Tom Clancy's The Division |OT 3| Crafted From 150 OT 2’s

This was in SOTG yesterday, apparently 1.6.1 introduced a bug where an Exotic cache wouldn't drop. Should be fixed in maintenance.

I'm still not sure what the deal is and it's really hard to believe I haven't been able to get official word on when the reset day is for Legendary Missions/Exotic Cache rewards as I've heard every day from Thursday-Monday from different sources. Through elimination I know it isn't Sunday, Monday, or Thursday as the Exotic Cache still isn't showing as a reward for those activities.

I'm guessing it's tonight at 8:00 PM EST but we'll see...

I at least finally bought a quality headset for PC Gaming considering the amount of time I'll spend with The Division (gives me another option to get Ferro's Mask by being able to easily initiate a trade) and eventually Destiny 2.

Friday night / Sat morning depending on your time zone. Same as vendor reset.

Got a Warlord last weekend from my weekly cache, interesting gun. I want to like it due to it's high dmg and unique look but damn if it doesn't feel like it shoots slow as hell after getting used to mainly using a lightweight M4.

Looking forward to trying out the bullfrog someday though.

While this game can be a blast to play at times it still retains some simple issues that should be easily fixable.

Completed all 3 Legendary Missions and the Heroic Clear Sky Incursion last night. The first Legendary was Times Square in which all four of us received the exact same Exotic (Shortbow Kneepads) with nearly the same stats. Then I did WarrenGate and got a Liberator from the Exotic Cache which anyone can by at any time in the Hub. Next was Napalm which I got another Shortbow Kneepad from the Exotic Cache. Finally, I was rewarded with an Electronic Barret's Chest from Clear Sky which is useful in one of my builds but at this point I'm at 20+ Barret's Chest pieces and an ungodly amount of Shortbow Kneepads.

Please take out the Exotics you can buy from the reward loot pool as no one wants a Centurion from an Exotic Cache.

And would it be such a hard thing to do to give other Exotics more of a chance to drop than the ones you have gotten recently?

Ferro's Mask is nothing more than a myth...

While I agree, unfortunately they've said they won't remove exotics that can be bought from the vendor because the DMG and talents can be different each week as well as what drops from the cache. I'd sooner wait for a decent vendor roll and know I'm going to get an Exotic I'd more than likely want rather than seeing a purchasable weapon drop from the cache :(

Just built my first PC and super tempted to double dip on this. I feel like I need to experience the definitive version of The Division.

Also, I see Marcostyle is coming back LUL

Graphically since the Pro update I don't see much difference at all between flicking from my Pro to PC but 60fps is heavenly lol

I still look forward to getting a pro at some point but yeah, I was just thinking again today how nice 60 fps would be.

Considering Massive talks up Legendary Missions as the most difficult activity in the game makes the reward system bogus from the getgo. I say remove the Exotics from the Hub vendor to the Underground vendor, create a Legendary difficulty for Underground Ops, create an Exotic currency rewarded for completing phases on Legendary difficulty for purchasing rotating weekly Exotics (like a selection of 5 from the entire Exotic pool each week) from the vendor.

This gives the Underground new meaning and life as an activity.

I can attest that playing at 60 FPS is worth it alone for this title.

Massive is not even going to E3.

Massive wouldn't need to be there for a dedicated trailer or one that highlighted Ubisoft's franchises (old, current, upcoming).

That said, I can't imagine Ubisoft spending much time on a free update for The Division during their conference. Maybe a quick vague preview of what's to come in 1.7/8 part of a larger trailer spanning all games under the Ubi umbrella.

I don't know why Ubi would waste valuable stage time at E3 for what is, essentially, patch notes.

1.7 is supposedly bringing more than fixes to the table and 1.8 is supposedly a significant content/activity update so I'd say that's more than "patch notes" but no I don't think they'll spend much time (if any) on it. Maybe a vague preview in a highlight reel/teaser of sorts as part of trailer spanning multiple Ubisoft franchises.

