WipEout Omega Collection releasing on June 6

Markitron

Is currently staging a hunger strike outside Gearbox HQ while trying to hate them to death
Excited for a new Mario Kart and a new Wipeout releasing.

It's like 1997 all over again, except I don't have to listen to the Spice Girls every time I put on the radio.

I ordered my copy at game.co.uk and got a 5 off 50 coupon.

As I don't plan to order more in May it may be helpful for someone.

Quote to reveal (no clue if the code is account bound though)

I also just preordered my steelbook copy from GAME but I'm in the US (no US steelbook of course). I've read mixed things about GAME not shipping internationally for whatever reason, etc; will I get my copy? There were no problems creating a US account and placing an order.

I'm in the US and I ordered something from them about a year ago with no issues. I didn't get a tracking number, but the package arrived in about a week and a half. No damage or delays. I'm seriously debating ordering the Steelbook from them myself, despite wanting the preorder stuff (theme, ship, and I think I heard something about a digital art book?) being offered on PSN. I also debated ordering a US physical version for the 4 preorder themes, but I can't justify triple dipping on this... can I?

Actually, before I get too crazy, can anyone tell me if a UK region game will play on a US region PS4? Also, would the code to redeem the preorder theme with the UK copy work on a US PSN account? I tried to Google it but I guess my Google-Fu is weak because I got conflicting info.

A UK game should play on a US PS4 but I think the pre order DLC would need to be redeemed using a UK/EU PSN account which is easy enough to create and then redeem.

There is a closed beta going on, check your emails.

I was invited yersteday everning, i did not apply for it filling any form etc.

Without going too much in it i was not that impressed by Fury and HD remasters, they look nice but not phenomenal.

2048 is legit, really nice looking.

Did you get it through email or PSN?

Really? That's good to know. I may just get the UK Steelbook and call it a day. The digital version is still tempting, but at least I know I have no reason whatsoever to triple dip, LOL. Thanks for the info!

Actually with this preorder it's my double dip since I preordered on PSN lol. Thanks for the info, some people's talk about GAME made it somewhat sketchy. The shipping is more or less what I would expect from them, assuming Royal Mail. If you preorder the steelbook you also get the 4 themes (according to the page on GAME) that the PSN version does not have (PSN version has 4 avatars + dynamic theme, etc).

Fuck the pre order bonuses. As a big Wipeout fan, I just want to get the whole package, but instead I have to compare and compromise. The dynamic theme looks really cool and it would be nice to have that extra ship but at the same time, the steelbook looks great and so do the 4 themes that come with it.

What are the chances the digital bonuses will be sold afterwards?
they won't tell it to you now.
from my personal experience, i had to preorder ratchet & clank from psn to get the bouncer even though i wanted the retail box. a year after it hasn't been sold separately yet and it likely never will, but I've checked on one of those key sellers, and they had the bouncer dlc for 1€ or so...super bummed but I learned the lesson

it MIGHT happen in this case too. though you won't know for sure until after release

That's interesting, in Australia at least the Bouncer came with the physical game too. Felt it was actually pretty damn OP so I didn't use it much.

But yeah, Xdev nor anyone else have said whether the dynamic theme will be available after release. Suppose they're welcoming of any double dipping.

Oh get fucked. I would spend an ungodly amount on that, it's beautiful and quite possibly perfect for a collector's edition.

Edit: Fuck, that's a media press kit? Jesus, how come they never release those to the public? It's not like they'd get the game better reviews :/

Get a base like this, find a nice 3D model like this, print, paint and wow everyone :D

Glad they're adding a few extras like a new ship and doing more than just an upres. Will look amazing in 4K.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm double dipping for those themes. I should be more responsible... but... Wipeout... so yeah, LOL.

The media get some really amazing stuff from devs as part of press kits pretty regularly. It's kind of cool for them to get access like that, but at the same time I feel like it's some real BS for the rest of us who are big fans of whatever game/franchise and would easily pay for the privilege that they're giving away to the reviewers for free. :(

It seems like they're going the extra mile with thoughtfully adddig new content to this game.

I'm still disappointed that there hasn't been any mention of PSVR support.

People joke about Barf Bags, but I'd love even a separate non-racing mode, like being able to inspect all the craft sitting on the starting line. Anything.

Fuck. I'm not one to be easily swayed by physical goodies because I always leave that stuff in the box anyways and I don't put gaming swag on display but I would paint that ship meticulously and put it on a shelf in my living room. I'd pay a hefty premium for such a collector's edition!

So excited for this. I loved the Wipeout games in my youth. Adored them! Only played a few, though.

I'll tell you, I've played a few others in the Antigrav racing genre and I can't stand them. Thematically they're great, but stuff like Fast RMX and stuff, even on the slowest setting, I'm knocking into every turn. I just don't have the reflexes. I'm hoping my memories of Wipeout will be accurate and that the first few speeds will be alright for me, at least.

One other thing the series does right that so many others don't in my book, in fact these other series' count it a badge of honor that they don't, is having weapons. I've GOT to have that aspect of combat in this type of game and Wipeout does it with style to spare.

In my heart, Wipeout will always have more in common with Mario Kart than Fzero. You better believe I preorded for my Pro. I'll be there for the 4k!

I know, in most countries you could get it with the physical game too, unfortunately that wasn't the case in my country. maybe the keys came from the other countries' retail boxes, now that you make me think about this

Oh god, I would sell so many organs to have that press kit :O

Also kind of a dumb question, but could someone who is in the closed beta confirm if it's possible to mute the in-game music? The custom tracks we're making at music-GAF wouldn't be of much use otherwise

New Tigron craft!

I'm actually taken aback, does this mean that new DLC will actually be coming for Omega Collection? I already knew about Van-Uber, but this was out of the blue! (Aside from that video of the press kit!)

I'm just so happy Wipeout is making a return.

Been looking side-by-side (with HD Fury) the footage we've seen and it seems that they've put quite a lot of work into the textures, that are much more detailed besides being higher-res, the lighting model seems to be slightly improved (less flat diffuse, mainly) and some effects were added, like heat haze.

Correct!

http://www.ebay.com/bhp/video-game-press-kit

In almost all cases you'll find press kits are actually better than the Limited Edition's available to purchase.

They should have a code that is inscribed on each and this code is linked to who received the promo and then once found out they are banned from all publishers and developers from receiving promo items and also they are named and shamed.

It wouldn't surprise me if those models ended up being released as stand-alone 'gotta collect'em all'.

What are the chances of the Van-Über ship being obtainable other than as a pre-order for the digital version?

I have the steelbook version on order, I don't like digital :(

Press kit unboxing
Here's another video of one of those Tigron press kits being opened. He takes a better look at it. On the inside it says # - 20. His isn't numbered, but it looks like there is only going to be 20 of them. So, that sucks. Oh well, the model really needs a good paint job anyway.

Saw this yesterday, forgot to post myself so thanks haha. Got me thinking though as to whether the sketched art that adorns the box is new or old though? Haven't seen it before so maybe it is new, but can't imagine they'd be doing any concept art for a simple remaster so maybe there's something else in the pipeline.

you can buy the steelbook separately(10£ on amazon uk).
or maybe you can wait; you might either find a key in the web, or wait for the digital release to get dirty cheap in some psn sale - apparently the van uber is not a preorder bonus, just a digital exclusive.

I love that they still keep up the backstory of the AG racing league. The Tigron KSV-R media kit has a little synopsis for the ship itself that kind of explains how they can put Tigron into the game given its history.
