The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind |OT| Why walk when you can ride?

Seems to me that the main narrative up until now has been as follows:
Char gen > Coldharbor tutorial > MAIN QUEST + Alliance-specific subplots and regions > Coldharbor zone + climax

With the only changes from character to character being the Alliance-specific subplots and regions (admittedly, the bulk of the gameplay so far). How does the Morrowind expansion work, then? Does it replace the MAIN QUEST with something new? Is it effectively a fourth alliance and set of regions that all new toons follow for the extent of the primary narrative? None of the above?

What does this mean for folks like me, that are knee deep in their main quest already? I imagine I'll continue as-is and can start up the Morrowind events at my leisure by porting or boating into the Morrowind region. Like the other DLCs...

Morrowind is pretty much like a DLC like Wrothgar. On an existing character travel there and get started whenever you feel like.

As far as I can tell all new characters get the Morrowind tutorial (Which is short and decent). I haven't tried it yet but from what I hear once a new character leaves Morrowind something plot related happens and they end up in Coldharbor to start the main quest. Not sure what though.

I played this on PC when it first launched and it never grabbed me. I picked up a cheap copy when it launched on PS4 (Got the deal to transfer my stuff over) and it never grabbed me. I started playing again a couple of weeks ago on PS4 and it grabbed me hard. Yesterday I was watching some streams and I'd forgotten just how good this looked on PC so I've dumped all my PS4 progress and gone back to PC :) Started a Warden last night. Lost about 20 levels of nightblade and 30 levels of sorc. Ah well :)

That's interesting. Thanks for the details. Sounds like, for new players, the Morrowind stuff starts off almost like an appended prologue. Guessing you wind up captured and executed so that you can start your journey as a proper Vestige.

I just watched it on Youtube. It's quite nice how they do it.

After you leave Morrowind you get a quest to meet a benefactor over a matter that could effect the fate of the world. You go there and get jumped, taken to an altar and sacrificed to Molag-Bal. You wake up in the prison in Coldharbor.

Amazing. I expected a cheap gotcha-and-fade-to-black before spawning in Coldharbor.

I played a bit of ESO last year, it was okay.

Problem is, I know that I'd end up just playing modded Morrowind after an hour of trudging around the MMO version.

Just picked up my CE at EB Games today. Even though I have been playing it since early release, I'm still excited to get home and play more.

Interestingly though, it looks like Prima Games put out a strategy guide for Morrowind - seems odd, I wouldn't think it would sell too well given that this is an MMO, and an expansion at that. Looks like its a Collectors guide that contains a code for an in game pet too along with a free digital copy of the guide.

I have my issues with this expansion and with ESO in general, but it's good to be back on Vvardenfell. Really enjoying the Warden class, though the much hyped bear summon seems like kind of a waste of an ultimate.

So if you buy Morrowind you get the base game and it's expansions and Morrowind? Or just the base game with Morrowind?

Just the base and Morrowind. The DLC (4 of them) can be bought for $40 or come with a subscription

Edit. Alternatively, Target has the gold edition for $30 and that comes with base and DLC. You need to buy MW upgraded separately.

So how is this game doing? I never hear anything about it anymore. I guess I should just read through this thread lol. My friend and I are considering jumping in, I've never played an MMO tho.. but i really enjoyed past elder scrolls games.

Not sure how it's doing but it's a one time fee and me and a friend jumped in on it and we both think it feels like playing other ES games but with other people around. It doesn't feel like most other MMOs in that sense.

I have always wanted an ES game with other people around. Feels just right to me.

Somewhere at the point of starting this game months back I actually lost the trail of the main scenario. I have been doing random quests. I should probably do a Google search to get myself back on track. I'm not even sure when I will get to Morrowind. So many quests.

I played this all last night, keep bouncing between my main which is a Nord Dragonknight, but of course I wanted to create a Warden as well, so I went with a Bosmer Warden. Still early days for the Warden so Im getting the hang of this new class, but it is certainly an adjustment going from a Nord to Bosmer - just the visual difference alone. I hadn't realized how short the Bosmer were overall.

