World of Warcraft |OT9| People still play this? Isn't it from 2004

Grats! How long were y'all on Eli prog for?

My eRT said 56 pulls or so. It was only like 2.5 full raid nights. But it was spread out over a couple weeks due to some slowdowns clearing the rest of the instance. This week though we cleared all of farm in one night really fast. Now we have a full day to work on Gul'dan on Monday.

Not sure if we're gonna extend till he's dead or what though.

You may have luck calling customer service and offering up personal information.

This. They'll do all kinds of shit with sufficient proof of identity.

Hell, I regained access to my 10 year dormant EverQuest account by sending customer service a picture of my cd cases with all of the product keys for the first 3 releases after I had no access to literally ANY other information about the account. And that's Daybreak, a company with shit CS.

Is there some sort of trick to finding the Wyrmrest Caches for the campaign quest this week? Have yet to see a single one on either of my 110 characters...

I think you meant Blood Death Knight and Vengeance Demon Hunter for self-sustain. Paladin's strength is its tool kit, and Guardian Druid benefits from high armor plus a stupidly good magic mitigation tool. Warriors are so-so for solo content, their thing is really mobility and good old blocking.

I thought Prot Pali's had a pretty chunky self-heal (like 30% of their missing health) on a relatively low CD.

Yea as CarbonatedFalcon said, a whole ton of them all spawn at once, so you'll either find like 7-10 in a minute or none at all. Just idle somewhere in the broken shores until you see chests pop on the minimap, then go collect all you can.

Random aside, but I've seen a bunch of people saying they're having issues with this week's quest, which is kind of weird to me. Do people not loot the chests normally when doing Broken Shores WQs? I just randomly find a bunch of chests most days doing WQs there or killing rares (especially with Mage Tower up), and they give a nice extra bump of nethershards, legionfall supplies and dauntless tokens for literally no extra effort to loot them, so I always grab them when I can. And at this point I think I know by heart every spawn point, and I've never actively tried to farm them. Do people generally just ignore them on the minimap when they're up?

I thought Prot Pali's had a pretty chunky self-heal (like 30% of their missing health) on a relatively low CD.

Yea its 32% of missing HP (38% standing in conc) on a 12 (8 if talented, which it nearly always is) second CD. But pallies are kind of designed around spiking low and healing up, so their self sustain falls off a bit as content gets harder and you can't let your life get as low. The only healers that really have "self-sustain" in the sense of "my healer is AFK and I still probably won't die" are Blood DK and Veng DH, all the other tanks healing/absorb can supplement their survivability but won't allow them to live without any outside heals indefinitely.

Can everybody loot the chests at the same time or is it locked to one person? I haven't attempted the quest yet and I've only found two chests since I've started playing the new content last month.

Up to 5 people can loot the chests which disappear 10 or 15 seconds after the first person looting it, if i'm remembering the changes correctly.

I made 360k gold gambling with my guild tonight, the majority on that was a big balls 1m gold bet that I won.

In other news, the Demo warlock artifact challenge is extremely tough. Can I be a wimp and wait for tomb gear to do it or will it scale

Trying to decide if it's more worth to transfer my level 100 Shaman that I don't play, or my secondary DK (that's 110, over my original DK that's still 100) in order to make room for a Paladin.

Hmmm.

Curious, I've just noticed on the ingame calendar that next week's Cataclysm timewalking is scheduled Tuesday-Tuesday - here in Europe. We do all our weeklies Weds-Weds. Wonder if the calendar's wrong, or if this Timewalking has been misplaced.

Out of all of those PVP world quests that rotate throughout a day, Darkbrul Arena seems to rarely show up. Seems like it's the ones in Azsuna and Val'Sharah most of the time. Really annoying.

Finally i unlocked flying..that was a long long road phew. Right now going to play some Balance Druid, something different for the moment.

Edit: well then i just got my second legendary just by doing a normal heroic and for my balance spec Oneth's Intuition

OI is really good in Nighthold and most mythics. They're changing Emerald Dreamcatcher again so OI is looking even more attractive as an all purpose legendary.

Am i the only one that thinks the Broken Isles have the best questing experience in this entire game? I love the zones and the quests. I hate hate hated most the earlier zones.

I enjoy going through Highmountain and Val'Sharah but I'm not a fan of the other zones.

Warlords of Draenor, on the other hand, I thoroughly enjoyed each zone. Same with Mists of Pandaria.

