I'm expecting Skyrim Switch to get pushed back alongside Bioshock Vita.

Seems kinda weird you said that as skyrim is shown the first time the switch is revealed.
and also shown on japanese conference as well.
and I also think skyrim will sell on this thing, some people want skyrim on the go

The Animal Crossing mobile App is scheduled for this Fall...it would make sense to believe that they will be launching it alongside the console game. So I bet that the big surprise will be Animal Crossing Switch for this Fall. I know part of the team behind it is working on Splatoon 2 but...

It's the same Producer but different teams. Completely different teams.

From what i hear, Smash bros might actually be a new entry and not a deluxe version.

Online play massively upgraded.

New levels, characters, campaign and "gameplay gimmick".

Don't be surprised if it doesn't release this year, but early next year.

December 2019: Xenoblade 2
In the US I imagine ?
Even then, when you consider how faster the localisation was with X compared to Xenoblade, Xenoblade 2 can easily come at worst, in the first half of 2018.
But a close to worldwide release is also not impossible at all after the first episode "success".

Nintendo might beginning to treat every first party the same way.

That would be sensible. Having a "massive" Switch title and a mobile title with cross compatibility would work well in modernizing Animal Crossing and giving it that next "big leap" beyond what we saw in New Leaf.

Aiii

So not worth it

missed opportunity for "big leaf"

Let's go with "my opinion" =) Don't be surprised if Smash bros has a lot more third party content due to collaborations with other companies.

It's becoming apparent that Smash Bros (and Mario Kart to some extent) are becoming a vehicle to popularise certain brands and let's not forget Amiibo.

Ubisofts Rabbid game? I'll leave that to you to figure out.

Don't worry. I was never going to be surprised to see Smash at E3. It always had a very good chance of being there.

Eh. I don't see it. Animal Crossing is a huge IP on its own. I think 2018 makes more sense for it.

March 2018 is my bet.. 3-4 months after the mobile game that will launch early december. They often launch a big title there to give a last boost on their fiscal year. Xenoblade 2 in february 2018 also wouldn't surprise me. And Smash as their may 2018 game, which will simply be called Smash Bros Switch and is an iteration over the Wii U version. Not a complete game, but an updated version just interesting enough to double dip. Might include a special singe player/co-op mode again.

That would make sure they keep selling hardware in the first half of 2018 with some big sellers.

Well, you already came out with the information so what characters do you would know that are in?

And what gameplay gimmick?

A period of 2-3 months with only 3rd party software during the first 9 months of the Switch? I don't believe they will do that.

That's an interesting point actually. FE Warriors will likely be published by Nintendo in the west but it seems like the Rabbids game is Ubisoft publishing. So that would be two non-first party published games (in some regions) for two months around the fall. I'm betting we'll see another couple first party titles announced for then.

If they really want to hammer down the Switch having a steady flow of quality software there needs to be a few more games in those months. Smash so soon after ARMS doesn't make all that much sense. I guess Pikmin on top of Pokemon Stars could work.

He's lying obviously lol

Oh well. At this point, I'm sure he wouldn't be back to back his fake leak. I just want him to be specific with his information because he posted his rumor in vague way so he can say, "haha I got it right."

I know he's full of it but it's likely we would see Smash at E3.

If it was a sequel, even early next year would be pushing it unless they used Smash 4 as a base.

I would say they still need one or both of these:
- A strong multiplayer title
- A casual game - 3D mario is not enough, all the other speculated games are way too core focused

Pokemon Stars could be that game, for both, although casuals don't often use the multiplayer functionality afaik.

If we go by Shikamaru Ninja's first party thread we can see which teams might be able to release something:

Bolded = the ones who might show something "new" (not announced) this E3
(I am aware that some of the EPD teams are flexible and aren't totally locked like other studios are.)
EPD1: Mario Kart Deluxe / ARMS
EPD2: Splatoon 2 / Animal Crossing Switch
EPD3: Zelda BOTW DLC / New smaller Zelda title
EPD4: this is interesting, as their last game was Mario Maker. They are often the 2D mario or pikmin team... I can see them having something this E3 (they didn't do mario maker 3DS btw)
EPD5: Helped with Starfox and Tank Trooper. Certainly on a new project. Manager of this team is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tadashi_Sugiyama
EPD6: Miitopia & 1-2 Switch - currently surely working on a casual title, but maybe too soon? Unless it's the Miitopia team led by Yuichiro Ito (brain training)
EPD7: I expect a new rhythm Tengoku from them. Could be this year as their last game was early 2016 and it are smaller titles
EPD Tokyo1: Hard to tell, did the louvre project for DS, might be on to something but I don't expect a big game surprise. Probably helping with Mario
EPD Tokyo2: Mario odyssey. I expect 2 player co-op announcement at E3. Maybe even online co-op. Pure speculation ofcourse, but the switch is made for 2 player games.
NST: No announced projects. Last was Mario Maker 3DS port - maybe Mario Maker Switch port? Or another game/port?
ND Cube Mario party team.. Mario Party switch?
Monolith Soft: Xenoblade 2.. That should keep them occupied.
Retro studio: Ofcourse, but I think 2018 is a safer bet for release.
HAL: 2 kirby 3DS games
IS: Fire Emblem, Fire Emblem, Fire Emblem (and maybe wario ware?)
Camelot: just did mario superstars, so unless they port it, I can't see them releasing anything soon
Game Freak: Let's assume Pokemon Stars ;)
Grezzo: Ever Oasis
Next Level games: Luigi's Mansion? Last game was the fan favorite Federation Force
Tantalus Media: They are rumoured to port another Nintendo game to Switch..

