Would you like the game more if no additional skins, etc, were ever made?
Does something being out there that you want but can't get hurt worse than that something not existing at all?
Or is it the random chance?
People who argue that it's just cosmetics seem to overlook the fact that Blizzard creates a desire and then cruelly withholds. That a person can spend $20 on lootboxes and get no skins but another person can get a legendary skin on the first free box they open.

but like, what's the point of coming if I play an event for 50 hours and still can't buy a single specific skin

also for the record I started this event at 1.2k coins which is more than a vanilla legendary, a week later and I'm at 1.6k. At the rate I'm getting coins I won't be able to buy a single skin even though I'll play the event for about 15 hours a week and had more coins than a regular legendary saved up beforehand
that's bullshit no matter how you cut it
Also still haven't gotten a single event skin, but I got an Orisa legendary so now my pity timer reset so it could be 25 boxes until my next legendary. Which could be a dupe, money (1/6 of a skin lol) or even just a default skin.

I've only gotten a couple purples so far - all dances for chars I hardly touch. I'll have enough credits for the Lucio skin if needed, and I guess that's it. The Genji and Hanzo skins really tickle me but I basically never play either. Definitely not worth spending any money on RNG for.

I've spent $10 on loot boxes since launch where I probably would have spent $100 if you could buy skins directly. But then again even on threads here, every event you see people posting "lol bought $300 of boxes" so it's little wonder.

The funny thing is what's going on with OverWatch and it's LootBoxes is completely opposite in say Paragon*

You have insane amount of different currencies/tiers
Problem that game is having is its currency, Reputation. It was supposed to be used to unlock Hero Mastery, cards, and used to buy slots (decks). You could use real money, but Reputation was a substitute with a grind behind it, but most players jumped so ahead of any reward curve introduced, that Epic is trying to catch up and it's still failing
Most rewards are in Loot Crates ($3 for Crate, $2 for a key, so $5 to gamble for Exclusive skins)
They, last year for Christmas sold a Mega Bundle where you could buy out the store, some did (store % discounted on what you had already), and earned bulk of the rewards
So most when did do Loot Crates, got hit dupes which if you already had turned into xp or rep Boosts.
XP people still use to level Heroes, but Reputation at the moment for I would say half the player base is fucking useless cause it's just keeps getting stockpiled and accumulating
They introduced 3 day chests you could level up to different tiers and reward chests for certain things and still 95% of the time it's just more Reputation, which nobody except the new players need
(They're working on a Reputation store/sink and deplete people's stockpiles)

Dupes in a game like this are bullshit. Should give items from a pool you don't have. Or hell, at least give more gold.

Without counting events I dont think we ever get Legendary skins or special emotes outside Laugh and Stand being released.
That was me plus Tracer's anniversary skin. (I never play as tracer.)

About 14 loot boxes so far and I have only gotten a single dancing emote and zero skins. Oh, but they have been nice enough to give me Widowmaker's gold player icon FOUR TIMES. All but 3 boxes have been white white blue white and four boxes have been nothing but dupes. I MIGHT have enough gold by the end to get a single skin.
This shit should have been fixed months ago and all these Anniversary items should have been added to the regular rotation at regular prices.

Earned about 5 or 6 more boxes since the start of the event. No legendary.
Popped in the game today. Leveled up. Got a legendary. Was excited. Then I saw it was a duplicate.
I laughed maniacally and shut the game off.

I got two Lucio event legendaries in back-to-back weekly arcade boxes last night. I guess I should be happy, but I didn't even want it and the RNG on these things is completely screwed.

I somehow managed to get Lucio, Tracer, and Symmetra's anniversary skins across two consecutive loot boxes. Lucio is my most-played character and I never touch Tracer or Symmetra so his is the only one I really cared about. But this probably means the universe will only grant me emotes, sprays, and dupes for my next ten loot boxes XD

And I usually farm events (and buy some crates - they were SUPER disappointing this time: bought 10 and got 1 legendary... nomad Genji).
Opened about 25 crates, I got ZERO event skins and just Orisa dance.
Not gonna touch the game anymore if they don't sort this crap.

I don't get why the dance emotes are event exclusive. There really is no good reason why they shouldn't be in normal boxes. What's the difference with these and the sitting emotes? Most of them aren't even that good.

I don't see why during events Blizzard couldn't: suspend normal legendaries, prevent duplicates. Two simple steps to keep your fans happy and I really doubt would dent their bottom line that much.

what are the odds that the new law in China caused this event to feel worse? I always believed in the past that boxes were weighted during events; limited skins seemed to drop a lot more frequently than regular legendaries.... but with Blizz being forced to display odds, can they now not just change it on the fly for an event?

Loot box rates have gotten worse and worse for me lately. I swear, during the Uprising event I got the same damn Winston Peanut Butter Victory Pose every other loot box.
Speaking of, I don't understand the dupe exchange rate for legendaries. Regular legendary skins cost 1000 credits, and dupes for those give you 200 credits, which seems fair. But event legendary skins cost 3000 credits, yet dupes for those still only give you 200 credits????? What kinda bullshit...

Every Anniversary Legendary I get (which is rare on its own) is the same damn Zarya duplicate and its driving me nuts.
I mean it didn't happen for the olympic or halloween or china boxes but I was lucky enough to get them all (think I don't have D.va and one other one) so... maybe?
Edit: And I did get a dupe of Zarya's as well