TBH questing has been designed as a primarily linear, "cinematic" story experience for the past few expansions. It gets boring doing it more than a couple times because you're pretty much forced down the exact same path. Legion only really gives an illusion of choice, since you still mostly have to do at least most of 2-3 of the zones still, even with invasions helping out.

Highmountain and Aszuna are my least favorites though out of the Legion stuff.

davepoobond

you can't put a price on sparks
For my priest I'm just doing an invasion every now and then and follower do missions and I'm already 104. Just going to bother with the class-specific quests.

I enjoyed HM for the most part. But, in this game linear questing is better. I want a clear line of progression. I hate just randomly doing random quests. I hated most the "vanilla" zones with a seething passion because, they were all just randomly going from place to place with no clear direction. Like why am I doing all this?

Mage tower artifact skin hype! Was really disappointed to get Prydaz and Roots as an enhance shaman, but I don't think I could finish that scenario without them.

Yep. Blizzard just continues to get better with designing zones and questlines.

Since Friday afternoon I've leveled a Hunter from 75 to 90 questing. I have 8 110's and the Loremaster title. So I think I'm qualified to speak to this. The questing has been superb in all of the past 3 expansions, but if I'm going to talk about my favorite zones from a questing standpoint, it won't be from any of them. They'll be Vashj'ir, or Dragonblight, or Silverpine Forest. Though I have to give a shout-out to the mantid quest line in the Dread Wastes, which was really well done.

Compared to the long, dramatic arcs that we saw even in Draenor, I wasn't too happy with the lack of focus and continuity in Legion. Only Suramar felt like it had any cohesion, because you had the Meredil vs. Suramar City theme holding it together.

Suramar is one of the best questing zones i have ever played, the lore and storytelling is really really great. My favorite from the other zones would be Val'Sharah and Azsuna (love the emerald nightmare giving a glimpse of both nightmare and the dream, but dreamgrove for druids enhances even more at least to me).

Overal questing has been more fun than ever...WoD was okish it focused to much on Garrison stuff but i am happy how far we are now.

The terrible questing in Old WoW dear lord i will never do that again, people harking back old wow was good..when i think of it sure it was fun sometimes but leveling? Even doing 40 person raids or 25 man dungeons? Oh hell no not ever again.

Draenor had really good questing, but it was marred by a godawful end-game. Legion is almost the polar opposite. The leveling experience is bewildering at best, but the endgame is 20x better than it has ever been before, from the perspective of stuff to do that isn't just raiding.

Most of the old zones are better now that they were revamped for Cataclysm. If it were easier to get between them, they would get more play and would be appreciated more. As it is, you can spend as much time running from one end of the continent to the other, as you would doing the 5 levels through dungeons instead.

The Runeseer in the artifact challenge is so aggravating - he sometimes just refuses to follow me and ends up just standing in fire forever so I can't DPS him.

Edit: Still beat it though, get fuuuuuucked

I think mop had the best questing, truth be told. Warlords and Legion aren't that far off, they follow kind of the same map as mop, but Warlords took it a step farther to FULLY linear (in mop you can hop to other hubs if you want, OR you can let it guide you, brilliant), and Legion goes a bit far the other way at times, as well as just not entirely having as interesting stories to me.

It's all about time and place though, the reality is you won't see the resolutions of most zones storylines (outside of vanilla/low level zones) until you do dungeons and raids and whatnot, which kind of cuts them off at the knees in some ways if the content isn't current.

For example, the whole Klaxxi storyline was fucking AWESOME, but it's got both rep gating (to awaken the paragons) AND requires you to run HoF, ToES, and SoO in order to fully appreciate what was going on with them. Killing the paragons in siege was epic and bittersweet because of all of the time you put in with them in Dread Wastes, but if you don't do any of that extra stuff your storyline basically ends at 'oh, the klaxxi seem to be in trouble and I woke like 2 dudes up.'

I mean, if it didn't require a month of grinding dailies maybe.

I also had to redo it THREE FUCKING TIMES from scratch because faction transfers were fucked on that at one point. Fuck the argent tournament.

Honestly I like at least some aspects of nearly all WoW content but I can't find a single thing I liked about the Argent Tournament, and I've "finished" it on 3 different toons. Worst dungeon and raid of WotLK, terrible dailies that send you across the map to pick up one item then come all the way back, horrible jousting mechanics "press 2 then 3+1, spam 2 until 3 is off CD again", a kind of cool quest line that had you going back and forth across the world to loot an item then come back, but with no big payoff at the end, and a HUGE amount of gating based on doing the same awful dailies every day. I guess the mounts were cool, but not one bit of the actual content ever felt fun, felt like doing chores every day. WoW rotations are simple enough, removing even that and giving me 3 buttons to press while jousting was super awful.

