NYT: Comey Memo Says Trump Asked Him to End Flynn Investigation

C__PkvYU0AAwvPL.jpg

The party of projection.

At this point, we need to ignore Trump. No amount of pressure we put on him will budge him, because he knows he has Congress in his pocket, and THAT'S the problem.

As long Republicans in congress feel that they can get away with not taking actions because all the focus is on Trump, they won't take action.

And as long as they don't take action, nothing will happen. There is nothing Trump will do that will make Republicans decide to impeach him if that pressure isn't put on THEM. Not him.

As things stand now, Trump really could shoot somebody in cold blood, in broad daylight, and get away with it. No joke.

This post is completely tone deaf to what is happening at the moment.

We are seeing an inkling of Republicans starting to turn on him. Chaffetz and Ryan have called for the memo to be released. Republicans are refusing to go to news channels to defend and talk about this. Donors are extremely upset. And this is BECAUSE nobody has let up on our Cheeto Turd. The longer this goes on, the more the leaks happen, the more people are willing to speak up, the less likely he will get away with anything. And just to make it clear, he's not getting away with it. At all.

At this point, we need to put more pressure on him than ever before. We're starting to see the cracks, both on him and his party.

remember me
This is a really bad timeline for Trump:

1. Meets with Comey, along with Pence and Sessions.
2. Tells Sessions and Pence to leave him alone with Comey.
3. Asks Comey to drop the FBI Investigation against Flynn, without Sessions or Pence in the room.
4. Fires Comey when Comey asks for more resources to continue with the investigation.
5. Threatens Comey not to release any tapes of their conversations.
6. Comey confirms Trump asked him to drop the FBI investigation.

=Obstruction of mutherfucking Justice in a hand basket.

---

NOW, Trump's potential defenses:

1. He said/He said. His words vs. mine. No actual recordings of the conversations.
2. Why did Comey wait until after he was fired to release his Memos? Why not bring this up to the Senate in February right after it happened? Why did he sit on this all this time?

-Ok, GAF - how will this all play out?

Will Republicans actually put Trump under the microscope? Or will they simply try to discredit Comey and bury the whole thing again?

You forgot the part where Trump asked Comey to pledge his loyalty.

Then Orrin Hatch becomes president. No good options here.

How fucked up is it that Hatch may be the best option? I doubt we get far enough down the line to have President Mattis.

Edit: And I mean best as in "probably won't blow the country/world up before 2020" best.

Somebody needs to photoshop Trump admin members in that gif from Pirates of The Caribbean: At World's End where the ship is blowing up, everybody is abandoning ship and the bad guy (Trump) just walks in slow motion watching everything get blown to smithereens around him.

SunhiLegend please

A side good effect happening now with all these controversies - the Republican agenda is being put in the back burner and it seems nothing is being done to push it. A lot of political capital needed for their legislative agenda is being spent right now as well.

He didn't sit on it though. According to the sources he submitted the memos to the DOJ but they did nothing with it.

Lol

What you see in the picture above is Keith Schiller, Trump's longtime bodyguard, walking with the president and carrying a folder with Defense Secretary Jim Mattis's private cellphone number written on a sticky note. We are running the photo blurred but it's still widely available on the AP wire service. Just to give you an idea of how clear the number is, here's a zoomed-in version:

I love the fact that it says, Mad Dog Mattis, tell me that is Trumps handwriting.

The Ex-FBI director that Trump fired is saying he was urged by the president to stop investigating him. Liberals freak out over the smallest fucking thing, right?! Not like us and any sort of birth certificates or Supreme Court appointments

remember people fuckin screaming about this?

Then Orrin Hatch becomes president. No good options here.

If a foreign power compromised an election and the person who won was complicit, there should be a special election.
Obviously we would be in uncharted territory, but there would be no sane reason to let anyone associated with the party who won illegally become President at that point.

NYT also corroborated it with other sources. NBC is also confirming.
So other news outlets are saying, "this guy read parts of Comey's memos that talk about Trump. No, we haven't seen the memos, we don't have a copy of the memos (that aren't classified, so why don't they? I'm not well-versed in this sort of stuff in terms of the legality of it, so if someone can inform me, that'd be helpful), and it's not being said by Comey, the guy who wrote it."

I reread the article and couldn't find anyone besides that one source mentioned. I can't help but be a bit speculative. It's not coming from Comey directly, and they don't have a copy? A little odd.

And if one was a Trump supporter, I imagine they'd just proclaim "fake news". Too many holes that need filling.

I do hope this leads to more, though.

-Does that mean Sessions read the memos and that's when he told Trump to fire Comey?

Did Sessions know about this too and choose not to follow up on it, but rather doubled-down on getting rid of Comey altogether?

Not going to happen as it would require Constitutional changes. It's why we have the line of succession.

Numerous news outlets say they have confirmed this with trusted sources.

These documents really exist.

Yes. The smart people (minus McMaster, who had to accept the position) were warned not to join up.