And then there are a lot of smaller unknowns who were usually making eshop titles or 3DS games, but aren't known for their big console releases:
Creatures: ???
Alpha Dream: ???
Arzest: ???
Chunsoft: ???
Genius Sonority: ??
Good-Feel: ??
Grounding: ??
Indies Zero: ??
Jamworks: ??
Jupiter: ??
Probe: ??
Skip: ??
Syn Sophia: ??
Valhalla Games: ??
Vanpool: ??
Vintei: ??

Other 3rd party collab teams include Namco Bandai (Smash) and Platinum (Bayo 3 ;) ), Koei Tecmo (Fire Emblem Warriors) and Ubisoft Paris (Mario & Rabbids kingdom Battle)

^ HAL is making two Kirby games for 3DS.

Not at all.

The game will use Smash 4 as it's base - there is no need to re do the engine. It already runs at 1080p/60fps.

However, the networking back end is being completely recoded.

I already hinted at characters that will make an appearance, hence the collab with Ubisoft.

AFAIK, the existing dlc characters will be making a return but i do not believe Ice climbers or the Pokemon trainer will be making a comback.

June: ARMS
July: Splatoon 2
August: Mario x Rabbids Kingdom Battle
September: Fire Emblem Warriors
October: Super Mario Odyssey
November: Pokémon Stars
December: Super Smash Bros. for Switch
January: Poochy and Yoshi and Kirby's Woolly World
February: Animal Crossing: Empires
March: Skyrim 2
April: Ultra Mega Man II
May: Puyo Puyo Puzzle League
December 2019: Xenoblade 2
XB2 that far off? lol

I wanted to say this from the other topic.

It's great to see Nintendo keep doing third party collaborations and one thing I've asked Nintendo over and over is to do third party collaborations with big western companies. They always do them with Japanese companies, but not so much with western developers. I hope Mario + Rabbids means there are other big western third party devs working on Nintendo games like Metroid (which I believe).

I was liking the sound of these (most likely fake) rumors until hearing this...

I completely forgot that we had rumors about a Smash port for this year. I would absolutely love to see that release in the early fall. If we get really get Zelda, Mario, Splatoon 2, Smash, MK8D and Pokemon in year one of the Switch then I'll be goddamn. I won't have any time for my other consoles...

Why not, there's no 3DS to hold the console version back.

A DX version of Smash 4 then... Just as everyone expects.

MK8 DX also has new networking code, since it now supports both LAN play and Switch vs Switch play.

e3 2013 "insider leak" all over again.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
From the ultra-reliable source of a fresh junior account with new proof.

That would be sensible. Having a "massive" Switch title and a mobile title with cross compatibility would work well in modernizing Animal Crossing and giving it that next "big leap" beyond what we saw in New Leaf.

If you have insider knowledge, then feel free to share. If you want to post your opinion, that is also fine and welcome.

It wouldn't be insider knowledge.

You all realize he was joking, right? His post was almost the exact format as the Smash Bros one.

No way there's already going to be a new Smash game ready, no WAY. And there's no way Nintendo wouldn't just re-use the Wii U game for the Switch the same way they did with Kart. I wouldn't be surprised if it had more new stuff (characters, stages, etc.) - but there's absolutely no way they're doing a new Smash and it's ready for anytime within the next two years even.

If they are making a new Smash, I don't expect to see it until 2019. Sakurai doesn't rush that shit, and he kills himself over these games.

AFAIK, Sakurai is the only person who actually decides these things.
Well I kind of see Sakurai as part of Nintendo, even if he's technically independent, and, even then, I'd say some choices in Smash are kind of questionable, such as the huge amount of FE characters, Smash Tour, Ganondorf being a Captain Falcon clone, etc

It seems like you have a problem with ARMS lol.

Like I only expect a trailer to show off new dlc and the tournament.

Edit: I hope they reveal a new Animal Crossing.

If it gets mentioned at all, it'll be for its first free DLC update.

Well they really shouldnt. The e3 direct one hour we have per year, it will be painful to see minutes of it being spend talking about ARMS... again.

it will be another Pikmin 3 situation, in which we had to listen about Pikmin 3 for 1 year of directs

(i hope they reveal a new Animal Crossing too
With less repeated text bubbles
And drop in drop out multiplayer both local (with two or more switchs) and online
And ELECTIONS! Imagine sharing a town with several people around the globe and you have ELECTIONS to decide the new mayor!)
