Far Cry 5 keyart revealed

So should I bother with the first Far Cry or should I start with 2 or 3?

First FC doesn't even fit the franchise anymore. Start with 2 if you want to see the rough, proto-Far Cry. It's incredibly interesting to see them testing out things out in what was a big budget title. 3 is the first time they settle into what the series is now.

I love how you have all those supposedly high powered weapons and knives around the most powerful weapon in the world, in the middle of the table.

I can't wait to play this. So much symbolism.

Just about everyone in that image has a weapon that can physically harm, but his is mental.

Call me interested, lot more than 4 at least. 4 seemed like 3 with a new coat of paint. This setting is at least not "tropical jungle paradise."

Oh my fucking god I don't understand why this is the first time in my life I'm seeing white people cry like babies over being the bad guys.

I feel like I just walked in to an alternate reality.

Now they get a taste of how the Russians must've felt during the 80s.
I've never heard Russians whine about it tho. Wait, there was no internet....

Thinking back on FarCry 3 and 4...

The fact the villains are the most likable and charming characters, opposed to the shitheads on the protagonist teams in both games might be something they want to try and break this time around.

Digging the concept and guess it will be ambitious with how it seems to be delving into themes that rarely any games outside of Bioshock Infinite have touched. It's anyone's guess how well it'll handle telling a smart narrative + character development or if it will drop the ball at some point like Infinite, but I'm interested to give it a rent and kill some white demons as long as the game design looks solid and isn't a repeat of Far Cry 3, BD, 4.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.

I don't think Ubisoft needs to do any heavy political commentary with this. It can just be a blockbuster game like the other Far Cry games but this time set in middle america with cultists.

Montana is perfect for a FC game, great wildlife and tons of astounding landscapes

And the game will be more obscure than your average crazy cult leader and his followers.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?

I was actually thinking about this myself. I couldn't stand most the protags of earlier games and their comrades sucked just as much. Hopefully that's not the case for this game but I didn't much care for the villains either so who knows.

Clearly you've never been through the wrong part of Indiana, Oklahoma, Kentucky, etc.

Kentucky has some rough parts where coal mining formed a strong part of the economy and has since broken down. Oklahoma might have some issues but I've never done more than drive through.

Indiana is mostly fine though. The majority of Indiana is pretty well spaced out and the overall political opinion is less "I hate minorities and gay folk" and more "Leave me the heck alone". The only particularly dangerous area of Indiana, for anyone, is Gary where overall poverty is supplemented by gang and cartel violence in one of the most unlikely places.

Edit: That said I grew up literally a fence away from one of the biggest religious extremist groups in Indiana. They were pretty much running off of lawsuit money from people "infringing their rights to protest" anything and everything but I think they made a misstep and ended up being the ones having to pay up so they all split.

I wouldn't be surprised if this keeps up the Far Cry streak of show-stealing villain considering the whole point of cults is that the leader is charismatic to the point of getting blind followers.
