For that contest I would write an LN about a future where all stories in all media are Isekai stories and how the hapless normal high school protagonist accidentally collides into a red-haired twin tailed tsundere, dropping a bunch of books from her bag which turn out to be stories she's written, except none of them are Isekai and are all weird genres instead, like high school romance or space exploration sci-fi or, god forbid, historical fiction.

Naturally she's ashamed of all this but our protagonist is oddly enamored with these strange, new stories of people who aren't sucked into weird high fantasy worlds against their will, and soon begins to consume them in earnest. In turn he'll soon turn his eye towards the strange writer as well. Thus begins the love comedy of the avid reader and the eccentric writer as they seek the path of enlightenment and look to revolutionize the stagnant entertainment industry they currently consume.

So I guess basically Shimoneta without the lewd?

Taking title suggestions now

Past two fridays, we had random videos, and someone posted Top Ten Funniest moments videos for animes.

And everytime they do, I feel deep shame of actually watching anime.

Like jesus, these things justify the negative impressions of fans given what they put in. Overused titty jokes, some down to the point that it's rapey.

Like come on. Some moments weren't even meant to be comedic. What the fuck are they doing in this video?

Doesn't help that two of these videos was pretty much a dude professing his love for Miss Kobayashi's Maid Dragon, all about TWO! TWO episodes that got covered to fill up half the fucking video, and not even in order of sequence!

Got more laughs from fucking Smile Precure.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Here's my Isekai pitch:

it's isekai, except everyone else isekai'd as well so it's basically the population of earth moved to fantasy world.

I say we need a reverse Isekai, where a hero gets transported to our world and becomes homeless and ostracized due to his lack of useful skills in society. It will be a psychological anime about the hardships of reality!

A story where every other guy gets transported away except the protagonist called "I thought I'd get to be the hero in my own isekai, but it turned out to be yet another harem comedy instead."

One of these days I'll read the Black Company. But after Malazan Book of the Fallen I've just been exhausted from fantasy novels for a while lol. As to Sandman, I honestly never considered that dark fantasy in the more traditional sense, but I guess that Gaiman does like writing his own modern version of it. Alongside American Gods, that's probably the genre he writes. Never grasped that.

edit: LMAO at The Scorpion King.

"I've read the novelization of the Scorpion King, it really is the epitome of the genre"

oh yeah forgot to mention the Vampire Hunter D books are more or less dark fantasy with a bit of pulp scifi here and there. Of course they're also pretty hit or miss.

- What in the hell is with these auras ? Are we in Hack x Hack ? Blergh.

- My melodrama meter is going crazy. An adult slapping a sick child. One love rival pretending she's already sleeping with her target to scare the other one off. (as well as deleting her calls) The other going not so slowly insane. At this point I won't be surprised, bah I'll be slightly dissapointed, if there are no chainsaws flying around in the last ep.

- So the mangaka-kun had enough presence of mind to try to find Miyako after he stood her up but not enough to you know, call her ? Weak.

All around meh with very uneven direction.

there's at least one tabletop setting where the premise is 'fantasy universe except randomised towns from earth history got dumped here and took over'

muslim elves fighting crusader orcs while people from more modern eras tried running around making sense of it all was the gist of it i think

My Hero Academia Season 2, Episode 9:

I will not lie, that was a damn impressive match and Ochako comes out looking like a big time starlet. Also helps that she is an actual underdog.

A Silent Voice

This has a lot to unpack but I don't intend to delve into the details much, I need time to think and perhaps rewatch to get a better understanding. It was certainly a story that interests me and I found evocative on multiple occasions. I had my doubts but I think my experience was better than I had anticipated right from the sequence with
The Who's song which establishes Nishimiya's younger self really well to the moment Nishimya opens up to everyone around him. Really the visualizations behind Nishimiya opening up to people was spot on
.

Some of the themes and moments reminded me of Colourful and Anthem of the Heart - I recommend checking them out if you liked this.

God that painful to watch, I had hoped it would turn out differently but damn. Still, the aftermath was worth it.

