Dragon Ball FighterZ - Characters, Specials, and Stages Discussion

I don't know how far into Super they're gonna go, but man, I really want Goku Black in this. What seemed to be yet another evil version of Goku turned out to be one of my favorite Dragon Ball villains ever. Bonus points if they include his kickass theme as BGM. (This won't happen, ever.)

We need an English translation first.

Basically:

-They wanted to reach a broad audience with Xenoverse 1 and 2 and are now trying to convert the more casual player into fans of 2D fighting games

-They couldn't do something as close as the anime before because of a lack of power. The XB1, PS4 and PC allow them to do that now

-They simplified the control scheme compared to the usual Arc System Works games to accommodate casual gamers, but the 3 vs 3 and the assists system is meant to cater to the hardcore

-The team based combat is a way for them to balance the different power level, everyone has advantages and inconveniences

-Transformation are tied to specific attacks. Goku for exemple won't be able to turn SSJ3 in the middle of a fight and stay that way. It'll be temporary

-They wanted every character to be unique so expect less characters then in Xenoverse

-Characters are most likely going to come from different eras

-Alternative color costumes aren't planned because it changes the hitbox, might be added later on if there's enough support for it

-They're focused on the gameplay and the multiplayer but there's going to be a story mode as well as more modes outside of those

- Higher resolution for the Pro and the X1X

-No cross play but if there's enough support for it they'll consider it

-No power limitation to get it working on the Switch, If they keep seeing fan interest for it they'll maybe release a Switch version down the road

If they do port it to the Switch, I'd imagine that it would be 900p docked & 720p undocked (seeing as it's UE4 & it apparently runs at 1080p/60fps on XB1).

Switch confirmed on-par with XB1, PS4, & PC :p

Would be cool to see this on switch as well

New characters? I guess Android or Picolo would be reveal first. I would be genuinely shocked if we are going to get someone else as first announcement other than first 6.

-They wanted every character to be unique so expect less characters then in Xenoverse

That's definitely great news for me. I want more variety for archetype and unique movesets. That's why I have my eyes on Buu at the moment.

-Characters are most likely going to come from different eras

That's good so I wonder if that meant it would covered four era?

-Alternative color costumes aren't planned because it changes the hitbox, might be added later on if there's enough support for it

I wonder it meant alternative costume? not alt color. Since colors don't really change any hotboxes.

She was coy about the era but my personal opinion would be DBZ onward.

Pretty sure she was talking about alternative costumes because that's the thing they asked about. In the response she said different colours so I stuck to that. Also different colours are already in the game based on the question so it's alternative costumes.

I don't see how alternate costumes would change the hitboxes, unless the costumes would look drastically different. The real reason is probably how much work it would be to make new costumes in that artstyle, like with GG Xrd.

I don't recall such an option to disable auto-combos in P4A. Then again, MvCI has the option, so maybe that'll push ASW to do the same.

They could also make an optional select like how it's done in Xrd Rev 2, between Stylish and Technical Mode.

In the sense that Stylish mode you take 20% more damage in exchange for super easy combo strings and loss of some normals.

Even SF Alpha and some of the older Marvel games had an options for Easy / Manual as well.

So nothing new and it will still work today.

Stuff like Piccolo clothes Gohan might have hitboxes added onto the shoulders for example, for the 3D fighters that level of precision never really mattered but making entirely new models for a different costume might be a problem. Then again it's not an issue in Street Fighter so I'm not sure why it's such an issue.

The "different eras" comment is interesting. Wonder if that means we'll be getting characters from EVERY Dragon Ball anime, including even GT.

Well, I certainly don't mind to see Young Goku with power pole and flying nimbus but again it's highly unlikely to happens tho.

Why such a fan of 17? Genuine question, I don't remember him as being very interesting

ATGYTSt.gif

1) He has a unique physique in Dragon Ball

2) He looks cool, and has a fun personality

3) He is the only super powered fighter that doesn't use ki blasts, a rare feat in Dragon Ball

4) He had one of the best fight in the series against Piccolo

5) He is back as main character in Dragon Ball Super and is one of the strongest characters

6) His moveset is composed or really fast moves, dodges and counters, on top of a defensive energy shield, so that can make a really fun fighting game character

7) His duo with his sister is iconic and it's annoying to see him missing in a tag fighting game

I liked 17 for how he looked and fought before, but Super made him a fun, interesting character to watch.

His interactions with the cast in the last few episodes were amazing. Such a cool character.

Arale would be the perfect Dragon Ball (guest?) choice. She can keep up with the pace of the game and she briefly appeared in Super. She'd be really unique, too!

The producer's comment about hearing the demand for her makes me confident about her chances, at least as DLC.

Fair enough. Guess some of those things just doesn't really matter to me.

Question though, how did he get stronger in DBS? I think he goes toe to toe with Goku, right? I figured the androids would have a static power level

She seems perfect for a preorder bonus character if they were to do one.