1.7 is bug fixes and no matter how big the 1.8 update is... talking about those features is really no different than a patch note feature. It's not new expansion and it's not a new game sku... so why waste all those eyes on it when it's not going to make them significant money. E3 presentations usually reserved for building hype for things companies want people to buy.

A Division 2 announcement would make sense (but I think that's at least 2 years off at this point due to how much attention Massive is still giving Division now)... but showing patch features at all just seem like a waste.

I think at most we see some generic Division gameplay in a highlight reel. Maybe a mention of "Our hit series The Division" in an "our accomplishments have been great" type of speech.

1.7 is bringing Global Events and Commendations among other stuff and is not just "bug fixes" and 1.8 is being described as bigger and better than any of the paid expansions to date so it's more than "patch notes" and fixes, obviously.

These updates clearly aren't your run of the mill game updates that merely fixes stuff.

I dunno. One ETF guy said its like The Divisions "Taken King". I guess we'll see.

I've heard there's some great things in the pipeline as well. However it's not going to be monetized. I'm talking about the business side of utilizing E3 time effectively. Advertising New IPs and new Skus makes more business sense than advertising a free patch for a game that's constantly being put on sale.

1.7 has already been discussed by Massive and the community at large was severely underwhelmed by it. It's not worth E3 time. The features and content of 1.8 hasn't even been cemented yet. That ETF and all ETF's are primarily brainstorming sessions and Focus Groups. The ideas are big but they specifically NDA everything because they know full stop that all of the stuff they're conceptualizing doesn't see full realization in game and if it does, it doesn't make it in in a timely manner.

I've heard the impressions of ETF members and they seem excited for what was discussed. However I don't see how any of it would be viewed as positive enough to translate into sales.

If The Division was as big as Siege, maybe. But it's not. So I don't see it.

Ubi could have a 10 min block talking about how great their post launch support is and include Siege and Division content updates in there. Who knows?

I'm not sure what you are trying to drive home here as I already posted multiple times before your initial post on the topic that Ubisoft is unlikely to spend much time on a free update for a 15 month old game other than maybe a small teaser of what's to come in a larger all-encompassing Ubisoft branded video.

1.7 being talked about at E3 was never the topic but rather the fact that it was more than just "bug fixes" was, for me.

I still enjoy this game and was excited to hear about 1.7 and more so 1.8. I'm guessing July/Aug for 1.7, and then Sept/Oct for 1.8? Fair guesses ya think?

I read an article recently that stated 1.7 was slated for late July or early August and that 1.8 was expected sometime this fall or early winter.

I'm going to guess July for 1.7 and October for 1.8.

lmao. you should have seen my face when i got a ferro mask from one of my caches, and two at that!!. now i'm playing last stand running all around the fire baby. lol

i'm basically here to rant about the last fucking game i just played in LS.
Now i like killing as much as the next guy but when no one's is even trying for he obj it gets annoying.
I just played against a group i think 3 or 4 of them were in a party, my side started off good, killing and getting objectives. right until 5 mins before buddy spawn activated, these guys in the party literally set camp at our home base and one of them was rocking final measure. i kill one 2 kill me (and that one spawns right back on his friend), i try to kill i die, grenades nada, i kept running round reactivating base turrets(which they destroy easily) just to stay alive, i was the only one trying to get our base back up the rest were hunting easy kills at B! i mean your fucking base is in enemy control, no one bothered to come back, i could tell they weren't dying cause they'd spawn at home.

Till the end of the game i swear i could hear the guys in the party mocking me and laughing.

TBH, i'm not even annoyed at them heck i wish i was in their party lol.

edit: i wish they were separate game modes or something, capture, TDM, blah blah(fuck narrative massive) but then i dont think there are enough people still in the game to populate lobbies.
and the DZ currently? lol. get a manhunt run to dz6 glitch into the building by midtown music

Yeah sweet, I'd be happy with that. Fingers crossed 1.8 is as juicy as people have implied.