Hand of the protector scales with versatility and the trait and the t19 bonus, mine heals for 54% of missing health, also I have legendary helm and with it I tanked a lot of 10+ m plus without a healer.

Victory! I know have an azure drake! After farming Malygos for about 2-3 weeks!

And that's post-Cataclysm, you should have seen what Vanilla questing was like before that!

Some zones were pretty good. Tanaris was good, Ashenvale, Stonetalon and a few others were really well done.

I felt the opposite, was really disappointed with it. Other than HM, all zones were pretty terrible. No real story progression, everything just felt disconnected. Legion and Cataclysm had the worst questing, story, and zones imo.

I never really ever felt the looming threat of the legion while questing. Each zone has their own little story to tell which they should! But you don't ever really feel the overarching story of the Legion.

People called Romanes they go the house?

TBH, I think a part of that problem comes from the 'pick any zone' scaling, and thus not being able to institute a more central/recurring storyline.

Some of it is mitigated by the 'you're going into each zone to find X item' prompts, but they definitely needed more stuff for the Legion akin to 'going into helheim' quests or 'Ashzara makes an appearance' mini-scenes.

Yeah, there's stuff like that one highmountain tribe or god-kind skovald, but I don't even think you ever really fight that many demons in the actual zones.

And considering how many demons were supposed to be pouring out of the tomb at the start of the expac, that does seem a little odd.

Those are some of the most heavily revamped zones in Cataclysm ;)

Horde Stonetalon is actually awesome. I like progressing through the ranks and Garrosh seems like a cool ass warchief at the end.

I can tell lots of story's about it..but i can tell you with my warlock. I had to go each point be it in the eastern kingdoms or kalimdor to get my demons.

On foot..remember this before you got your first mount at level 40 and this was around level 20 to 40 at most going on foot everywhere.

The old questing..yeah glad it is no more when i think of it.

I think there is a LOT to be said for the more immersive, slower, more natural non-guided questing experience, where you're exploring a lot and meeting new people and stuff, but it's something that ONLY works when everyone is doing that together, or at least close enough together. That time passed 10 years ago, so it's good that they revamped classic to make it more modern.

Wow. Just saw someone in Stormwind on Sargeras US with the Scarab Lord title and this tabard http://www.wowhead.com/item=19160/contest-winners-tabard#comments

Don't think I've ever seen either before on the three servers I play on.

Yup those are very rare to see, lots of oldskool dedicated pvp players. Honoring those titles cost so much work back then.

Same thing i see someone with an Ahn'Qiraj battle tank from the opening of that raid..one of the most rare mounts in the game ever.

For me, the linearity isnt really an issue. I prefer the new style and I pretty much followed the same quest progression in the old zones anyway. I think the thing that has made Legion a bit more fatiguing for me to replay is that, thanks to World Quests and Mythic+, I've gotten a degree of exposure to these zones and dungeons that I never had before so even though I'm only working on my 3rd alt it feels like my 9th. Whereas before there were zones and dungeons I would only ever see when I was leveling up a character.

The Order Hall stuff does help a bit since they are unique to each class and its been fun to revisit old areas, which is why I hope they expand world quests to the entire world next expac.

Pretty bad, I got lucky.

It's dumb how there is such a huge variance between the ease of getting the skins. The Subtlety skin almost always drops if you complete the scenario and get a couple keys. Resto Shaman skin took months of waiting for the random drop in Eye of Azshara, I had the appearance unlocked by doing the 5 mans as Enhancement before I actually got it to drop. And just ask a druid why he is still running Emerald Nightmare in May '17.

I wish I had that kind of luck. I did the scenario 7-8 times and opened more than 22+ boxes, one time 6 boxes one after the other because I got lucky with key drops and yet I haven't seen the skin drop.

I got the Subtlety skin on my second box. Also got the Blood DK one on my first run through Withered Army Training. RNG gonna RNG.

But I still don't have the Guardian or Feral appearances, or the Elemental Shaman/Assassination Rogue drops from the Underbelly, or the Army of the Dead one for Unholy, the Eredar heads for Demo, or the Grimoire for Affliction, or any of the Warrior skins. Or the ones that require exalted reps like Holy Priest and Balance Druid though I'm working on it!
