at humour. I really don't know how somebody could take those lyrics literally.

I provided a lot of reasons why i formed my own opinion about Slayer, if you are not ok with that, that's ok i guess.....

And i don't know what "facts" are you talking about . It's like you completely ignored the photo, or their cover of "Guilty of being white", if after those facts you are not able to form an opinion then i don't know what it can.

Totally, the very fact that they needed to release an statement like that after the initial backslash thanks to that song speaks volumes of the situation with that song.