My Hero Academia 22

Wow that was intense, one of the strongest fight in the manga and they just went and made it even more amazing. The whole thing is also one of the point were my repesct for both Ochako and Bakugo went up a lot. Ochako sturdy determination and Bakugo's full respect to take her seriously even with the typical *if she's a girl you should take it it easy on her* thinking, shows us how great characters they are. Loved the comment he made post-match about her being anything but a frail girl. And man these explosion beautiful and amazing looking, but damn if I did not feel bad for Ochako :( Also glimps at one of Bakugo's limitation.
But damn that after-match...was just damn too much, that phone with the honest and hardworking Ochako voice-cracking while talking to her father, it was just too damn much and here I went crying lots myself. That damn little hand-shacking too. Ochako's as super great parents, we barely seem them and they seem to be the kindest people on earth. Man I love these guys.

Love the Deku and Endeavor little clash. It really brings into the final stage the whole encounter.
And damn was that Deku and Todoroki intrance hot! Loved the wind blowing in their hair with the dramatic fire!
+1 for the amazing Kirishima and Testsu armwrestling...never was it this intense!
+1 for best mom

NEXT WEEK IS GOING TO BE PLUS ULTRA PEOPLE! MHA is just too good.

That's basically Log Horizon. Not all of Earth's population, just the players of a single MMO, but that was still enough to fill multiple cities around the world.

if becoming an all powerful sword god who gets all the girls isn't doing it for you, introducing economics and ideas of politics is just as much a power fantasy, but you can feel like your degree is getting some use i guess

She lost?

Dropped.

Yea, I was hoping it'd at least be a draw given the way it was built up in the preview.

There's some interesting post/mid match commentary where a lot of them try to pity Ochako and antagonize Bakugo for hurting a "frail girl"; a line of thinking which some of them criticize. Bakugo out right denies her being frail.

They SOMEHOW managed to insert a Summer festival into my sci-fi show about interdimensions. Yukata and cheek blushes were included. It's also worth mentioning that this portion was entirely 2D for some reason.

Priorities.

While I wouldn't exactly say this show is great, I'd call it interesting. I'm curious to see how it'll end. My gut tells me humanity will embrace a higher level of existence while at the same time not being very exciting. Though, a part of me does wonder if humanity is being turned into a power source for the higher planes of existence. The whole, "if it's too good to be true" idea.

Dayyum... This year Kadokawa has banned ALL isekai or reborn in / transported to another world type stories and stories with teen protagonists in their Light Novel contests.

Looks like they have seen too many Endless Traaaaash~

So there's like 3 participants left?

GAF laments the lack of creativity in the light novel space by all making the same joke...really makes you think......

So the Madman finally shows up next week. I will watch.

Our shitty jokes aren't being published and made into anime though.

Not yet. Maybe that is the next genre. People complaining about Isekai and fighting among them.

"I loved konosuba!! It's better than Re:Zero"
"you little shit. I show you my true posting power!"

Good fight girl, but Deku needs to face his rival in the final round.
The next fight should be pretty awesome.

Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul - Ep. 8
Yeah, the fight was kind of shit, even though the idea was decent.
At least Favaro is back, so the anime should get more interesting from now on.

No. It's not good. Keep your distance from it.

It's good if you're interested in exploring the mechanics of fictional characters coming to life and what rules that follows. If you just want to see magical girls take on super power princesses or giant mecha the show doesn't have too much of that so far.

Strong first episode that devolved into boring, overly long exposition for a couple episodes and only got on an upwards trend the last 1 or 2 episodes again, now that all of the characters are assembled. I actually liked the concepts and ideas it presented during its exposition-stretch, but it was presented in the least interesting way possible and should have been half as long, or entirely scrapped and weaved into the story in a more natural way.
We'll see if it continues getting better today or if it'll shit the bed again.

The OP is great though.

Gundam IBO - S2 Ep. 5
Well shit, it's not looking good for them on earth. That kid was way too much burden on his shoulders and troops from mars don't arrive anytime soon either.
Things are about to get really ugly.

Went back and read some of the other takes on Silent Voice some pages ago, I partly agree with them but I'd argue that it's okay if the audience has to draw a few lines on their own, how much, is subjective as is with many other things about consuming art.

I've felt Silent Voice heavily banks on the audience's emotional investment to come off as compelling to an extent, that's a quality I do not dislike.
