Splatoon 2 Single-Player trailer

Can't wait to play this story mode, first Splatoon was ace.

Bosses were easy once you knew the twist though, but they were amazing in their design.

So what this means is, there's going to be a part in Splatoon 2 where the Inkling will have to activate a worn down computer under ink by hitting it repeatingly, right?

Not a super big departure. I hope the octoling AI is substantially harder, and give them some extra moves as well.

children are still going to need to be able to complete the game..
the single player exists to serve as a narrative tutorial for the game mechanics, especially since there might be unironically more switches then wii u's by the time the game finally comes out.

the bosses are already a good difficulty gate for the game, its more important to teach players that the octoling enemies control a set area and can ambush you if you don't look for them then for them to be anywhere near as competent as online players

Looks great, I'm getting this day one if my Switch arrives in time. Here's hoping it has the campaign of the first game as a bonus. I'd even buy it as DLC, since I never played it.

I'm guessing DJ Octavio slapped a mind-control device on Callie or something.

Really excited about the weapon variety in Hero Mode this time around!

Also, is it just me or do the levels seem more colorful, detailed and complex?

I'm assuming somewhere in this thread you've all talked about Moray Towers making an appearance in that trailer?

Will be interesting to see if any of the other multiplayer maps make it into the campaign.

Singleplayer looking awesome! Appears to be 30fps in the Hub City again?

So glad this is arriving in Summer, perfect time to launch.

Nine out of ten orphans can't tell the difference.
Aw man, I'heard a lot of people mention the surprisingly high quality of the bosses in Splatoon, in particular the final boss (whom I barely got a look at before someone stole my wii u pad so now I can't return...).

Any indication if some SP content (again: bosses) might see a return in the second game?

They showed a version of one of the old bosses (the cube weapon) as a stage obstacle, so maybe they'll be back in some form.

Mario Kart 8 is much more impressive to me and renders at 1080p60. Yet they can barely hit 720p60 for this?

its almost as though mk8 is a racing game and splatoon is a shooter with ballistic weapons whose bullets cause transformations to the environment.

Looks good. I didn't get the same excitement watching the trailer to it that I did Splatoon 1's single player trailer in that November 2014 Direct, though. All I want is more original levels than those based on existing multiplayer maps and I'll be happy.

I was going to save the single player campaign for the times where I don't have an internet connection, or when I'm on the move, but I'm worried I won't be able to play with gyro...if you're sitting on a moving bus or train, and the bus turns, then that'll interfere with the gyro controls.

Looks like fun. Splatoon IS fun.

Always have to mention the jaggies though. Just so Nintendo finds out about a thing called anti aliasing , one fine day.

I always thought it was suspicious how the Octarians used Callie's color.

With the 2 of them "split" I wonder who will host splatfests this time...maybe we'll get another character? Or maybe the little Judd will be a co-host? Maybe guest hosts for each one??
Same. Hopefully new characters.

Can I understand the story without playing the first game?

I think the gag about the player character not knowing of Marie is a nod to how niche the Wii U (and by extension the first Splatoon) was. Plus from what we know of the story so far it doesn't follow any story elements from the first game, instead being based off of a multiplayer event. I figure all relevant info from the first game will be explained in this one.

Just hope that doesn't mean we don't get Squid Sister hologram concerts anymore.

I think the recent post on Twitter describes why the Inkling perhaps doesn't know The Squid Sisters.

This is the only way we're getting more "Mario Galaxy", isn't it.

I'll definitely take it, though. And huzzah for the plot being based on the recognition that Marie is best Squid Sister.
It's honestly hilarious,
lol.
