Media Create Sales: Week 23, 2017 (Jun 05 - Jun 11)

Also, quite consistent sales for Dragon Quest Heroes I-II for Nintendo Switch off the charts, at least in the past few weeks

Week 20, 2017 {2017.05.15 - 2017.05.21}

47./39. [NSW] Dragon Quest Heroes I & II for Nintendo Switch (Square Enix) {2017.03.03} - 744 / 50,866

Week 23, 2017 {2017.06.05 - 2017.06.11}

49./52. [NSW] Dragon Quest Heroes I & II for Nintendo Switch (Square Enix) {2017.03.03} - 783 / 53,066

Sales from Week 21 to Week 23, 2017 - 2,200
Average - 733

if 733 units sold a week are "quite consistent sales" I would say that XBO sales are consistent...

so in 10 days Splatoon 2 would have almost a 1:1 tie ratio ?

I suggest you should revise your prediction if you wanna get a chance to win ;)

Switch is at 950k right now. Next week plus the week after that (both outside the prediction month) will add about 100k imo, so we're at 1050k. Then, adding the 355k I predict for the month of July puts it at 1405k. Splatoon selling 1050k would mean approximately a 75% attach ratio. That's high, but it is possible for Splatoon 2 imo.

Edit: By the way, ARMS just took the first spot in the amazon Japan daily sales ranking (and holding on to the third place as well), beating out DQXI for the moment. Seems like healthy day -1 sales from what little I can discern.

Super Bomberman R tops 100K!

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Dragon Quest Heroes 1-2 performance is quite disappointing imho. It's not that i was expecting some crazy number like 100k but after seeing how well Switch was doing I was hoping for better numbers.

It's not like the game is suddenly stop to sell, given how it's trending, though (and with limited hardware sales due to shortages).

maybe you meant this :

18./25. [PSV] Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition # <ADV> (Sony Computer Entertainment) {2015.03.19} (¥2.400) - 1.773 / 981.706 <80-100%> (+6%)

but it's not on 3DS so I see your point

You're right, I should've included that. I have Nintendo tunnel vision.

Didn't say much last time people tried to predict when a new Direct would air based on the NCL page, but...

That "empty space" isn't one, and doesn't mean anything.

This is the page on May 19th: https://web.archive.org/web/2017051...tendo.co.jp/corporate/direct_links/index.html

Notice how there's exactly 12 links?

Well, what happens if you add the Pokémon Direct... yup, you get 13 links, with one "empty space". They didn't add one, it's just a result of them adding the Pokémon Direct. They're not trying to keep a round number of links on the page, so I'm not sure why everyone is taking those "spaces" as a sign a new Direct is coming.

That being said, I agree that a Splatoon 2 Direct is most definitely coming, but it's got nothing to do with blank spaces.

Shipments and digital sales for Breath of the Wild are over 700k, there isn't anything to compare with Twilight Princess.

I meant physical sales. Of course shipped+digital will be over TP by now.

That being said, I wonder what the next game to pass is. I wanna say Spirit Tracks.

General Direct that covers what?

Everything is dated for Q3. Maybe there will be a fast preview for the releases of next 2-3 months but it will be focused around Splatoon 2.

Fall direct will be the interesting one.

I'm not expecting a whole lot from there either.

I see:
Last Mario trailer
ARMS DLC
Zelda DLC trailer/gameplay
Maybe Splatoon DLC
Release date FE W
Release date & Trailer for Xeno (unless it gets its own direct)
Release month & Trailer for whatever comes first between Kirby and Yoshi

In terms of new announcements, I can only really see AC and 1-2 third party game, and AA game. Maybe LM3. I don't think we'll see Metroid Prime
I thought Retro would be at E3 so now I have no idea what their announcement sched is like.

It'd be great to get a lot of big announcements though

Fall direct will be interesting in the way Nintendo will give full schedule for November and December. There aren't dated games after October. Whatever else is extra.

I could see Nintendo doing a September Direct to fill out the fall and maybe January. Then one in December/early January to fill out the Spring and tease something for the rest of the year. My predictions for now are:

October: Mario
November/December: Taiko/Dragon Quest XI/Minecraft/Xenoblade 2
Q1: Either Yoshi or Kirby, Tales of, one unannounced smaller game
Q2: Animal Crossing or Smash Bros, remaining Yoshi/Kirby game, one unannounced smaller game

I also expect Yokai Watch 4 (July 2018), Inazuma Eleven (H1 2018), Project Sphear (H1 2018), Project Octopath Traveller (H1 2018), and Fire Emblem Switch (H2 2018).

So this would be on top of PS+? Seems unlikely now that all the big three charge for online (or will charge).
What makes that unlikely? None of the big three share the online fee with 3rd parties.
It's almost like they are trying to kill multiplayer. Strange, but that's capcom for you.
Always thought online fees are hilarious for this very reason, publishers should want more players to play their games. A fee only helps drying up the communities faster.

Because of that very reason - not seen a sub fee for non MMO games recently. Especially since MHW would have no local multiplayer, forcing people to pay PS+ fees plus MHW subs seem like a surefire way to tank their sales.

So does putting it on the PS4, so I guess they will decide to have a subscription.

You already have to pay to play online on PS4, a fee on top of that is nonsense.

At least for Dragon Quest X it makes sense.

Xbox One X will be released in Japan after all, Spencer had an interview with Famitsu, he considers Japan "an important market" and says they're "not giving up on it"

He does mention that its not coming out on November 7, but that there are plans on releasing it.

Did you guys read the update at the end of the story ? Siliconera jumped the gun, there is obviously no fee. I would definitely bet MHW will introduce more paid content than previous entries though.

I think that plus isn't required to play DQ X.

Games with fee to play bypass ps+, it is not allowed to charge the two things at the same time for a game.

Also getting to that conclussion from that quote is ridiculous, but sites need clicks I guess.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.

Yeah. I expect heavy monetization

Just to be clear, I'm including the platform holders in my criticism. Now that even Nintendo will jump on the inane "pay to use online you already paid for" bandwagon I'm just glad Switch being portable makes it easier to organize local multiplayer anywhere.

I wouldn't put it past Capcom to nickle and dime players. It's a shame because they were one of the best at providing free dlc content 😔

I think MH World will be close to SFV in terms of monetization.
But nah, no subscription.

do you guys think that FE Musou, Xeno2 and Odyssey will have their own directs?

I think that Xeno2 will get many videos like XCX got to detail its systems. Could get a mini direct in that regard.

This may seem way to far away but how much of a chance will Mario O and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 open ahead of their Wii U predecessors and by how much?
I'm thinking 220k Mario
115k Xenoblade Chronicles 2

I think it's very very very likely that both do better than their WiiU counterparts.

XBO would kill for a consistent 733 units sold a week...

And in the end the Switch port of DQ Heroes I II will likely outsell the LTD of the XBO

Amazon pre-announced they were selling Switch + Arms bundles that went on sale at 10pm JP time last night. The order page went down 2 minutes prior to commence time due to high traffic, and errors lasted for over an hour. When the website came back online it was already sold out.

Seen lots of reports of twitter this morning of people walking in to retail stores and being able to buy Switch's. Hopefully this bodes well for Switch stock for this week.
