PS+ June: Killing Floor 2 and Life is Strange

What's the word on PS4 Pro support for Killing Floor 2?

I know DF did a beta video, but they never did a final video, leaving the final product up in the air...

Free has never looked better :)

Really though, it looks and plays pretty good. Better textures, higher rez.

Are you playing on Normal? The only times I died in a few games last night were once when my teammates locked me in a room full of enemies (thanks bros) and two other times when I didnt realize those Sirens were fucking my world up.

Yeah normal. We were fine through all 7 waves. Then we got to the boss. Seemed to be doing ok. Maybe I wasn't paying attention as he was down to half health. Then I realized that most of my teammates had died. Went downhill quick from there.

It was the beach level with the gas mask dr. Guy. First time playing and it was a bunch of randos who started level 0 Berserker like me.

https://blog.us.playstation.com/201...-ps4-pro-details-open-beta-begins-november-4/
PS4 Pro has allowed us to take Killing Floor 2’s visuals to the next level of fidelity. Resolution, memory, and performance are the three key ways the PS4 Pro enhances Killing Floor 2.

First on the point of resolution for players that have a 4K TV and a PS4 Pro. Killing Floor 2 runs at a higher 1800p resolution that is then upscaled to 4K 2160p resolution, unlocking the gaming potential of your 4K screen. The extra resolution increases overall environment, weapon, and character detail beyond what is perceivable on a 1080p display.

Environment details such as foliage and distant level meshes have a new level of definition. Enemies (Zeds) in the world seen at medium to long distances have many more pixels defining them, making it just a bit easier to get that head shot. Killing Floor 2’s over-the-top gore system has never looked better with persistent blood reflecting the world and characters in high resolution.

The extra memory on PS4 Pro allows us to activate our ultra textures that have higher resolution over the standard PS4. The ultra textures add extra surface detail to everything in the game including first-person weapons, arms, zeds, and the levels themselves.

These high-res textures will be used whether the player is playing on a 4K TV or a standard 1080p display.

In addition to the ultra textures, the extra memory allowed us to increase our dynamic shadow resolution. Killing Floor 2’s custom deferred renderer uses a number of shadowing techniques including dynamic shadows. When these dynamic shadows are used they will be crisper and higher resolution on PS4 Pro then the standard PS4.

When playing on a 1080p TV, Killing Floor 2 is effectively super sampled, resulting in much higher quality and smoother anti-aliasing.

All of this is achieved without compromising on performance. Killing Floor 2 runs at an increased frame rate when using a PS4 Pro on a 1080p display. Whether you have a 4K or 1080p TV, Killing Floor 2 is going to look amazing on a PS4 Pro.

At Tripwire we love being at the forefront of emerging technology and strive for our games to be as visually stunning as possible. Looking to the future, it’s exciting to know that we can develop on such powerful hardware that allows us to unlock our true artistic and creative vision, and not have to compromise. This is the first time we’ve had a major hardware upgrade during a platform cycle that adds a lot more potential but doesn’t split the player base, since all PS4’s are compatible with each other. It’s also exciting that as virtual reality becomes more widely adopted, we’ll have hardware that can support its demanding performance and resolution requirements.
Runs at native 1800p then checkerboards upto 2160p 60fps with supersampling available to 1080p TV users, increased LOD, texture resolution uses ultra textures, increased dynamic shadows.
Great Pro support

Killing Floors EU servers seem to be dead most of the time, is it just me or is it really this way? Kind of a shame if it is.

Cant't find any online games in kf2...anyone else having this issue?

I'm on the US east coast and I played a bunch last night and today and never waited for a game. Are you using filters? I'm just searching for any kind of normal difficulty game. It joins almost instantly for me.

US Centrail and West seem to have some activity, EU and East seem pretty much dead on my end at the times that I've played.

Enjoyed the Life is Strange demo i played way back, just never got around to getting the full game. Downloaded this last night, and i'm excited to play the full game.

Looks like an easy Platinum too!!!

Nothing leaves a sour taste like the game going into an infinite loading glitch on your first attempt at playing online! <3 KF2

Got Killing Floor 2 and it's a lot of fun, but I'm encountering a major issue. I'm trying to play today but the game constantly goes into an infinite loading screen no matter what settings, server locations, and filters I apply. At one point it goes up to 20 minutes before I give up and restarted the application. I've must have done this 10 times in the past hour...

Is anyone else encountering this issue and, if it exists, is there a fix to this? It's such a shame cause I really was enjoying this game only for it to become literally unplayable at this point. :/

Good God, I can't find a KF2 game at all.

Yep, me neither. I try to search for a game every couple of hours and yet, nothing.