The sad part is I got a Ferro's Mask a long, long time ago on Xbox but I don't really play The Division there anymore after experiencing it at 60 FPS and all that on PC so it really torments me. I mean anytime you catch fire now you are literally on fire and out of the fight for 10 seconds making this piece of gear really useful to say the least especially with Seeker Mines being so prevalent.

Firewalker cometh! Ferro's Mask acquired.

It arrived as it should have, in the Exotic Cache reward from Napalm Legendary. Decent stats with 946 Armor, 1270 Stamina, All Resistance, and Burn Resistance.

I'll probably re-roll All Resistance to Skill Power.

Gonna fit nicely in my Assault build (400K DPS, 320K Toughness, and 200K Skill Power).

w00t finally! Decent stats as well thankfully.

So much for me giving this game up, had over 6 hours on it this morning. It's frickin crazy considering other games I've got in the cellophane but still load division up.

Got excited when I saw a weapon icon from my Times Square exotic cache but all hope of an MDR vanished when I got a Tenebrae lol

Have 5 awesome Loadouts now for different activities, when I get used to one it's rare I swap due to how much of a pain it was changing gear and mods etc so really like the loadout feature.

Yeah, loadouts is an amazing feature that this game desperately needed. Without it it is simply cumbersome enough to really put people off on trying new builds and experimenting a lot.

I have my Assault build which is based on Exotics/High-Ends that I can really use for anything but it is my go-to for Times Square Legendary. First Aid and Seeker Mines. Main Stats = 400/300/200

Then I have my Hybrid Reclamier (I call it Hybrid simply because it's more than a support build as it can dish out some DPS as well) which is my preferred setup for Napalm Legendary. First Aid and Health Station. Main Stats = 300/350/250

Next is my Hybrid Tactician (Hybrid = same as above) which is my WarrenGate Legendary setup. Turret and Seeker Mines. Main Stats = 305/315/320

I also use the latter for the Heroic Clear Sky Incursion but switch out Seeker Mines for Health Station (Revive) during the second part of the encounter.

I also have a full-blown Support/Electronics Tactician build that reaches 500K Skill Power when fully procced but that's not my style from a gameplay standpoint so it rarely gets used.

The others are my Striker using First Aid and Seeker Mines with 310/350/200 main stats which is an all-around fun build and a D3-FNC build which has good numbers/talents/overall setup and whatnot but I never use it.

As far as overall usage goes...

1 - Assault
2 - Hybrid Tactician
3 - Striker
4 - Hybrid Reclaimer
5 - Support Tactician
6 - D3-FNC

Edit: Yeah, the MDR is my new white whale.

I've gotten a few MDR's. Run Lexington and Hudson refugee camp on challenging in a team (might work solo but can't confirm). Exotics, outside of legendary mission only drop from bosses, none drop from mission completions. Larae will drop BBV, showstopper or MDR.

Drop rates aren't great but adding those two missions to the mix with legendary runs increases the odds for exotics. I've only gotten one Barrett's and one MDR from Legendary exotics (that I've kept at least) the rest came from Lexington, including the best rolled ones that I use.

While it's a nice rifle, it's a PVE weapon, situational for Last Stand but it's certainly not a good PVP AR in the DZ.

I run these three builds 95% of the time mostly tactician variations since the make solo PVE a breeze.

My tac build:

My PVP build:

Proof that the two missions work for exotics:

Hope thios helps your quest.

Builds and stuff...

I just quickly put together an all Firearms build mimicking your's there and it feels very similar to my Assault build with obviously lesser Firearms and all weapon talents active which is kind of interesting. I think if I were going to do an all Firearms build I would use AlphaBridge so I could get the free talents even though I get incredibly bored using it (one weapon).

One thing is for certain and continues to be Massive's most consistent issue since release and that is the Stamina/Toughness/Health/Armor system as it feels literally no different whether playing with 240K or 400K Toughness. The only reason to spec Stamina continues to be to keep weapon talents active which is just wrong and feels wasteful in terms of character building. I'm convinced at this point they'll never come up with a way to make it meaningful/useful/not overpowered as in the many iterations so far they have failed to do so.

