Did Easy Allies just leak the release date for Red Dead Redemption 2?

The reason I tend to believe it might be real is because Huber didn't even flinch when he said it. If this was information not revealed to him he would freak out.

Doubt they know. Rockstar is very secretive, annoyingly so. Stuff like this doesn't get shared like that from them.

Or he just nods along a bit and isn't really paying 100% attention, which happens a lot with taping stuff.

Do you guys think that they'd keep the video live if it was the real date? I guess the damage would have been done already and pulling it would raise suspicion though.

Yeah it's just..weird. If Jones was at E3 judges week like Greg Miller and others were...who knows what they saw. Miller commented he saw his game of the show for 2 different titles. Lol

Can you imagine if RDR2 is playable at E3 with this being the first public attendance? Take Two has booth space but they've announced RDR2 and NBA for the year. For arguments sake RDR1 was playable at PAX East 3 months before release IIRC.

Take-Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick said in an interview in november last year that he's highly confident that RDR2 will be out in Fall of 2017.

I mean the game has been in development since 2013 and has been Rockstar's worst kept secret and they themselves mentioned a RDR sequel back in 2012. I think they would of kept the public announcement longer and only announced it 7 months ago because of an investors call happening the following week and Take Two had nothing for 2017. A similar situation which led to GTAV's premature reveal however that one had been in development for 12 months if not less.

RDR2 will also have a huge online component, we know that already. Besides, it's not good for either developer to release near another heavyweight.

Rockstar can easily choose another date.

I wonder if they will even support RDR 2 Online as much as GTA 5 Online, or if they can give both an even-amount of support simultaneously.

RDR2 floats my boat so much more than GTA 5 due to the setting, the animal ecosystem in place, the vast wilderness and Dead Eye slow motion goodness. If they remotely manage to invent new ways to play RDR through updates and events, I see myself spending hundreds of hours in RDR2. Something I've yet to do with a Rockstar mp game.

Easy Allies makes mistakes like this all the time. Thats why they have a section of their podcast literally dedicated to Corrections.

Anyone who thinks the media doesn't have info on Red Dead the week of judges week is naive. Anyone who also thinks EA is not amongst the most respected in the Playstation community needs to watch their stuff.

With that saidI think that comment was intended for a small number of people if intended at all.

We're talking about the release date. That's key info the press doesn't usually get. You're naive for believing they do.

Same with Giant Bomb. Well, one coast of them. The other one makes no mistakes!

People have said that release dates have been given away at E3 judges week before, they do get that info. However, specifically for Rockstar, I doubt it's happened.

Sure, some do. And of course print magazines get that stuff even earlier for their magazines. But for bigger games and especially Rockstar this is highly unlikely.

I remember many times when Jeff Gerstmann watched the E3 pressers and didn't know the release dates before they were announced. That's highly sensitive information.

I really hope Brandon didn't share anything from the E3 judging with the guys. That will ruin the reactions.

TakeTwo doesn't even participate in the public-facing part of E3. I have no idea why they would be showing off a game at judge's week, let alone telling everyone there its release date.

You don't think Red Dead is at judges week?

No. TakeTwo does not typically unveil games at E3, or have new gameplay demos there. Maybe they are doing things differently this time, but previously they have a pretty hands-off attitude towards E3. As in, their booth might not even have demo stations for unreleased games. It might not even have demo stations at all.

He won't be.

RDR2 isn't releasing until 2018. Not a chance this year.

Your level of confidence is completely ridiculous. No one on either side of the release date debate can speak with any kind of authority. There absolutely IS a chance that it will release in 2017.

Even if the game is finished by September/October, I think they may take a look at the busy holiday release schedule and decide it might be better to release in Spring or Summer of 2018.

That's definitely possible. Like I said, I was responding to the guy who said there is no chance it releases this year. It could go either way and there absolutely is a chance.

If I had to guess, I actually do think it will be this Fall.

Yikes

he sounded pretty damn sure of what he was saying and if it was at e3 it would surely be playable and therefore at judges week
(Keep in mind this is the first proper public e3 so it isn't unreasonable that rockstar would make surprise unveil)

Lol
Rockstar does not give one single fuck about when any other game releases

I don't know. Usually Rockstar doesn't care about the press unless it's GameInformer. Even if it was at judges week, why would they tell the press the release date and risk leaks at this point?

lol. more like other publishers will see RDR releasing in the holiday and move to next year

The only reason the game will get delayed is if its not quite ready, not because of other releases lol

People just really don't know this industry at all at times and are ready to believe whatever.

I mean I'm not going to act like I know *anything at all* about the industry and this was still ridiculous that people believed it lol.

Rockstar is such a secretive company that doesn't care at all about any press outlet but Game Informer. This story was just weird. And even after Brandon clarified his mistake people still stuck to it.

I tried to tell them but they wouldn't listen.

Did someone actually believe Rockstar of all people would give the release date of Red Dead Redemption 2 to some niche people with 100k youtube subscribers?

The delusion in here gets too absurd sometimes.

IGN has 8 million Youtube subscribers and Call of Duty and Minecraft sell millions of copies year after year.

Stop pretending the gaming industry is NeoGAF, Bloodborne, Nintendo Switch and Giantbomb.

It was during E3 judges week, so the implication was that everyone there, including the massive IGN as well as the small time Easy Allies, was told.

Only if one believes judges week means the press gets every piece of info. Which just isn't the case.

I mean heck, why did people believe Red Dead 2 would be there to begin with? Rockstar doesn't need the E3 Awards.

No, I know and I agreed with RDR 2 not being there. But I don't think anyone bar a small minority thought that EZA were specifically given the hot scoop, which is the "delusion" part I was replying to.
