Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition (Nintendo Switch)- Interview with Ancel

I'd kill for a sequel... with more of those awesome musical levels... hell... just make a Rayman game composed solely of musical levels, i'd buy that in a split second.

I was on the Rayman hype train back when it was supposed to come on the Wii U then got infamously delayed.

I bought it, played it and stopped lying to myself: Rayman games are some shit.

Have them on the vita. Would've loved to get a collection on switch. And that price feels like too much in my opinion. We'll see if the new content makes it worth it.

This is the worst post I have ever fucking seen in my entire life

I can't have an opinion or taste when it comes to platformers? The games don't do it for me. The levels aren't tight or polished like in the Mario or early Sonic games. The character designs are awful from top to bottom. Get off my case. At least I bought the game, I'm just used to better.

This really should have been an Origins + Legends collection. I know a lot of the levels from Origins are in Legends, but it's not the same.

Lol, Sonic games are shit in comparison, even the old ones. Random spikes& other hazards and shitty visibility everywhere in comparison to Rayman. The level designs are great, fitting both a more exploratory "find collectables & secrets" as well as speed running gameplay styles.

Yeah and I can have an opinion that you're wrong.

Ubisoft blew by not allow this avaliable by the launch.

I don't know, Rayman is not particularly a big seller. It would have gone completely ignored against the likes of Zelda, Bomberman etc.

Other than a few new levels, I don't see how much they can do to make this game the "definitive" edition.
It was already 1080p/60fps on Wii U and other platforms. Not to mention dirty cheap as well so there's really no incentive for people to get it outside of hardcore Rayman fans.

This game's only chance at being successful was as a launch game for desperate Switch owners to settle for as a fifth or sixth or tenth game. Now there's new content being released on the system at a decent pace. Who the hell is going to buy it now?

Yeah that's got to be a placeholder, they wouldn't charge that much for this.
They delayed the Wii U game when they realized the console wouldnt sell what they expected.

Switch selling exceptionally + home/portable + room for 3rd party games + Bomberman selling really strong = 60$

I think Rayman Legends already included most of the levels from Origin. Maybe all of them? Not sure about that.
I still liked origins more.
I'd like an opposite treatment which would be Origins + Legends levels.

Legends seemed more straightforward or something like that.

And when any other uni franchise comes out , will it see switch support ?

Great that it is coming to switch but 3rd party support is a we will wait and see in the meantime here is an older game remaster or some spin off . Please enjoy

I have bought this game far too many times already (separately on PS3, PS4, and PSVita) but it's destiny that I'll get it again on the Switch. Those music levels are some of the best in any game I've ever played.

Agreed. Those levels were awesomely designed. The first time I played them I felt something I had not felt since the 8-16 bits glorious days.

And the game is the platformer I've enjoyed the most since those days, too.

I'd want anything using the UbiArt engine to go to the Switch.

Have they said how they're handling the Murphy levels here? Because the method they adopted for the PS4 and X1 ports was fucking lame.

Erm you mean better. The Wii U and Vita versions of the Murphy levels were fucking horrible. If the Switch version is similar to the PS4/XBONE version I'll def bite

Got it on both Wii U and Vita. It's a fantastic game but I really hope they do some more levels as new content (if I can't have another sequel at least give me that much) and price it right otherwise I can't see myself rebuying it again on Switch.

This is hyperbole, Rayman Legends is one of the best 2D platform games available... on a non-Nintendo system.

Faint praise aside, Switch hasn't yet had the wave of A-grade 2D platformers that the WiiU had, so maybe Rayman'll do a better job of plugging the genre gap this time around.

Watch Ubisoft will butcher the release again by releasing it close to Super Mario Odyssey.

Yeah whether I get this depends if I have the option to remove the shitty touchscreen stuff from the game.

Legends is still my biggest ever gaming disappointment. Loved, loved, loved Origins, but Murfy ruined Legends on Wii U for me.

Yup, the official description for the game mentions "you can also connect two consoles for playing in local co-op", so it's basically handled via local multiplayer with two or more Switches:

1-4 docked or handheld mode Switches on the TV and Switch screens platforming, with up to 4 Joy-Con controllers (8?) connected between them
1 handheld mode Switch playing as Murphy