It was a long night, I now see the post is full of typos and I only posted 2 but spoke of 3 builds...

The third build is alpha, precisely for the reason you mentioned, unlocked talents. I have 15 guns in inventory to mix and match the 4th talent depending on what I want to do. I have a 4th build in the works, 4 piece alpha/2 piece tactician, entirely geared into electronics because of the talent requirements removal.

I couldn't agree more with your point about stamina. I made a nomad's build all specced into stamina to prove that point.

PVP is a complete mess and I just don't see the way they can fix it. Ever.

I havent played since the missions where you had to fight a tank in a small area, what did I miss? which DLC I should do first and it looks like the basement area is opened

How is the medic class?

My first impressions are good, seems a well made game but am I right in assuming once you've finished the campaign the game is basically over as a solo player? I've read you'll just get ganked constantly so you'll never get much done. I'll keep playing the free trial though as I am enjoying it.

EDIT: What does this mean, the full icon, what am I full of?

And can someone explain how saving works? Can I just log out anywhere and be there when I log off, even mid mission?

Now that all of the main DLC (or at least the stuff they talked about when the game came out) is out it's a lot more solo friendly. I originally stopped playing after reaching level 30 due to the lack of stuff I felt I could due while playing solo and not feel like I'm bored or wasting my time (spotty wireless sometimes prevents me from staying connected while matchmaking). I stopped before the first DLC came out but jumped back in after the third one and I've been having a lot of fun.

I still do matchmake at times, I enjoy doing survival and playing challenging/legendary missions but when I'm just running solo I feel like I have plenty of stuff to keep my occupied now. From HVTs to things like daily/weekly objectives and underground missions (not to mention world bosses as a small addition which now respawn daily or something) or cruising around the expanded dark zone I usually feel as though there is something to do at any given time.

And unlike in the past the game really does dump loot on you now which is great as it helps drive the desire for getting that piece of gear or weapon that just a little bit better than what you're currently using. It also helped me try out a lot more weapons as you get them at such a faster rate now, I had never tried a good lightweight M4 but now that I have one I can't go back to much anything else.

Edit: your question on the pic, that full icon thing is really annoying in that it won't show you the icon of the actual item unless you back up and are a certain distance from it. Also you have to be familiar with the item icons or else you might now even recognize what the item is in reference to.

So would you say the DLC is necessary if you're solo? I can't really afford the gold edition, just the base game. I'm only level 6 but I feel like it's a good game, so lack of content would be the only real killer for me. I'm already getting into the loot hunt, and I love how you can play dress up too, I always love transmog, it's really smart how it's independent of your actual gear so you can just pick the best stuff without ruining your look.

Wolfe

Member
I wouldn't say it's totally necessary, but I do think underground and survival are two fun activities that can be done both solo or with a group. I don't do much PVP in this game so I haven't touched last stand much but most people seem to enjoy it.

I think if you enjoy the base game that they only add to it, but at the same time I'm not familiar with their individual prices as I picked up the season pass way back before I realized how bored I was going to get with the game at the time lol.

Edit: to further clarify I think in it's current state the game is worth picking up (especially given how discounted I keep hearing it is at times) even if you aren't getting the DLC with it and are playing primarily solo.

It's £16 base or £28 gold. I've stopped for the night, I unlocked 2/3 wings and did a bunch of side content, my map is full to the brim with stuff to do so I'd say you're right, there's probably enough content without the DLC. I'm enjoying the story so far although it's weird I never seem to speak, a mute main character is new to me.

Finally pulled my two Bullfrogs from the stash to see if I could tame them and surprising they feel quite smooth with +Stability rolled on the backpack and the Steady Hands perk helps too when in cover.

I have one with Uncomplicated/Ferocious/Destructive and another with Uncomplicated/Competent/Unforgiving which gives me some situational/game mode options there.

