So I know that I am going to catch some heat for this, and I apologize to the boys in the back...
But I was watching AXS last night, some NJPW with JR doing the color commentary and I have to say that JR has gone full Gordon Solie mental.
I mean he goes off on tangents and everything has to remind him of Ricky Steamboat or Shawn Michaels or whatever.
He named at least three moves wrong including saying a sling blade took him back to Eddie's three amigos.
There will be moments of lucidity, when his co-commentator gets his attention but even that gets ignored at times.

It's true. But he's still Jimmy Ross. I let it all slide, especially after the hardships he's faced.

yeah JR is definitely losing it. sad.

it makes sense though. he's older now and we associate him with not only his prime, but his time as head of talent relations. he not only called those matches every week in the attitude era, he was basically attached at the hip to most of those people on the roster, so he knew exactly the right buttons to push to get them over.

he just doesn't have the same relationship with, say, new japan, no matter how great the in ring is. he's not going to be able to get them over in the same way. they gotta find a way to get mauro on those shows again.

I dunno, having Jim Ross on commentary for the UK special was 100000000x better then the usual dumb fucks WWE uses.

He may not be "Prime Jim Ross", but he's better then just about anyone else out there on his worst day.

God bless, RVD

RVD was the most misused wrestler in WWE history.

I was watching Vengeance 2006 yesterday which happened like two weeks before he and Sabu got caught in the car. He had a pretty good match with Edge and of course was the WWE Champ.

Then again he was in the middle of the card while DX main evented so maybe he wasn't doing so good.

Bushi v Desperado last night was surprisingly good.
Ending with the mask gimmick was good as long as they maybe get a feud out of it.

His career pretty much came to an end because he smoked pot. Can you believe that?

So I heard a radio ad for Smackdown coming to my area in July with the prospect of Jinger Methol being the champ, should I go?

There was zero mention of Jinder on the radio ad, granted those things are done way in advance but they had Shinsuke Nakamura as the last one listed like a big deal at the end of the names appearing making him sound like a big deal.

Part of the problem, I think, is that he's just not as familiar with the current wrasslers. And that starting and stopping -- instead of, say, commentating one show weekly -- hinders him finding a groove.

Which is kind of what you said, but whatever, Anth0ny.

Hey, whoa. Settle down.

But yes, he's still pretty good.

Canceled my WWE Network sub.

Good for you.

(Not joking.)

WWE basically kept him as the 'yeah dude!' bro gimmick for his whole career. ONS '05 is the only time in his WWE tenure he showed any fire.

To be fair, as a wrestler RVD was on autopilot for years. He hit his spots, occasionally hit his pogo stick bump and went home.

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
Alesteir Black's theme isn't that good from a pure music standpoint but damn if isn't hype.

I'm a little surprised he's not on the TakeOver card given how high they seem to be on the guy.

he's probably going to take the title off roode
I'm a little surprised how popular he is but so far he seems like the guy in NXT for now. Having him put on some kind of great match here seems like it would set up something super hype for Brooklyn III.

I'm pretty happy how NXT's matchups look for the next year or so. It took a while to rebuild but they got the singles divisions restocked pretty well.

Getting pulled over by cops while smoking pot to be exact

There is a point where you have to CYA.
Getting caught driving is big.
Being stupid enough to do High Times covers and other pot mags also.
That guarantees you that you will never be the guy on Good Morning America with the belt.
Enjoy yourself, do your thing but play the game and be discreet.
