When you pony up Marketing money? You get some sway. I don't know if its this much sway, but you get some sway.

You mean the same activision game that has 1 year + Sony exclusive content?

I don't think Scorpio will be out September 8 either. If that releases November, Sony gets 2 months at launch to say they'r the definitive version of the game. That's pretty powerful.
Yes that's the extent of it..... I mean we have had many games that have delayed pc releases and this is just one of them.....

Wow, that really pumped the breaks on whatever enthusiasm i had today :(

Now that I think about it, Activision probably wants those "Destiny makes 500 million in the first 24 hours" headlines too much to stagger a launch.

Destiny 2 will release on PC later than on consoles

Director Luke Smith said he hopes a PC launch date will be set "in the coming weeks."

Destiny 2 has been scheduled for release on September 8—but, as it turns out, that is only for the console versions of the game. The PC launch date, as Destiny 2 director Luke Smith told us at today's reveal event, hasn't actually been set.

"We're not committed to a PC date yet, but at Bungie we're totally committed to making a PC build as great as we can," Smith said. "Our partnership with Blizzard and being on Battle.net, we want to make sure that this version of the game has the time it needs to bake in the oven so it's a delicious piece of bread when it comes out."

Smith added he couldn't comment on how much of a delay the PC version would suffer, but said Bungie would try to provide a date "in the coming weeks."

Naturally, this also leads to questions about the Destiny 2 beta: Bungie said at the event that "everyone will be able to play it before it comes out," and access is being offered as a preorder bonus on all platforms—including PC. But those same listings (on GameStop and Amazon) also currently put the PC release date as September 8, which we know isn't the case, and the Destiny website says that "beta platform availability and launch date(s) TBD."

"Everyone will be able to play" seems unambiguous enough, but things can change, as we know, and even if the beta does come our way, there may be an extra wait involved for that too—also not unprecedented. We'll keep you posted.

I can wait a few weeks, I can't even play games around that time anyway. So it's not like Destiny spoilers will be out every where or anything like that :b

maybe we get a free DLC or something.

Heh, if PC players are going to be mad at a slightly delayed release date, they're definitely going to be mad at the Playstation exclusives if they're doing the same insane bullshit they did with Destiny 1.

The original Destiny had Playstation timed exclusive strikes. The problem is that timed exclusivity is for an entire year, so by the time the exclusivity ended, the next expansion had already come out. This means that all the rewards for completing the formerly exclusive content became outdated and there was no reason to play it any more, as the new expansion's content offered better gear.

Considering how flimsy the PS Exclusive gear and strikes ended up in OG Destiny, I'm not caring so much about missing them in D2.

People waited 3 years for GTA. While waiting isn't the preferred solution I'm sure people would rather get a good game than a rushed game like WB. No one wants another Arkham Knight

Honestly I'd rather they just didn't make the PC version at this point so I could just live with getting it for my PS4 Pro.

Now I just have to sit in stupid limbo about if and when the version I want will actually release.

This is lame.

Hopefully it's a 2-3 week timeframe and not a half a year.

Disappointing either way for a studio the size of Bungie.

GTA isn't a games as a service thing like Destiny is. The stories of Franklin, Trevor and Micheal remain relevant whenever it launches, which isn't the case with MMO styled games. Like if FF 14 released Stormblood 3 months ahead of time on PC and PS4 had to wait, it would mean months of content that would likely be trivialized for the PS4 players when it finally launched. And that game at least has cross play. In this case it could very adversly affect PC populations.

Activision going for that double dip strategy I see.
Can't blame them as long as some people do that.

this is probably a good decision. releasing a bad port on PC is a death knell. too many good choices on PC for people to stick it out, or waste time on a crap one, and if you do it right the first time, you guarantee yourself a massive player base for a very long time.

And this is now my major concern going forward. Are all patches going to be delayed on PC now? Expansions? The "best version" is not the one on a separate codebase that's months behind consoles.