I'm in EU and currently searching on the US East servers with no filters. I'd really like to play this game online because I played the fuck out of the PC version.

I've been having the exact same issue. I got exactly one game in earlier this afternoon, then POOF, nothing for the last three hours.

Starting liking KF a bit more. I think long games are better and we're now taking down bosses. Although the big dude is harder than the other boss because he heals. Kinda hate that when you die you lose your bought weapons. It makes it harder to get back on your feet after respawning but guess that makes you try and stay alive more. And joining matches mid way is defo a no no.

It's a bit repetitive and grindy though and only 2 bosses isn't helping. There's a decent number of maps though. Never had any bother getting in to matches. Played quite a bit yesterday and joined all games straight away.

Finished Life i Strange last night. One of the best games of that genre, possibly the best time traveling game as well plus it has no anime BS and characters that act their age. Really enjoyed where the story went.

And why would I want them?
Wow, Killing Floor 2 is fucking sweet! Had never even heard of this game before. Goddamn this game is action packed. So much fun.

I'm running into an issue redeeming Neon Chrome for Vita/PS4. PSN thinks I already own the game; probably due to an issue with the demo where PSN thinks that the demo is the full game.

Has anyone else run into this? Trying to buy the full version from within the game doesn't resolve the issue and there is no option to buy or redeem the game when I view the listing on Vita. I'm afraid that if I contact Sony and have them take the demo out of my purchase history it's going to blacklist me from ever being able to redeem or purchase the full game.

Have you tried adding it in your library through their website?

Tried from the web browser? It should give you an option to select which version you want (full game or demo) when you put it in your cart.

Yeah, I should have mentioned that. Sorry, adding through the browser store doesn't work either. It says that I already own the game.

Tried refreshing licenses from the PS4? Or redownloading it? In worst case deleting savedata (after backup in the cloud) and seeing what a fresh save brings you

I did try redownloading it. I end up with the same demo version as before (the PS4 is probably pulling this off of some cloud backup) though I haven't tried refreshing my licenses. I'll give that a shot in a few minutes.

The odd thing is that I just tried refreshing the store page in-browser. The page changed slightly to show that the game is now free with PS+, but I still get a prompt under the thumbnail stating "Not available for purchase". Clicking the "Tell me more" button simply gives me a message stating that I already own the content.

Killing floor 2 is really fun.

Edit: If you can't find games, try turning your PS4 completely off for a while (not just in rest mode) and then restart it. I hope they get this sorted out soon.

Restoring licenses didn't work. Downloading from my games list downloads the demo again. Trying to go directly through the store or through the game to purchase the full version results in the same message, that I already own the content.

I'm going to email Sony support. I won't ask them to remove it yet, but I'm going to see if they have any suggestions.

Edit: Looks like there's a Reddit thread on this. Sony has to refund the free demo before you can download the full version.

Life is Strange is awesome so far,
I like how the options are so different and don't specifically feel better or worse.
That also bothers me though.

Chatted with a Sony rep. They deleted the demo from my account, though it might take some time for it to register so that I can download the full game.

Is it customary for these guys to ask your last name and phone number for a potential call after chatting with you?

To those who have completed Life is Strange, do you think this is a game I could play with my girlfriend?

I've played through a few of the Telltale games with male friends who are video game enthusiasts, and that was an absolute blast. However, I worry that Life is Strange (or at least the 1st episode) may not be compelling enough to hold her interest (she's a nerd, but not a gamer), or that the medium may alienate her a little.

Hell yes. It's a game that is so much better played with your SO.

My wife is neither a gamer nor what I'd describe as a nerd, and she absolutely loved it. The Telltale games are also amongst the few games she'll happily play through.

I think it'll definitely hold her interest. Overall it's a pretty good story and it's not to long. The characters were good to , not as 1 dimensional as they first seem.

So people who have problems with KF2 try:
1) Create a party and then search for games
2) Try different settings (i mostly play 7 waves, always finds a game in this mode)

I hope they fix this asap.

I know most people only care about the higher profile games but along with Killing Floor 2, Neon Chrome and Spy Chameleon seem pretty great so far too.

It took a few days to process the "refund", but my Neon Chrome issue is resolved now. It's nice to finally play the full version, but I'm kind of glad I never bought it outright; I had no idea that co-op was offline only. I was really looking forward to playing this with a few friends. :/

Anyone else here having issues with killing floor? if I try to get in an online survival game, it just stays looking for players forever; If I change it to versus survival, it quickly finds a full room, only to ALWAYS freeze the game as soon as you are in the lobby.

A few people have had this issue at gamefaqs but no one has mentioned it here.

what a waste, since this game is not meant to be played alone
