Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition |OT| Two girls, one motivated Vergil

This leak aligns with some earlier leaks suggesting Dante will be in the roster w/ his DMC5 costume along with some of his previous outfits.

Capcom would've need to be incredibly stupid to not include Dante in MvC:I. This MvC:I leak doesn't tell us anything new in regards to a possible DMC5, imo.

We'll have to wait and see which Dante is in MvC:I before we can say more about him. If he is sporting a new and unfamiliar look then that's most likely his DMC5 design. But I don't see them showing off his DMC5 attire before announcing that game.

Would be even funnier if they brought Drew Coombs back and had him scream "I'll fill your dark soul with LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!" for his super.

I'd assume it's DMC5 Dante, whhich probably is DMC1 Dante with DMC1 coat and weapons..

I was just surprised that you wanted to have an old outfit and weapons in DMC5 instead of having new ones like every other entry.
Well we have had rebellion for 3 games, with 2 games having similar movesets for it,why not reinvent classic weapons? And we always get a gauntlet weapon (not DMC 2 lol)..I just think since RE7 went back to classic horror, DMC Dante will go back to his classic look for nostalgia and what not.

Rebellion and E&I are staples now for Dante that won't change.

Hell even in the DMC anime which has the DMC1 outfit he uses Rebellion.

His costume will probably change though.

Second best song that is DMC related... is the theme song from the anime. It's damn good. I would get hyped if they played that for the DMC5 trailer too.

The thing is that RE "lost" its way
(I personally loved the action RE ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
and they had to go back to its root. That's not the case with DMC tho. They were going in the right direction with DMC3 and DMC4 (even if the game was half finished) so with DMC5 there is no real incentive to go down the nostalgia route. At least not with the weapons and outfits in the base game, they can sell them later as DLCs.

Of course, having Dante means having Rebellion and E&I, but other than those, they have the freedom to do whatever they want with him.

RE7 is one of the best things to come out of Capcom in forever and actually pushed the horror genre forward.

I don't give a crap about horror games but putting personal prejudices aside... Capcom did exceptionally well with RE7. RE7 not performing isn't an issue with the quality of the game but rather the demographics and the fact that action>>>> horror when it comes to video game sales.

RE7 makes it look like two different Capcoms exist.

People felt DMC lost its way with DMC4 having a lackluster campaign with Dante's levels being Nero's in reverse. Hell Nero barely had any weapons. I remember back when reboot was revealed some people were glad that DMC was getting a make over (not me). Like I think DMC4's setting was a departure from the gothic overtones of DMC1 and the horror vibe of DMC3. Felt so plain and sterile in comparison.. So going back to that and drawing on that nostalgia of first game might be the way to go. DMC1 with DMC4 combat.

I agree. I really liked RE7 and wasn't trying to say that it's bad or anything. Just that RE prior to RE7 was in a different position, than DMC is right now before DMC5.

I think most of the problems with DMC4 came from the fact that it wasn't finished. Like, we have no way of proving this of course, but I think people wouldn't have had half the problems that they currently have with DMC4, if that game just had came out in a finished state.

But even if Capcom decides to go back for nostalgia, I think DMC3 would be much better pick. After all that's the game that put the super crazy action stylish sub genre on the map.

Even if they're heavily trading on 1 or 3 nostalgia, that doesn't mean they're going to repeat the actual costumes and and such (outside of alternate costumes and DLC, of course) instead of just referencing them with the new designs.

Though I could definitely see Vergil use his 3 appearance as the default yet again if/when he shows up...

And a samurai style long hair.
changing your haircut and growing facial hair are good visual shorthand for showing that you've changed while you were offscreen, and to the extent that Capcom wants to use character design to tell a story to some extent (not really what they've historically done with DMC) it'd be a wise idea

Beard, long hair (exactly like the pics that Sesha posted) and having only one eye.

Make it happen Capcom.

P.S: I just realized that young Majima (my avatar), already has two of those features. Hah.

*Sticks head in*

So, what's the hype level in here right now since E3 is coming?

It's difficult to muster any real hype at this point, we've been hurt too many times.

I'm excited in a "might happen but probably won't, there's always TGS and next year" kind of way.

I'm in that cautious E3 but maybe TGS kind of hype.

Honestly if DMC5 doesn't get announced this year, I don't think it's happening

I think it is most likely happening but they started working on it a lot later than we all expected.

In a way it's pretty impressive that they let someone of Itsuno's caliber waste away for so many years until letting him dive back in with DMC4SE. Capcom gonna Capcom.

Just 11 days away from Sony's presser, still no leaks. The RE7 rumor from Serkan Toto was on May 17th. Although somehow the lack of random rumors pre-E3 for once seems more right.

Vergil with long hair would be cool. Something like this would be badass.

No. I don't trust Capcom with re-designs after Akuma in SFV.

60% chance at E3, 70-80% chance at TGS, 100% chance by PSX.

That's too low mang. They gotta have Dante MVCI and DMC5 announcement together for maximum hype.

Monster Hunter...

MHXX Switch is already announced. Also with their projections for Japan being down the second year in a row, while projections for US and Europe being up I doubt their mystery big title is another Monster Hunter. Could be something other than DMC5, but definitely not MH, unless Capcom has gone mad(der) and expects a new MH to sell like shit in Japan.

Team Itsuno is not the SF team, though.

I'd say the chances at TGS are lower. After the last 2-3 years I can't see something like DMC5 at TGS as more likely than at E3.

Someone said in the thread that Capcom has done back to back monster hunter announcements. Unless we get a leak im not going to get on the hype train yet..

To be fair, though, I can emphasize with the plight. When even the likes of Kobayashi's "B-tier" franchises like BASARA can't or won't afford to keep good artists like Tsuchibayashi (who also did work for DMC) around, and stuck with a guy who had no business designing main characters, it doesn't exactly instill a lot of confidence in Capcom's artistic directions now-a-days.

I'd love to be proven wrong, though.

Yeah, but that was advertising MH4 right after 3G/3U, which were both on the 3DS, and was a good way to get that audience ready for what was the future of the franchise at that point.

Not quite the same thing here.
