Gran Turismo Sport Beta Thread

Trash isn't the word I'd use but PCars audio mixing is bad. Engine sounds are way to loud no matter the point of view and drown everything else out. It's at a point I have to drop the audio all the way down at times. GTS sound from videos is a LOT better then what was in GT6 and I would say better then what is in PCars right now. Forza 6 is better as well of course. I'd rather have the sound to low then blaring in my ears.

You do know that you can isolate the engine audio in pCARS and adjust it independently of other sounds for personal preference, right?

American beta participants - is there a GR3 or 4 Nurburgring event up for tomorrow? I'm in the qualifying time trial menu - I'll leave the PS4 on overnight if not available.

Ahead in the audio department:

Need for speed (from Underground to recent title)
Grid Autosport
Forza Motorsport 1,2,3,4,5,6
Forza Horizon 1,2,3
Raceroom
Assetto Corsa
iRacing
pCARS 1, 2
Driveclub
Automobilista
The Crew
Driver San Fransisco
Dirt (1 to the Dave Sullivan and Co. masterpiece that is Dirt Rally)

Yeah Polyphony and the GT franchise have a long way to go...

This list applies to GT5/6 - but from spending many hours with the beta, I find GT Sport to be a huge step up. For example the GR4 Vette and Mustang V8s sound as good as any in Forza 6 in my view (I like both franchises).

I have the same issue. It's varied from car to car and from patch to patch even. It's not a settings thing.

Experienced it on Pc and ps4.

.....Still waiting on my invite Sony :/

Who cares if the end result is more convincing? GTS still has a shit load of work to do on the audio front, and pCARS is well ahead, still.

The sound in pCars isn't really convincing through. Yes, they sound powerful, but that doesn't mean they sound realistic. Modern road cars have a lot of sound dampening, and the road cars in pCars' cockpit view sound like all that dampening was stripped out.

Yeah but I'm not sure if I should have to turn it down to around 35 to 40%% to not a get a headache. The game should be more reasonable then that. Even then it doesn't solve the issue sometimes. In fact if I move the slider on the higher scale then those numbers it doesn't sound like anything changes which is why I have to drop it this low.

I can't agree with the crew. Just no

They've also updated Dragon Trail. A lot more stuff around the track now and the end chicane before the tunnel now has barriers which prevents you from cutting the track and also makes it a lot more risky to take that corner at high speeds.

"Something not mentioned in the notes is that Dragon Trail has been updated. This is especially notable toward the end of the track (before you enter the tunnel) as it's now has tents all over the place and stands. There are also barriers nears the chicane now which prevent you from cutting any of the course there. It makes it's a bit more difficult to thread the needle at higher speeds than before. They've also introduced different sound effects when you beat your sector time/lap time. I guess this is so you know how you're doing if you have your HUD turned off."

Something I didn't mention there is that I think the rumble strips have changed. It may just be my imagination because they've changed so many other things on the course, but they certainly don't feel like they're as big as they were before.

Lots of changes in the new version, but most notably there are races 24 hours a day, so everyone please come play! New race session every 20 minutes. They're still called "daily races" so I'm assuming the tracks will change out daily? Sometimes they have and sometimes they haven't over the past week. As the goal seems to be to bring in more server load across all hours, hopefully this means more invites might go out soon.

Car physics are different but it'll take testing. Sportsmanship rating is now a letter grade, and the grades seem to be more fuild which will help new players who are clean racers get to better competition more quickly.

The tracks look more polished and have more detail. In other words, there's an obvious step closer to it looking like an actual retail product now.

I'm glad they have races all day, now I can play more since I work most of the times they have had. Anyone want to do a comparison vid of these new track details? Does Nurburgring look a lot better?

Any mention of a "realistic" option to get the car exactly as it is IRL (brake balance, driving aids, gearbox, etc...)? This is one of the biggest ommissions in GT imo. How am I supposed to know how the car is IRL?

I've stopped playing the beta, what is does do it does well, but the restrictive race times, limited tracks (yes, I know it's a beta) and the car unlocking system (I hope the full game isn't the same) just sucks most of the fun out of it.

I'm enjoying unlocking a mystery car once a day, doing 2 Nordschleife laps for the 42km and learning the track.
Of course locking all the cars away in the full game would suck but I hope they'll keep a similar system.

When you've driven hundreds, maybe thousands of laps of those tracks (apart from Dragontail obviously), bashing out 26 miles just to unlock a random car isn't much of a draw (for me)

An easy grind is still a pointless grind.

Fuck that gaming model in 2017 - I personally outgrew it years ago.

Well, I guess it is a way for PD to ensure people actually keep playing the beta-. If they did it like "here, take your five beta tracks and your ten beta cars, off you go!", people would just do some hotlapping for a couple of days and get bored of it and stop playing because they'd have seen everything that's in the beta already.

I think the majority of the people in the beta have no actual interest in actively helping to make the game better by providing feedback and data. They just want to play around with the maximum amount of cars and tracks they can get their fingers on, and if you delay how fast people can chew through the limited beta content, the longer they'll keep playing, generating more data for PD to analyze.

I'm expecting a similar unlock model in the final game though, unless there's been a sudden seismic shift in PD's game-structure philosophy. Most traditional GT fans are probably hoping for some kind of grind/reward system too. It's deeply ingrained in the franchise's DNA.

Shandy, man that wall of high-res PC Forza screens. lol.

You appreciate GTS's vegetation shaders and lighting more when you see how flat it all looks in Pcars. All 60fps racers have a mass use of 2d billboards though. I think GTS needs to up its res to make it look better, and there are some large low-res looking billboards in the background behind the 3D trees that's pretty noticeable, so I hope those are just placeholders.

Yesterday I took a shot of my driving because of the trees, just to make a comparison with GTS and how the lighting reacts on them :

I would love to see them somehow tie the access to the cars to the driver rating and keep it live, so you can lose access to higher tier cars again if you don't stay clean. Reward cars for clean racing, wins and podiums rather just the amount of laps completed.

This is shaping up nicely...

Just please give me some training wheels before I go online Kaz. Flesh out the campaign just a bit more for us scrub drivers, and then I will happily go online to earn cool cars.

Also where's the production cars? I haven't seen a Subaru or Honda yet.