Pretty deadly setup in combination with Barrett's chest, MC Skull gloves, etc as you're getting a lot of +damage bonuses.

It may actually pull me away from my Lightweight M4 and G36 variations for the time being.

Even though it sounds like 1.7 won't be bringing any new content per se to the table, I've been asking for modifiers for a long time now for all game modes to keep the content that is there somewhat interesting/fresh/challenging so I'm looking forward to see what they have included here to do just that before getting to the hopefully meat and potatoes of 1.8.

I have a question about the AI, does it improve? Right now the mobs are really stupid, they run out from cover all the time with their back to me and just die. I'm wondering if it's because I'm low level, like in other MMOs were the mobs are easy at the start or if the AI is just bad in general.

Uh that has not been my experience at all with this game. I always found the AI to be quite good, actually.

Strange, I mean they try to flank and rush which is good, but then they start climbing on boxes or vans in the open like apes making them easy kills, and as I said before the whole running with their back to me thing is just jarring, do they think I won't shoot them in the back? :D

About 6 hours in now, 25% of story done but I'm not focusing on that, I'm doing each safe house and the corresponding missions one by one. I really enjoying the flame thrower tanks and watching them freak out before they die. I think I've pretty much decided to buy the game, I can't afford the gold edition so standard will have to do, I might be able to do one DLC pack though which would be Last Stand as that reminds me of the Uncharted or Last of Us PvP.

I've my fair share of showstoppers and chest pieces from her but no MDR. I don't really run Lex much at all anymore, it burnt me out when the BBV was much harder to get than it is now and I ran Lex around 200 times until it finally dropped.

As far as overall usage goes...

1 - Assault
2 - Hybrid Tactician
3 - Striker
4 - Hybrid Reclaimer
5 - Support Tactician
6 - D3-FNC

Edit: Yeah, the MDR is my new white whale.

Nice builds Mythic and axb2013.

I've got what I think the norm is for the high end/exotic build: Barrets, Specialised, Tenacious, Skull gloves, Short bows, Nimble, all specced to firearms with 1 stamina to unlock weapon talents, all firearms+health gear mods, using MP7 with responsive, deadly, unforgiving, 44% crit chance prior to pulse, 121% crit damage.

I have 2 DeadEye builds, both identical except for primary, 1 with SVD and 1 with M700 depending on what I'm playing.

Turretician, so everything specced into electronics using Active sensor mod on the turret, LWM4 with talented, competent and responsive (third slot so requirements N/A).
Its quite a fun PVE and PVP build as the turret is that strong at just over 600k skill power it's like having 2 people shoot down the enemy. Use inventive backpack on this for the extra skill power at full health.

Toughness wise all the builds are under 300k except for the DeadEye as I had to roll marksmen damage so stuck with stamina on them until I get some new gloves. Only place I spec for toughness now is sometimes on the gear depending on the build but health sometimes comes under the same as crit damage or skill power so build dependant I'll take the crit or skill power.

Only have an image of the deadeye build to hand:

NIs9dbE.png

Obviosuly in LS the stats get abit more inflated.

While I was going through the capture gallery I came across these so thought I'd share. My current best Last Stand score using the High End/Exotic build (nades are so OP tbh).

And there will never be a better moment than 1 shotting the Hunters :)

I've tried to get a group for the DZ a few times with no luck, I'm only in the first bracket so maybe that's the problem, is it populated at max level? What's the average wait to join up with some randoms? The free trial ends today and I definitely want to continue playing so I'll be buying it, right now I'm only level 12 so I have a ton of content to get through. I'm starting to feel a bit alone though as you can't see other players outside of the DZ/hubs, I'm hoping the game gets more of an MMO feel at level 30.

I bit the bullet, got a great deal. You can spend 100 uPlay points whatever they are for 20% off, this is not supposed to stack with the sale but it does. It took the Gold Edition down to £22, nearly £6 extra off!

Just got the Gold Edition after not playing since spring of last year. My only character is a level 21. I need recommendations; should I start over or no?