I play primarily on PC but have a copy of the PS4 version as well that I boot up from time to time - One thing I have been unclear on is the implementation of pro support - I have a 1080p TV and I know there is a 1080p enhanced mode on Pro, but I don't see any spot to enable it? Does the game automatically enable it based on the TV it is outputting to? Or do I need a 4K TV to enable any of the Pro benefits?

Bug apparently. It defaults to 4k downsampled and the option to switch it to 1080p enhanced mode (Water reflections etc) only appears if you connect it to a 4k display. Been like this since the pro patch as far as I can tell.

See my post on the first page. (Quoting for ease)

Are you only a 1080P set?

If so, there's, well, depending who you want to believe, a bug with ESO or an issue with Sony regarding Pro features on 1080P sets. If you only have a 1080 set, there's no way to actually turn on the Pro features (if you go to video options and don't see a setting for 1080 or 4K, it's not working right).

The second post here has a workaround that I can confirm works: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.co...isplays#latest

You'll know 1080P E is working because water reflections will be on.

I can't confirm if the game does downsample on just a 1080 set. My impression, based on the good ol' eye test, is that it does not downsample.

Oh I totally missed that, thanks for pointing it out.

Yeah same here, it certainly does not appear to be any different than the base PS4.

So is Morrowind just an unlock code, then? 'Cause that's the size of the game on my HDD now, and my copy of Morrowind hasn't arrived yet.
It seems that way for sure. My game was patched up with the Morrowind patch before I put my code in from the store, putting the code in seemed to just unlock the access.

That's actually awesome as hell: I just started a new char and am deep into the main quest now (about 20 hours), kind of wish I did the Morrowind stuff first now lol.

I really like how ESO has evolved since vanilla, playing on a controller on my 4K tele is a godsend....combat feels amazing on controller (on PC), they have done an amazing job with the UI and stuff too: so much thought has gone into it!! (I used to use a half ass x-padder profile before in vanilla....was average to say the least!).

Stoked to be an ESO head again, this Destiny 2 and Paragon have my long term gaming obsessions covered for a while it seems.

On a Guild side note: I'm a member still of NeoGAF guild but it's a ghost town....is there a current active guild for GAF? (NA)

Lets talk about that spider mount....

I have just recently logged into the ESO world (had me a healer sorc up to lvl 50 just prior to Morrowind) so I dont quite know how stuff works round here.

I will say that I like that mount, so with that said is right now pretty much the only chance to buy it? and once its gone, its gone?

Also I know there are new Dwarven crates soon, what ate the odds or a good mount from them?

They still haven't fixed the glitch that locks 1080p PS4 Pro players out of the enhanced 1080p mode? Figured this would be the patch to clear up that oversight, if nothing else.

Usually the crates only have themed versions of the existing mounts (Horse, Wolf, Senche, Camel, Bear, possibly another I'm forgetting.. Guar?). I feel like the Spider Mount may be a specialty one but who knows. I had some crowns saved up so I ended up buying it. ^_^

Story is allegedly Zenimax and Sony pointing fingers at each other. Zeni may not believe it's their bug? Not sure.

It's a setting or menu that's missing from the actual game, not the OS, no? Should be trivial for Zeni to fix. A fucked up flag somewhere preventing the setting or menu from showing up, I would think.

Weird.

I already have an Orc that's like level 5 or something from the base game.
Is there any way to take him to Morrowind or do I have to create a new character?

I'm practically a new player to ESO but I guess that's obvious :)

You should be able to port over via warp stone and/or take a boat from a major city.

From the patch notes:

If using an existing character, you can do one of the following to travel to Vvardenfell:
Open your Collections, select Stories and then Morrowind under the Chapters tab. From there, you can accept the starting quest.
To get to Vvardenfell, seek out the navigator, Captain Jenassa, located near the docks in the major cities throughout Tamriel. Talk to her and she will offer to transport you to Vivec City or Seyda Neen.
You can also take a boat located in Mournhold, Wayrest, or Woodhearth.

If creating a new character:
Create a new character and select Play Tutorial. You will start in a new tutorial designed specifically for Morrowind players.
Alternatively, you can choose Skip Tutorial. Your character will automatically start on the dock at Seyda Neen in the new Vvardenfell zone.
