Launch weeks and sales by Christmas in Spain

PS4 was at 80,000 by week 2 so launch was constrained.

Bergsala confirmed that during it's launch weekend, Nintendo Switch's launch-weeked was the best within Nintendo launches in Scandinavian region. I couldn't find any numbers, though.

Wonder if they sold out in the end, since in Norway at least they could have distributed units a bit differently for better day one sales. Of course my impressions are super anecdotal and wouldn't make that much of a difference on the bottom line in the big picture I guess.

I'm just bitter my city seems to only have gotten pre-ordered units. And that combined with the fact that no store could guarantee they would have Pokémon sun and moon on launch day and a geography that in some cases hinders overnight sending and less days where mail is brought out makes me worry about future launch day misses.

Also, Zelda is a system seller, how could anyone forget?

Switch had the best launch for a Nintendo console in Portugal. Don't have numbers for it or for the first weekend for the previous record holder (Wii) but I know that the Wii sold 10.000 in the first month in Portugal.

Happy NX is off to a good start. Although I have been drifting away from them over the last few gens (didn't even bother with Wii u), I used to be a bit of a Nintendo fan boy from SNES to Gamecube era. Still have a soft spot for them as everyone should really - they have done so much to set standards and innovate in both software and hardware. A strong Nintendo is good for everyone who is interested in a healthy videogame industry.

Thinking more about buying a Switch now thanks to positive vibes (and some indie games do look interesting), but maybe when more games come out. I've never played a Zelda before in my life and I'm not used to big RPG games.

Fantastic!

Got comparable numbers for Wii and PS4 for comparison with the two most successful recent consoles at all? I guess DS and 3DS while I'm asking too actually?
PS4 was 240K at the end of December 2013, or 6 weeks.

Wii hit 250K some time in Q1 2007. Probably February (So 3 months) as March 2007 LTD was 324K. Wii was massively supply constrained in France with huge demand though, as in one month Nintendo shipped close to 300K units, bringing Wii sales to 700K in late June when late May sales were 410K.

Wow, great number! They wanted to outsell Wii U LTD in one year, right? What number did they need for that?
Wii U LTD in France is 840K.

Nintendo France says they foresee to sell 1 million in France in first year, same as Wii did. I guess they will soon solve their stock problem?

They've said that before the stock issues were more apparent and problematic than what was planned though

I've bought a Switch today in Berlin. It was somewhat difficult to find as I was only able to find it in Mediamarkt at the Alexa Mall.

It was not available at all on 2 Saturns I went. Gamestop too.

Legend! Cheers for that.

Sheesh. And France was one of their better markets they kept mentioning unusually strong sales in? Really puts things into perspective there.

Now that it seems like Fifa is actually going to be a marketable title, I wonder how hard NoE will be pushing the title this fall and what potential it has to drive hardware sales.

If they were smart they'd have a Fifa bundle by Christmas. The damn thing would fly off shelves. People will buy Splatoon and Mario regardless of them being bundled or not and there really isn't another title with such wide appeal.

As someone who championed and loved the Wii U and its library, I can't help but be a little bitter over the Switch's success.

Yes I love my Wii U and still need to play several games, but I want to get on the Switch hype, probably don't need it to be honest. Between PS4, Wii U and 3DS no time to play.

But props to Nintendo! I hope they sort out the stock issues.

If NoE does a Fifa 18 bundle this holidays they will break the bank and make sure that EA support will be there going forward.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

I think the problem here is this is one of those games strictly connected to PlayStation this year, so I suppose the marketing/advertising focus will be with PS4. But, at the same time, I was surprised to see FIFA18 getting attention at the Spotlight itself and being playable on Nintendo's showfloor...still don't know if we're going to see it though.

Why would Nintendo bundle a console that's selling as soon as people can get their hands on them?

If nothing else, directly associating the system with the premier football game would only boost the systems long term sales and legitimacy as a third party title machine, even if only with the casual crowd.

It might not help sell more systems in the immediate, but it would be a move that would help avoid a sharp decline along the lines of the Wii and improve the health and variety of the systems library.

Why did Sony bundle PS4 with everything possible after launch? Because you want to keep the attention at highest level possible. FIFA is one of the best selling franchises in Europe, bundling a high selling console with a high selling game is beneficiary for both.
